The Omega Time Capsule Has Been Opened!

On November 27th 2002, 50 brave souls traveled to the Rikti homeworld to try to close the dimensional portal and save our world. These beings -- called the Omega Team -- went willingly, knowing that they would not survive the trip. Before they departed, they left behind a time capsule filled with letters to their loved ones and other personal mementos. While the survival of the Earth was to be their everlasting legacy, this time capsule was to be their memorial.

Seven years have passed since these brave souls departed on their final journey. Now the time has come to open the time capsule and reveal its content. Here within the forums, are some of the letters of the Omega Team. May our memory of their sacrifice shine forever.

I sense a new TF/SF possible Co-Op.

At least I hope so, would be nice anyway. I look forward to seeing what comes of this.

The 3 letters I have read so far make me want to know more about these heroes. Because in essence that is what it is all about. Sacrificing yourself to save someone else.

I like Tin Mage's letter the best. He seems the cleverest and most aware of them. I like his idea of self destruction to prevent the Rikti gaining access to his tech, and storing his plans in the Time Capsule.

Very nice touch they all had, leaving their emotions out like that. The Tin Mage made me think that in sometime in the (near) future they will be a need for him again. Also reading these gives me new hope for a new TF/SF hell even a co-op.

I can definitely feel for the one man - I'm just a guy with a wand.

Wow. Just wow.

Makes me want to have Vanguard launch a second offensive on the Rikti home dimension with all of today's heroes/villains.

I don't play much anymore, but there's a reason i've not cancelled my account, and it's stuff like this.

Bravo!

Tin Mage's letter actually made my breath catch. These were wonderful. I can't wait to see what comes of them.

Fun/interesting reads, but seems a bit random how they're being tossed to different threads on different sub heading boards.

I was able to find 2 different letters, and maybe finding them is part of the fun, but how many original people were on the Omega team? Im curious how many of these I will have to look for to get the full effect.

Cheers

50, but I don't think we are getting 50 letters.

But the ones we have gotten are awesome.

I've seen six based on Niv's posts.

Those were great. I'm really looking forward to see what happens in game now.

Can I make a recommendation for those reading these?

There's a piece of music that I think so beautifully works for the Omega Team. I'd wanted to use it for a video for the opening of the time capsule, but I just didn't have the time and energy.

Read the letters again while listening to this.

I've found six of the letters so far. If there's a God and she smiles on me, I hope the character models for the Omega Team get created, so I can actually do this video.

If your mouse has greater processing power than your gfx card, the answer is yes.

Beautiful, just beautiful.

Count me in as someone who would love to see Tin Mage rebuilt.

These are wonderful additions to the CoX canon. 50 people went? Given the quality of this batch of letters, I do hope we get to see all 50 letters in the end.

Might have made a great community competition.

Tin Mage as a name is no longer available on Pinnacle. If they want it back, they can take it from me!

I'll post the costume I came up with a little later.

Nice job on these letters! An insight into the hearts and minds of heroes, and villains, who lay down their lives defending the very Earth itself! Excellent backstory information, with hints that the Tin Mage might be able to be rebuilt, tantalising.

Totally - give a list of heroes/villains that went in. People choose one, write the letter and the winning ones get published
