It was more the appearance of the letter, than the content. It looks like it's in a block of ice to me. EDIT: Though, not as much when I go back and look again. I could easily be wrong.

The Abrams is one of the most effective war machines on the planet. - R. Lee Ermy.

Q: How do you wreck an Abrams?

A: You crash into another one.

Perhaps for certain characters. It's worth remembering that these aren't just character profiles, they are the team's last messages to the world before their fairly inevitable deaths. They could be considered epitaphs in that respect.

Such sombre circumstances bring out different qualities in different people; some could come across as wacky, comical (to deal with the stress and/or despair perhaps.) Yet some might seem rather miserable while others sanguine and calm.

I can see what you mean about culture references. If done well they can be entertaining and characterful, but I think they did manage to cover a nice spectrum.

Mere prelude to what bright hell, comes from drinking of the well.

Statesman, Recluse, and Reichsman. All drank from the well of Furies.
Reichsman is a mere prelude? Whatever is coming is a bright hell?
I think Well of Furies will have a huge impact on the Coming Storm.

As the rikti war united hero and villian, I believe the coming storm will unite human and rikti.

I think this may have something to do with I17 - Another flashback zone (The beginning of the invasion) with a TF perhaps?

Great stuff. Some of it ranks right up there with the alternate souvenir from the "Miss Francine" arc.

Cantu's letter (btw, 1st time I see that ¿latino? family name) need fixes:

Quote:
Nuestros corrazones arden,
"Our hearts burn"
'Corazones' is with only 1 'r': "Nuestros corazones arden"

Quote:
Con el fuego en el cielo.
Doesn't make many sense: "With the fire on the sky". Maybe "With the fire of the sky" (The Sun). "Con el fuego del cielo"

Quote:
Bailamos en las flammas,
"We dance in the 'flammas'"
"flammas" isn't a Spanish word. ¿Flames? The the word would be "llamas".

Quote:
y nos incendiemos,
con el espiritu del fuego.
Well, that's hard. It would mean 2 things:

"and we catch fire,
with the spirit of the fire"
Meaning they use the power of an actual spirit to ignite themselves. This sounds weird to me.

Or,

"we burn,
with the temper of the fire"
Meaning they are full of passion.

My guess is the last one and:
Quote:
"y ardemos,
con la pasión del fuego"
would sound better to a Spanish ear.

Thank you very much to whoever took the time and trouble to put these letters together for the anniversary. It's very much appreciated (especially with it being over a holiday period for you guys), and you did an awesome job with them.

p.s. "I know the name is not the best, but it seems that the best names have already been taken." Bwahahahahahaaaa!

Clearly talking about Hamidon, but not sure about the mirror flow'r. Is that a reference to the Abyss or to a Praetorian Hammy?
My guess is its a reference to the Preatorian Hamidon and the increased presence the Devouring Earth have in Preatoria.

What does this mean though?

Obviously as it has been opened, cape missions will have to be changed..

and a revamp of the 5th column tf/sf will need to be done.

I gladly wait to see both of those, in all honesty. Revamping older content is a good thing. And with the 5th tf/sf, a chance to change that up, I think that would be a welcome thing, I don;t think it's been terribly well recieved, and as a concept has such potential.

Wow! On the whole, I enjoyed all of them but the one that really stood out to me was the Tin Mage's letter.

Thanks a whole lot to whoever put these together, they were fantastic. Now I want to know more about these people!

Well, if what I'm thinking is right, and that bit of poetry is supposed to be the source of the family's super powers, then the first one may be right.

Yeah, that's why I not just discarded it right away. If it's the first one, then it has been written in an odd way:

"y nos incendiemos,
con el espiritu del fuego. "
'incendiemos' (actually 'incendiamos', it's been written in the wrong tense) would be better replaced with 'prendemos' (a more poetic and accurate word for that meaning)

PD: Spanish is very rich, complex, and difficult to master if it's not your native language. And much more if you want to make poetry.

I think Lady Sadako has all of the prophesies right except for #12, which is almost certainly a reference to the Statesman Task Force. I read "Create new thing which heals or harms, accelerate the race of arms, A million more to buy and trade, the inventors must all be paid, A flood of brains rain in the town," as a reference to the mad-scientist orientation of Arachnos. Which could mean anything, until you get to "but evil lurks to bring all down, The helmed one strikes with draining web, the war comes to a crucial head." Could the "draining web" mean anything other than the web weapon that's draped over Grandville, the one designed to funnel all of the world's super-powers into Lord Recluse? The "war" that comes to a "crucial head" is the cold war between the US and the Rogue Isles, which would truly be over if Lord Recluse were even more powerful than he is now and if the rest of the world had no superheroes to resist him.
