That... Ninja Run is incredibly unfair, especially for a power we get at level one. It's twice the speed of Sprint, gives a massive jump height bonus (500% and over) and just gives owners of this pack a HUGE advantage. And I'm saying this as someone who has it. Why even use Sprint at all now?
|
I thought Ninja Run might replace Combat Jumping, but nope, the Jump boost suppresses in combat as well.
People with Ninja Run do not have a huge advantage over those that choose to take Travel Powers. They only have a slight advantage over those that choose NOT to take a Travel Power.
Damage Proc Mini-FAQ
Just noticed Damage Proc Mini-FAQ wasn't working with new forums, it's been updated.
Ninja Run has perfected my travel-powerless concept character. I felt that none of the travel powers had been appropriate for said character, but Ninja Run finishes the sculpture. I love it.
Come on now people - 6 pages, and no one's mentioned that /e pushup might be used in...creative ways by the less mature members of the playerbase?

"You know some boneheads are gonna be stupid with that emote, right?"
"Yup."
*rolleyes*
Otherwise, the pack looks pretty awesome. The costumes are nice, and the run power is cool. Although, I'm in the "not sure I want to give up my CJ defenses for it on some toons" camp.

YUMMY Low-Hanging Fruit for BASE LUV
The Ninja Run animation does look cool, although with Assault Rifle the position is a tad wierd.

If the game spit out 20 dollar bills people would complain that they weren't sequentially numbered. If they were sequentially numbered people would complain that they weren't random enough.
Black Pebble is my new hero.
I heard Nick Fury is looking for you. Something about needing to kick your butt...
Seriously though, there are tons of "Natural" flavored heroes out there in different canons. Ever hear of a little character from the early 20th century--now mostly forgotten--called Batman? How about Daredevil? Yeah he had sonar-like senses, but beyond that, all natural. All the Watchmen but one were naturals. Most merc, agent and superspy characters are natural including Brock Sampson and that femme fetal Molatov. There are oodles of "natural" options conceptually. This could have been turned into the Rob Liefeld Memorial Pouches Everywhere Pack, but alas... not a hip pouch in sight. Nor a single detail that echoes the profound coolness that the Knives of Artemis get to sport everyday and flaunt in our general direction--such as knife holsters around boots and hip holsters for guns. I won't even go into back details. We've been waiting--some of us--literally for years now for those. I REALLY SINCERELY hope GR finally includes a back detail costume slot. *sigh* Regardless, I bought it, but I am on the disappointed bandwagon for this costume pack. I have one character, an egomaniacal Moleman and his army of ninja servants that may make good use of some of these costume bits. And I have a FEW other characters that will use the ninja run regularly, one because he looks good with it. The others because it gives them the acrobatic flair when jumping that I always envisioned for them. And the costume change emotes are good alternatives for theatric characters and vigilantes. But this pack really doesn't have the broad appeal for me that even the odd bits and totally repurposable pieces of the Super Science Booster. |
I think it's a feat that they have been able to make bunch of boosters and none of them has got me intressed. Well to be fair, the magic booster looked appealing, especially the hood option, but I'm not paying money for a hood and a temp power that doesn't work on my own character.
Yeah, I love how the technology booster lets me create a wide variety of technology-based heroes, and how the science booster doesn't just restrict me to the whole 'mad scientist' look. The natural booster restricting me to martial arts has zero precedent and is totally unfair!
|
lol
Ok this booster has one positive aspect which was already said, you can make the shredder.
Although I already did that once in Eu with the samurai pieces, but it doesn't look quite as good, unless your childhood shredder had a huge ******* head.
He did wear a purple cape though.
I will take blame for the walk animations, but the ninja run glory all goes to one of our other animators (same one who did dual pistol animations)

The Ninja Animator!
Impressive array of animations.
When using Ninja Run, there are 3 leap types: forward, sideways and straight up/backwards.
When running with a weapon, it trails behind you.
When running with a shield, it trails behind you.
When running with BOTH, it switches to shield in front and weapon trailing.

Downloaded one pack for one of my accts and having fun so far, so many possibilities. My only complaint is that there is no sash for belt options *sniff*, was really hoping to see it in a booster pack release. Also wonder if there was a warrior tights option for the body, I see it in the tights option for legs, but no body option. Wonder if it got left out, or done intentionally. Overall love what I'm seeing and well play around some more, thanks for the awesome devs.

alright...it took us 5 years to get Walk...how much longer for Kheldian sashes or sashes in general!?
Of course a decent way to travel in the early levels comes out right after I get my 60-month vet reward.
Still, the pack was purchased the moment I found out about it and, as has always happened with CoH add-ons, I feel that my money was well spent.

Martial means war-like, so Nick Fury applies, as well. Unless you think he has no combat training.
