Nope. Just same questions and answers with alot questions having nothing to do with I21.

Nope, most of the dev answers/info have already been posted by the devs on the forums or can be taken from the CoH: Freedom FAQ. Nothing really new revealed, which doesn't surprise me.

This first attempt at a dev/player Facebook Q&A really needs some work and this whole session felt more of a PR soundbite then an actual discussion between players and devs. These points bear repeating, but if the CoH dev and community team plan to do this again they need to

1. Let people know what questions have already been answered

2. Quit answering the same questions over and over

3. A heads up on what type of questions you are willing to answer and not answer would be great, and very courteous to those participating.

4. Also most of the questions seemed to have been answered by a few people attending. People came in and participated expecting and wanting a response from the official CoH dev team members, not from other people attending. If you plan to hold a Q&A and let others do most of the work for you then that's just a sign of laziness in my book.

Question was asked, unfortunately they have no intent to offer a lifetime subscription when CoH: Freedom launches

They said they have no plans currently to offer lifetime subs.

I am going to have to re-state that I was very dissapointed with the Q&A on facebook. The devs simply did not give ANY answers that could not have been picked up from already released information in the FAQ, the Podcast, or the clarification posts on the forums.

If the devs were not interested in answering any new questions, then WHY hold a Q&A?

This, more than anything, is incredibly frustrating and very dissapointing. The dev's simply ignored most questions, and the few answers they gave answered abosolutely nothing that wasn't already in the FAQ.

Things like this tend to drive people away, not make them willing to shell out 15 bucks a month.

If this is done again, I hope the devs recognize this and start to answer more questions, even if the answer is "We can't discuss this at this time" or "This part of the project is still in the development stage" or "No Comment".

I call it fortunate, not unfortunate. They make much more money by someone staying subbed than they would by any lifetime subscription price people are likely to pay. Offering lifetime subs for a mature game like this one would reek of trying to con people out of a bit more of their money just before it shuts down. You could probably accurately predict when the shutdown would come just by calculating how many months it would take for the amount of money made by a subscription to pass that of a "lifetime" subscriber.

Holy brain blast!!!!!!! That was darn astute.

Some of your questions have been answered either on the forums or in USTREAM. I have answered those below:

Quote:
You will be revamping Atlas Park/Mercy Island with the new issue, will the older starting arcs be available through Oroborus? Same applies to the older tutorials (Breakout/Outbreak).
Everything will be available in Ouro. Posi's words: "We have learned our lesson. We will not take ANYTHING away from you." All of the legacy content will be available through Ouro. There will also be a way to earn Isolator and Jail Bird (at some point). Ouro will also be accessible from L14.

Quote:
Also, as a badge collector, what will happen to the veteran reward badges?
You keep the ones you have. As to the ones you don't yet have, they haven't mentioned that yet. However they DID say they would go into far more detail about the Paragon Rewards program at some point in the future.

Quote:
I understand Master minds/Controllers and epic ATs are restricted from Free and Premium accounts, what if I purchased City of Villans specifically for Mastermind at launch will I lose access to that character (playtime 1 year on and off since beta)
If you stay VIP, you will not lose access. You cannot become a Freeb, you can only drop to Premium. (Freebs are those who have never ever spent one penny on the game. You have already subscribed, you are therefore at minimum a Preem.) If you drop to Preem, all of your toons will be grayed out. You will be awarded global unlock tokens to unlock toons and/or empty slots to create new toons. You will not be able to unlock or create controllers or MMs unless you:
1. Pay to unlock the AT
[previous part two redacted]
I had to go back and re-read Posi's post. I'm still adjusting to the new terminology, so I got confused with paragon points and reward tokens. Posi said:
"Zwill said that you can choose to unlock MM and Controllers with your Paragon Reward tokens. This is INCORRECT. MM and Controllers are automatically unlocked when you have accumulated enough Paragon Reward Tokens (for existing veterans it's around 3 years). You don't even need to spend these Reward tokens to get the unlock. Of course, you can always unlock them early by buying them on the Paragon Market."
2. So I'm still not entirely sure how it works, but the point remains that if you've been subscribed for fewer than three years and drop to a Preem account, you will probably have to unlock the ATs.

Quote:
For premium players that are in a Super Group and decide to go to the free to play mode.. Will they still be in the Super Group or be kicked out once they switch to the F2P?
Once again, you cannot go from Premium to Free. It's impossible. Once you spend $0.01 on the game, you are a Preem for the rest of your life.

Quote:
So what's going to happen with expired trial accounts that haven't been upgraded in however long? Given there are always people asking about the name wipe and it hasn't been run in quite some time, wouldn't it be a good idea to do so *before* you (hopefully) draw in freebie people?
There are no plans for another name purge at this time.

Quote:
If I were to play premium with an Incarnate character, would I still have access to the incarnate powers and abilities I've already earned, or would those specific powers be locked out until I renewed my VIP membership?
Posi said you MUST be a VIP to access Incarnate content, period. So I would assume all your incarnate goodies would be locked.

Quote:
Will New Issues cost points in the future to unlock? And Will Vet rewards that we have now CONTINUE to be available to all new toons we create in the future, or will we have to use points to unlock them under the new system?
New issues will continue to be free, though there may be content within those issues that costs PP to unlock for Freebs and Preems. VIPs will retain total free access to all content.

Part of the problem is that a lot of people are asking the same questions over and over. The Devs are answering the ones that they feel are the most important, and are causing the most stress. If people are continuing to ask questions that have already been answered, that means that question has obviously not been answered enough times. Even some of your own questions have already been answered, if only you had camped the Dev and Community digests and been present for every one of the USTREAM feeds. Not that I'm blaming you for NOT being there, but the point is, a lot of people have obviously missed the answers to some very common questions. So the Devs keep answering those questions until people stop asking them. Making sure everyone is clear on how global character tokens work is currently more important than answering what happens to toons in SGs. The answers to those questions will come, eventually - we have plenty of time before Freedom comes out.

My feelings exactly. I plan on continuing to throw money at this game for as long as they'll take it. I hope to be playing this game for the next 50 years ;]

Of course it's a waste of time, it's Facebook!

I certainly do not expect anything in the way of new information to come out on FB first, I figure they will just re-state know info for people who don't like the forums and to drum up interest in general.

That problem can easily be resolved by listing what questions were already asked and answered by the CoH team. I'm hoping they do that on the next Friday Q&A. Surely it can't be hard to say "Here's what was already asked and our answers to them. Any new questions?"

I think that's a great idea. They already have an FAQ for Freedom and i21, it would make sense to add all of the answers they've already given to that page. Then there would be one centralized resource to answer all the questions that people may have, if they're just now finding out about this. It also means people wouldn't have to wade through multiple threads, and read answers to the same questions over and over in the Dev/Community digests.

+1!

Went back and copied all the questions that the CoH team answered, left out the ones that were answered by other people. So here's the list of questions answered by the CoH team for their first Freedom Friday Facebook Q&A.

Q. How many costume pieces are planned on being added to I21/Freedom's release? Just the old booster pack pieces or new ones?

A. There will be a new Defense costume set and an IDF costume set.

Q. With the new Paragon Points System, will we get respecs, or even better, powerset reselection as an availiable service

A. Respecs will be a part of the Paragon Rewards Program, and will also be available in the Paragon Store

Q. Can you give more information on the new Time Manipulation power?

A. Time Manipulation is a buff/debuff powerset for Controllers, Defenders, Corruptors, and Masterminds

Q. So if Premium players will continue to have access to GR due to already purchasing it, does that mean we can do tips or change alliance?

A. If you purchased Going Rogue, you have access to the Going Rogue content as a Premium Player

Q. What happens to unclaimed Veteran reward bonuses (Tailor sessions, respecs, pets, base items) when Freedom goes live? What happens to Unused extra character slots that haven't been assigned to specific server when Freedom goes live?

A. You will be able to claim all of your Veteran reward bonuses in the new system. Unused character slots will become Global Tokens that you can assign to serviers

CoH: For those of you wondering about pricing, a VIP subscription to City of Heroes Freedom is the same price as your current subscription

Q. Why are returning users, the "Premium Players" I should say, only get 2 character slots? I played/paid and just can't afford it anymore... I would like to keep all my characters/character options availiable.

A. Premium players will have two Global Slot Tokens, plus one token for every 12 months subscribed. If you have purchased Going Rogue before Freedom launches, you will receive 2 slots from that. You will also have tokens for any slots you've purchased.

Q. Second Measure just mentioned that unlocking Masterminds or Controllers on a free account will take the three year veteran reward. Can it also be purchased by a Premium player, ala carte?

A. Controllers and Masterminds are unlocked when you reach the requisite number of Paragon Reward Tokens -- about 3 years worth for veteran players. You will be able to purchase these archetypes through the Paragon Store.

Q. Will the monthly server change tokens given be stackable or use them or lose them like the new freespecs?

A. The monthly Character Transfer Tokens you acquire WILL stack. You're free to save them up!

Q. Let's say that I drop down to premium. I unlock my character slots. I then resubscribe, which of course unlocks everything again, and then I let my subscription lapse again. Do I go back to having the slots I previously unlocked, or do I rechoose after I've resubscribed and lapsed again?

A. If you drop down to Premium and unlock slots, resubscribe (become a VIP player), then decide to become a Premium player again, you get to rechoose.

Q. What if you already have a mastermind and paying for Sub??? It won't be like snatched from me right??

A. If you have a mastermind and are a VIP player (subscribling to City of Heroes Freedom), you will not lose your mastermind. If you are a VIP you have access to everything you currently have. (Plus more when Freedom launches!)

Q. ... so we ask questions?

A. Yes, please ask your questions about City of Heroes Freedom in the comments here

Q. Is there a link that explains all these new changes?

A. You can check out the overview of of City of Heroes Freedom here The overview talks about the new content, rewards, and choices in City of Heroes Freedom, as well as showing a side-by-side comparison of what Free, Premium, and VIP players have access to!

Q. When does it go live? did it already? I am soooo out of the loop!

A. City of Heroes Freedom launches later this year! Please look foward to it

Q. Any Info on the new Time power set?

A. Time manipulation is a buff/debuff set for Controllers, Defenders, Corruptors, and Masterminds

Q. There seems to be a misunderstanding on the content. Some people are thinking that you will get more for paying. in other words they seem to think you will be placing out more content then you already are at this point... Are you going to pump out more content then you are currently for payers of the game then you have in the past?

A. VIP subscribers will receive even more content than they currently do as part of their monthly subscription. One of our driving goals is to increase the value of the VIP subscription for our veteran players.

Q. I am a former subscriber, and hope to be again soon. I have 13 toons. AS A FREE PLAYER, which ones will be available for me to play?

A. As a Free Player, you will have access to two global slots -- two slots total that you can use on any server. PLUS any bonus global slots you might have earned as a veteran player (one per year), two global slots if you purchased Going Rogue befoer City of Heroes Freedom launches, and any character slots you have previously purchased. You will be able to assign any of your toons to these slots except for VEATs, EATs, Controllers and Masterminds, unless you have the requisite number of Paragon Reward Tokens, or have purchased these ATs in the Paragon Market

Q. Will there be any assistance for the returnning players to help them bridge the gap between when they left and the newer content? I struggled a bit when my son and I returned, but I at least had full use of the forums. What help will be there for returning vets?

A. All players will have access to the /help channel in game, which will allow them to receive support from their fellow players. Players will also have access to the City of Heroes Knowledge Base. VIP players will receive premium in-game customer support. We will be discussing this more in the future.

Q. Any word on a release/launch date?

A. City of Heroes Freedom will launch later this year!

Q. Exactly how many Paragon Reward tokens do you need to unlock VEATs, EATs, Controllers, and MM's. My husband and I played for between 3 1/2 to 5 years on our several accounts. Will this be enought time to unlock these???????????

A. Please check this url

Q. Is the new Galaxy City tutorial closed off or is it an open zone experience like Nova Praetoria? Will high level heroes and villains be able to return there after they leave?

A. The new tutorial is like Outbreak and Breakout: you don't go back once you leave.

Q. I have a Question about premium players and long time players of the game, I had a supergroup already with my main character, and premiums can't form, so will I still retain SG base and leadership of it?

A. The vast majority of Premium players should still be able to form Supergroups and maintain their bases.

Q. Is a life subscription model being looked at or even considered?

A. We're not currently considering the option of offering Lifetime Subscription

Q. The new "Tiered Download" system coming to help new players jump straight into the game will allow them to work on creating their characters(s) while the rest of the game downloads. Will we be finally get a standalone costume creator as part of this?

A. There are currently no plans for a standalone character creator at this time.

Q. WILL A SUPERLEADER OF AN SG BE ABLE TO KEEP THAT LEADERSHIP IF HE OR SHE DECIDES TO PLAY FOR FREE???

A. Many Subscribers who become Premium players will be able to form SGs beacuse of the Paragon Rewards benefits

Reasonably interesting answers so far: (The Q&A is focussed on Paragon Points)

Quote:
Also, just so you all know, your points will never expire, even if you're NOT a VIP player. You'll continue to receive a stipend of 400 points while you're a VIP, but if you become a Premium player, you KEEP those points you've earned.

Quote:
We don't currently have plans for a "gifting" option, however we do know it's a requested feature.
Quote:
Caleb Ungent - Is there anyway to earn paragon points while playing the game. Like for completing a rlly tough task force.

@Caleb Ugent - We have no current plans for this
I did ask:
Can you tell us anything new about Paragon points or things we can buy with them, that hasn't already been released/discussed?

but that one hasn't been answered :-(

Always remember, we were Heroes.

Hey folks, starting up again! Today's topic for Freedom Friday is Paragon Points, so come ask your point-related questions!

Posted

Here's Part 1 of the Q&A that the CoH team answered.

Q. What was the big deal with 7/1? I thought something big was getting released today.

A. No releases today, but an update to Issue 20 was recently released on the live servers!

Q. Will there be any more maps?

A. City of Heroes Freedom will release with Issue 21: Convergence, which will have new zones, as well as some changes to existing maps!

Q. There has been hopeful speculation among players that the Paragon Points can be used to buy some of the new auras that came with i20.5 (Please note, not talking about the Ascension Armor Sets). Is this mere hoping from players or have you thought of also intergrating those auras/emotes/costume change emotes in the Paragon Store?

A. We’re not discussing a lot of specific examples aside from the ones we’ve already given in this thread here Well have a lot more details on the Paragon Market very soon and you’ll be able to check it out for yourself in Open Beta!

Q. For VIP members, will the paragon points stack each month? So we can save up if we don’t wish to buy extra?

A. Your Paragon Points will stack. Beginning this month, current subscribers will begin receiving 400 Paragon Points per month, which will continue to stack as long as you remain subscribed!

Also, just so you all know, your points will never expire, even if you’re not a VIP player. You’ll continue to receive a stipend of 400 points while you’re VIP, but if you become a Premium player, you KEEP those points you’re earned.

Q. Can Paragon Points be used to purchase badges… like the invention badge, etc.
Q. Will any existing badges be for sale with Paragon Points?

A. We do not plan on selling badges

Q. Oh, also: will character renames be purchasable with Paragon Points? If so, can you reveal how many?

A. We plan on making our current account services available in the Paragon Market, including renames.

Q. Wait, beginning this month… does that mean Paragon Points can be spent now???

A. Paragon Points are not spendable until we transition to Freedom. Consider them money in the bank for now .

Q. Will the P-Points also interlock like poker chips? Because points that fall over are so terribly messy.

A. Depends… can you do poker chip tricks?

Q. Is there a place where I can just read about Paragon Points?

A. Jesse “Ghost Falcon” Caceres elaborated on Paragon Points and the Paragon Market in this forum thread

Q. Will there be a mechanism to either buy points and/or store points and gift them to other players?

A. We don’t’ currently have plans for “gifting” option, however we do know it’s a requested feature.

Q. If you subscribe to CoH in August will you be able to obtain Paragon Points the following month?

A. VIPs will receive Paragon Points every month as part of their subscription

Q. What are we, as VIP players going to get apart from what has been released (monthly story arc, 400 PP’s per month) in regards to eg. Content? Are we going to have to buy any and all new powersets that comes out with PP’s for instance?

A. One of our stated goals is for the VIP subscription to receive even more content than you currently do for your monthly sub. There’s going to be a ton of content included with a VIP sub, and yes there will be additional things available for purchase in the Paragon Market, which you can spend your 400 PP per month on .

Q. Are things that you buy with PP accountwide, or character specific? Costume pieces, ect

A. Most things you can purchase from the Paragon Market, such as costume pieces, will be account-wide. There will be character-specific items you can purchase in the Paragon Market, but many will be account-wide.

Q. What does Time Manipulation do?

A. Time Manipulation is a buff/debuff set for Controllers, Defenders, Corruptors, and Masterminds

Q. Thanks for the Answer Also, could you please enlighten us about how the Paragon Market Works with unlocking the veteran rewards? If for exampled I would want to unlock the 54 months veteran badge and the 63 month veteran badge, Would I be able to buy the 63 month badge and rewards first, or would I have to follow “chronically”? Or does it work a completely other way, where every veteran badge/reward can be bought independent of each other for a specific amount of points?

A. The Paragon Market is not the same as unlocking Veteran Rewards. That will be unlocked through the revamped Vet Rewards Program – The Paragon reward Program.

Please remember, today’s topic is Paragon Points! Thanks for helping us keep Freedom Friday on Topic!

Q, Will the free transfers start accumulating now along with the points?

A. Character Transfer Tokens will start accumulating when Freedom launches. The 400 Paragon Points per month is the only thing Players will be accruing up to City of Heroes Freedom’s launch.

Q. Will we be able to buy PPs using time cards, similar o buying NCoins for Exteel? Love the game, going annual again

A. Ghost Falcon is working on a post covering that question. We should have an answer for your soon

Q. Can you tell us more about Dual Weapons or Time Manipulation?

A. We’re discussing Paragon Points today.  We’ll delve more into the new powersets in the future.

Q. Will it be possible to buy I.O. sets with paragon points??????

A. We’re not discussing specific examples of what will be for sale in the Paragon Market outside of what was already mentioned in thread

Q. In which direction does Paragon Point?

A. Towards lunch!

Q. Has there been a Paragon Point per dollar value set, for purchases above the monthly 400 points for the VIP members?

A. There will be bundles of Paragon Points that you can purchase. Please check Ghost Falcon’s thread here for more info!

Q. Will they get me a big-mac?? lol

A. 400 Paragon Points is about the cost of a Big Mac Meal

Q. Will VIPs have to spend Paragon Points for new powersets like the Free and Premium players?

A. While we’re not getting into specifics regarding it; While the VIP sub will have a ton of content included with it, there will be things that are not included with the VIP service (Just as the Super Boosters currently are). That’s what the monthly stipend is for! Those 400 points are yours to spend as you see fit.

Q. Is there anything that describes the Paragon Rewards system in a bit more detail?

A. We’ll be releasing more information on the Paragon Rewards Program in the coming weeks

Q. Do points expire?

A. Nope PP do not have a shelf life

Q. Will we be information on upcoming purchases in a reasonable amount of time (eg. So we can save up our monthly stiped before a purchase becomes available)?

A. Players will have access to the Paragon Market during the Beta Process. You’ll be able to get a gander as to what’s currently available and that should give you an idea for what could be coming down the road

Q. Are the 400 points I get each month for my sub going to be enough to get anything worth having every month, or am I going to have to save them to get something more expensive like, example the Nemesis Staff?

A. You can see an example of some items might appear in the Paragon Market, and a current estimate of how many Paragon Points they’d cost, in this thread

Q. Is there anyway to earn Paragon Points while playing the game. Like completing a really tough taskforce?

A. We have no current plans for this

Q. Are the 400 points I get each month for my sub going to be enough to get anything worth having every month, or am I going to have to save them to get something more expensive like, example the Nemesis Staff?

A. We’re confident you’ll find that your 400 points per month will afford you plenty of content. How you chose to spend them will be entirely up to you however

Q. Perhaps this has been discussed, but can you give us examples of things that WON’T be available for purchase via PPs? There was a great thread in the official forums, but I’m not talking about things like “Pie” or “Positron’s sanity”.

A. Sorry, we’re not discussing any specific examples of what will/won’t be in the Paragon Market aside from the examples given in Ghost Falcon’s thread

Q. What happens if I accidently purchase something off the paragon market? Is there a confirmation before purchase or a refund option for accidental purchases?

A. We’re looking to build a great user experience with the Paragon Market, taking usability concerns such as yours into account. Be sure to check it out once we open up the beat to a larger group of players .

Q. Roughly how many NEW (not already existing in-game or through current booster packs) costume pieces are planned to be in the store when CoH Freedom/I21 launches?

A. Roughly, more than a few .

Q. Can you guys tell us what season it will be when i21 comes out?

A. It will be one of the seasons later in the year.

Q. Any utility power stuff going into the store, like that 30 day jetpack?

A. As Freedom nears closer to release we’ll be talking more about which items will be available in the Paragon Market.

Q. Do the PPs have a general dollar equivalent? For example, 400PP will be equal $1 of purchasing power etc…

A. 400 Paragon Points are equivalent to $5.00 USD
