New Halloween trial (question)

So I finished the new Dr. Kane's HoH trial and it was fun and looked great.

One question though...is there any way to speed up the zombies spawning at the end of it all?

It seems like they are on a timer but...maybe they aren't?

Either way the team of 4 of us that did it this morning got both badges (we defeated Abomination with like 1 sec. left)....but was curious if there was a way to speed up the zombie ambushes.

Yeah since the one badge requires you to kill 99 zombies in under 12 minutes it'd be kind of crummy if there was no way to affect the rate at which they spawn. If the spawn rate is hardwired then we'd basically be at the mercy of whether the game wanted to give us that badge or not.

From my testing on test sever i got 2 ideas.

1. The Abominations EMP(?) like power 'wakes' the zombies.

2. You walk on the graves. Each grave site seems to have a number of zombies to spawn.

That's cool. As long as there's a way players can affect the spawn rate I'm good with it.

on a side note there are actually 3 badges associated with this trial

one for completion
one for completion with 99 zombies killed
one for completion while wearing a ToT costume temp (im assuming it has to be for entire trial)

The text for Tricked Out just says while killing the Abmoniation, but it probably wouldn't hurt to wear one for the whole trial just in case.

We hung out on the graves and they seemed to spawn a lot faster, we were done with the zombies with around 3 or so minutes to spare.

Hmm, okay that was my thought.

One other person and I were usually standing on/nearby graves but...didn't seem to help.

Did you have everyone (including the Abomination) standing on/near graves?

Edit: Thanks for the Tricked Out badge note though...didn't know there were 3 badges! :O

Yes, we had everyone over graves and just kind of ran away from the big guy... he moves fairly slow and the occasional slow/immobilize attack kept us out of harms way for the most part.

So:

1. Move Abomination over graves.

2. run around over graves.

3. ignore Abomination and kill zombies as fast as possible to spawn new ones.
That's exactly what my team did and everything worked out just fine. We only had around 15 seconds left on the clock when ol' Big and Ugly went down but we were also sporting 2 defenders, a tank and moi (a scrapper) so DPS wasn't as stellar as it could have been.

Just got all 3 badges my first run thru on Live.

We had less than a minute to spare, too.

If you're *really* after the badge then being on a team of other badge hounds and everyone agreeing to throwing out Shivans and HVASs helps *a lot*. DPS is the name of the game.

Also, if they're using the zone-spawning rules, you don't want to be running too fast and too much. Players moving at a certain speed don't trigger spawns. Standing still causes zombies to spawn right next to you. Same with flying: spawns don't spawn once you hit a certain height.

And you don't want to be fighting the Abomination at the same time as killing zombies. You'll be wasting Damage on the AV regeneration. Once you hit 99 zombies, then go all out on the Abomination. Lots of -Regen is useful here, so make sure you have Envenomed Daggers.

I'll bet the mere presence of more pets probably helps with the spawn rate too. More bodies to trigger more aggro and all.

It's actually good to hear that 12 minutes seems to be just about "right" to make the badge sort of challenging without making it too hard or too easy.

Did the trial this morning with a completely random PuG (using the LFG tool and everything!). Ended up with two MMs and two Brutes (I was one of the brutes). Aside from the MMs being Demons and Bots, and clogging up the entirety of the first part, the run went smoothly. We were just running around the graves ignoring the Abomination and we killed 99 and the Abom with about 2 or 3 minutes to spare.

Anyone find the "easter egg EB" mentioned in the dev article?

This sucks for characters with, say, Shadow Fall or Steamy Mist, that are squishy and need the defense.

They all laughed at me when I said I wanted to be a comedian.
But I showed them, and nobody's laughing at me now!

This is like having Ra's Al Ghul show up at your birthday party.

From what it sounds like it doesn't seem like the critters in this trial are overly difficult to deal with. Just make sure you do it with 3 other people who can cover for your unusual level of squishiness.

Not that I know of. I'm going to try to get a zombie to pop out at each grave and see if that does it.

No one knows yet. The [Wolf Pet] hasn't been advertised yet, it was player-discovered.

On the run I just did we had an EB called Experiment 9 in the basement. Looked like Adamastor. It was my first run through the trial though, so I thought he was normal and don't know what we did to spawn him.

We went through slowly, we took our time, we looked around the map. We woke zombies up around the edges of rooms as well, but I would have thought plenty of teams did that.

Experiment 9 is a normal part of the run.

I think the devs may have misspoken. There's a BOSS that you can spawn by doing a little easter-eggy series of things before going into the house itself, but he wasn't an EB.

Before going into the house as you go up the stairs go Left into the grave yard and talk to Devil Girl and make a pact with her. Once you do that go talk to Bored Guy on the right and left side pavilions and make them eat candy. Then go back to Devil Girl and Fight Black Whip.
