But you took credit for Walk! WALK IS GREAT! I made SG members wait for me to arrive, because I'd walk from the entrance to the base to the usual meeting spot.

I love it!

Not sure if this is an animation bug or a costume bug, but getting some major clipping and warping, especially with jackets. Though I've had a clipping bug in that armpit spot there for ages.

That white spot near her arm is her scarf, which is behind her torso.

Did I just get peppered by something? All these holes in me...

One of the most extreme things. The underlayer is clipping right through the jacket.

Clearly you never seen a good ninja Anime where everyone is running like that.
Seeing as the word "good" doesn't apply to anime, ever, I'll have to agree with your quote. Indeed, in anime everyone is running like that, looking stupid.

Thankfully, the animation isn't as completely terrible as I expected looking at the ten second clip.

That's like saying the word 'good' doesn't apply to comics, or cartoons, or science-fiction or any other broad grouping.

Anime may not be your thing, but that doesn't mean that none of it is good. I doubt that's going to change anyone's mind who says that sort of thing about anything, but still.

Well I bought it, since I never buy any of the packs.
I have to admit, paying 10 bucks for 2 emotes, 3 new costumes,2 new costume emote changes and a new power is a bit much, but oh well...
The last month im spending with this game I might aswell try this stuff out.

You went from the poster's "good ninja anime" (of which, I agree, most if not all are suspect to being called something-not-good--though some are potentially fun if not at all deep or enthralling) to all anime being anything but good. That's...kind of a broad and unfair view, don't you think?

What's the problem again? Let the fools be parted with their money. While player X spends 10 bucks to get from 49 to 50, I'll play for an hour and get the same thing.

Self-heal? I'd be the fool buying that one.

Still not seeing a problem.
I don't enjoy a game where purse strings control power levels, that's all. We're not quite there yet, but I do NOT want to follow the example of those "free" to play MMOs where the only way to REALLY play is to fork out for all kinds of benefits. I tend to quit games that sell experience potions, epic items or outright levels for real cash without thinking twice.

Sweet! Love the new pack!

Now if they'd just correct Ninjitsu to the correct spelling (Ninjutsu), all of my oriental pet peeves are solved.

In reply to Sam's line of thinking, I've switched one of my VEATs to rely on the Ninja Sprint as her primary mode of transportation, at least in NW mode (I'm keeping Fortunata the way she is with Flight) and I do have to echo something that's been said before: Ninja Sprint is only really a travel power replacement for those who were playing without them before. It's not fast or powerful enough to rank up there with the true travel powers, but is a blessing for those who had concepts that didn't work with all the "super" travel powers.

I say it's just right. Like the other powers provided in booster packs, it's quite situational (so long as it cannot stack with other travel powers), still non-essential to gameplay (obviously it isn't, since the other travel powers beat the pants of Ninja Run for travel time, though perhaps not coolness), and does not give a significant advantage in combat (PvE or PvP--it does not, since it suppresses--two of the other booster powers, Self-Destruct and Mystic Fortune, actually provide more in-combat benefit).

It's fine, Sam. Don't worry.

That's both an ugly bias and patently untrue. "Good" anime is in the eye of the beholder, and I've not actually seen a SINGLE anime where people run like that, outside of Naruto, obviously. If "ninja" anime is all you've ever seen, then maybe, but something tells me you haven't exactly seen a lot of anime.

I was just about to head to the store and purchase this pack until I read that the sprint detoggles Combat Jumping; that's a deal breaker for my SR scrappers.

Maybe next pack...

While none of this pack appeals to me, personally, and although I won't be forking out for it, the logic behind it is good - my subs havent gone up since EU launch, and that's partly due to additional funding options like this. I may crack remarks about this being the Pokemon Pack, but it's cool that this is so popular - it means more cash to splash on really cool stuff like... well... whatever really cool stuff is being developed as we type.

So, even if you think the Pokemon Sprint power looks daft, you have reason to be happy that people are buying it in substantial numbers, because it all feeds in to extra sprinkles on the City of cake for us all.

First of all I love Ninja Run. It's not for all of my alts, but it will have its place. I have to say that so far it's been fun outside and very situational in mishs.

Walk to me is just what it was meant to be...a novelty. I can see how it can be used by the RPers and I say let em have at it.

bringit and pushups have some use for me as well.

Overall I have to say the past few days have been very fun while tinkering with these new toys.

Which brings me to the future. We know that if we squeak the wheel enough, sometimes it gets greased instead of replaced. The pushups emote places the character in a horizontal position...

Sleep Poses!!
Yes, now we can crash out in our SG Base, on a sidewalk, in a Bus Stop, or even take turns on that rooftop couch in Kings Row! Think of the possibilities there can be for a little R&R

It'll be bigger than the Snuggie!!

Super-Boosters will always be subject to personal preference - of course you'll find the booster appealing if you have characters that can benefit from it. For me personally this is the least appealing booster of the four (even though I have one Ninja character), though in some ways I think it's better value than Super-Science - but I'll buy it anyway because the extra half-helmet parts, the top-knot hairstyle, the shoulder piece, the Chinese sword and Ninja Run are worth £6 to me. Though with so many ninja costume parts in the character creator already I do wish the Natural booster had focused on natural concepts that are not so well served currently (cowboys, knights, soldiers, swashbucklers, etc.).

Like Sam I do fear the microtransaction slippery slope in subscription games, but I think we're way past the point of no return for most mainstream MMOs. At least the CoH/V Devs do give us fairly decent value for our money and they still give us plenty of free content as well (even if we don't get as much free content now with 60+ devs as we did with 15 on the team... I hope that will change post-GR), plus I can rationalise super-boosters as mini-expansions. By comparison I played WoW for 6 months post-BC and all I ever noticed Blizzard adding in free patches were talent tweaks and nerfs, and they certainly have a larger live team with more money to throw at them. I think our Devs here do us proud.

Even with optional microtransactions MMORPGs are still one of the cheapest forms of leisure activity that I know of, over time.

I base alot of my toons on natural origin, only using flight packs,zero-g packs, etc to get around.Yeah it's a pain, but,I have to stay with my character idea and the additional powers. So this coming out is a great thing for me,got to see it in action last night when someone was racing and jumping around obo.

So yea I'll get it,plus more costume pieces, emotes,it makes the game worthwhile.

Any of you guys having trouble applying the code from the booste pack once bought ?

Every time I try to add it to my account I get this message

You can't use the supplied serial code.

The supplied serial code is valid, but it can not be used to create a new account and it can not be applied to any accounts you already have.

What am I doing wrong ?

Seems to be a problem with buying a US code for an EU account, or vice versa. You need to contact support.

Ah damn it !
Didn't realize I was buying the US upgrade

I can't direct you to any links, but I know I've seen it in other anime (did notice the Dragonball Z callout later in the thread).

And, further, I have actually seen this run style in live action movies also. Not quite so 'over the top' as CoH's, which is clearly more anime inspired, but real-world examples, nonetheless.

The DBZ reference isn't true really, at least not for Goku. He pumps his arms as he runs, but he holds his hands in "chop" motions instead of fists. He fights a ninja in the original Dragonball series (when he's a kid) who runs like that, though.

The Ninja Run pose is seen in anime like Ninja Scroll, and a lot of video games with ninjas in them like the old-school Ninja Gaiden for NES.

All in all, it's a very stereotypical ninja thing to do.

(And since we've mentioned Naruto a couple times... my Elec/Shield Brute [with an electric shield] looks like he's doing a Chidori/Raikiri as he runs around. )

I hate it when people play idiotic semantic games like this. Context is as key to reading comprehension as semantics.

Sure, technically, Batman was retconned into being trained by ninjas. But that's not where the character started nor is it the sole influence on his aesthetic. The point myself and others were making is that ninjas and the anime style run are of a tight niche. You are being incredibly myopic if your post is meant to assert that the fairly recent manga take on the dress and movement of one culturally and historically specific set of assassins represent ALL possible obvious aesthetics for characters with a "natural" flavor.

There is a world of character aesthetics beyond manga and for some of us, at least for myself, contrary to the gospel of the internets, once you get over their ninjaness, ninjas are actually pretty boring. You can think me uncool and tasteless for not being that into ninjas or manga. I realize others LOVE these things and I make no apologies for our differences in taste.

But I really don't appreciate insinuations that those of us that aren't gaga over this pack simply don't get the aesthetics of the extended genre of super and pulp heroes because all natural characters are "martial artists" in the most literal sense of the words.

I get that this pack is the best thing since sliced bread for many folks out there. I have in game friends who are huge anime fans and have themed SG's and VG's dedicated to various anime inspirations. Their cries of elation filled several global channels last night. Their joy made me happy. Also, though the aesthetic of the run fits very few of my characters, I do not want to diminish the quality of this new animator's work. It is stellar and, bar none, this is now THE best travel animation in game. Between his/her work here and the work I've seen on dual pistols, I am very hopeful for what this person's talents will bring to the game in the coming years. More than likely, my disappointment is fueled by jealousy. I'd love my preferred aesthetics to receive this amount of talented attention and the resulting awesome customization options.

Anyways, despite having already bought the pack (yup, gonna support Paragon studios) and despite having found a few uses for a couple costume elements beyond the advertised theme of this pack, this remains the least useful and therefore most disappointing of all the booster packs for me. It reminds me of overspecialized lego pieces. You just can't do much else with them. On the whole, this pack doesn't much to help me further realize any of my natural concept characters in game. And that has zero to do with where a few authors decided to take the Batman narrative a few decades back (when coincidentally ninjas became a huge fad in the West) or the semantics of "martial" in its broadest and most generic meaning. This highly specific pack is anything but broad and generic. It's very clear in this case and in this discussion it is that historically and culturally specific definition of "martial arts" that most applies.

I like the notion of a "natural" travel power but I have to chuckle a little at statements like "This fits great into my natural theme!" when the power involves super-human speeds, jump heights, etc. I suppose it's mainly the lack of graphic effects like the SS flare that makes it more suitable? There's no "natural" explanation for jumping 20' into the air, unassisted.

That said, I'm tempted to get it for my naturals just because it's closer than any other option. I was hoping to get more costume pieces to explain some of the travel powers for naturals (jet/jump packs, rocket skates, whatever) beyond the rocket & (non-animated) piston boots. Stuff where you can still have a slotted Fly and be seen wearing a jet pack rather than puttering about in the purchased one. But I guess we're not there yet.
