No. They lost me. After GW2 turned stale (which happened with remarkable quickness) I went and bought an Xbox. I'm done with games I don't get to own and play whenever I feel like and can get shut down while I stand by and helplessly watch it rot.
I've been an MMO gamer for 10 years, most of it spent engaged in CoH. Watching the game that I love above all get screwed like this started off as more of a surprise than something that hurt, but has grown to something that really bothers me. NCSoft has effectively ruined my trust in MMOs. This was a game that I believed reached immortality, because it had enough die-hard fans to keep it running and turning a profit indefinitely. As it turns out, any MMO can be killed by one moron that controls its publisher, even one that was going to be profitable for decades if allowed.
So no, I won't be playing CoH again, because I put thousands of dollars into this game and have been repayed with a shattering of my sense of security and trust. I won't be playing any MMORPG again. The genre has died for me, and NCSoft pulled the trigger. -
Hi Everyone,
It has been a long time since I've posted anything, and most of you probably have no idea who I am. I've been largely absent from the community for the last couple of years because RL has demanded it. I've been with this game since one of the later waves of open beta, and I have a great many very fond memories associated with it.
I understand everyone's displeasure and rage that they've just gotten the news that something they care about is on its deathbed, when just recently it seemed so healthy and happy. I don't want to see this game end, and if I had a few spare million dollars laying around, I'd buy Paragon and keep it going. Alas, I'm not that wealthy, but I am willing to do what I can to save this game. Being angry with NcSoft for this move will do nobody any good, and will only hurt our chances of fixing this problem. We haven't heard any statements from NcSoft yet, so we don't know their side of the story. Some time very soon, there will be a press release with explanations and consolations and placations and all sorts of other -ations.
Until that time, all I can do is voice my support and love of this game and its development crew. If some hero comes in and saves this game I will rejoice, and if not I will mourn. Regardless of what the final verdict is, I will continue to support the cause as well as NcSoft.
To the rest of us who care about this game: Hate never helps anything. Hope never hurts anything. Never give up. Never surrender. Being a hero means finding hope in hopelessness, and fighting for a cause you believe in, no matter how dire the situation. -
Aww man, the 4th hottest person on the show died

Telling an autistic guy not to overreact is a lot like telling most people to stop breathing; sure, he can do it for a little while, but at some point he's just going to pass out and smack his head on the table because he tried standing up after abstaining for over a minute and a half, and then there's blood on the carpet so you have to go rent a freakin steam cleaner to...
...wait, what was I talking about again?
Anyway, my point is that Westley isn't going to stop overreacting to possible abuses of rules any sooner than I am. -
A better Panthro you'd never find

Yeah, this is a change I can get behind.
Every problem with the old new design gone, and every problem with the old old design fixed. Nicely done. -
I don't see why it's not Neuropolis. I think it sounds better, and doesn't lead people to believe its leader is someone who doesn't have any strong opinions one way or the other.

I didn't even wait to read this thread. I got home, opened my browser, looked at top thread in this section, promptly updated the beta client, closed the browser, and waited until it was finished updating. I'm back now that I've tasted disappointment... -
Quote:"Smells like cumin"You can't activate your medical teleporter when you've been blown to pieces/de-atomized/thrown in lava/smashed into a fine paste/hurled into the sun/had your skull crushed/been flat out killed with one strike.
I mean, the porter will fire I'm sure, but... I'm not sure the hospital would want what comes out of the tube. -
FREEEEMS! We need to call them Freeeems, people, c'mon, let's get with it! I let it slide when people didn't call Lady Grey's TF the RikTF, I'll be damned if I'll let you call our new free players anything other than Freeeems!
...
...sorry, it's been one of those days :P -
My name is NarfMann, and I support this thread.

You should have waited a few more days so the thread could have been a year dead when you raised it...

Quote:First thing's first, if you're NOT, don't post here. What's the point of a bunch of people saying "I'm going to maintain the status quo"?
You had to know that by saying this the majority of the responses would be "I'm going to maintain the status quo" right? I'm thinking this was the object of your research; to prove that people will be contrary just to be contrary.
Btw, I'm going to maintain the status quo. -
There is nothing wrong with Twilight vampires. They are killing machines. They are the things that dare to hunt the mighty humans, and they do so with no problem. The vampires themselves are perfectly fine unkillable terrors that you are powerless against. They walk in the sunlight; fine. They sparkle; whatever. They kill things and drain them of life; that's what vampires are all about.
The problem with the Twilight series lies solely in the main protagonist. She is a worthless pile of nothing, and anyone that idolizes her, as many girls in our culture do, is a very sad and pathetic person. The story is a basic love story that's not terribly well-written, and is unbelievably emo, but it's not horrible. The only horrible thing about that series is Bella, and everything that thinks she's worthwhile. -
Quote:No such thing as overkill when it comes to blastersWell, if you keep playing the trials, you'll be able to build up a second Interface and Judgement just for those situations. (And I tend to take the ones that fit the character, rather than whatever "teh ubar" is at the moment. So I have a fire/fire/fire/pyronic/reactive blaster.... which is a bit of overkill.)

I'm sad that I missed this thread the first time around.
It had some of the wrongest wrong wrongness that wrongness had ever wrongly wronged. Hilarious. -

How could you not love Season of the Witch? It was like someone recorded all of the dialog from a Saturday night D&D session, and then made a screenplay out of it. Then someone read the screenplay and said "Wow, this is some of the worst dialog and plot I've ever seen... We should make this movie, but only if we get the cheesy awesomeness of both Nicolas Cage and Ron Perlman"
Best crappy movie evar!
As to Conan, I think it has the potential to be awesomely cheesy, too. As a fan of bad movies, I look forward to it with great anticipation. -
Quote:Agreed. Being able to do Other Stuff while waiting on a queue would make me use it occasionally, though it would still suck and not be terribly useful unless it kept filling leagues until they were full, rather than to the minimum.Because the league system will only fill an in-progress league up to the minimum. I imagine this is mostly to reduce the need for the league to have to re-explain everything while in progress. Of course, it's moot point in general since we're not talking about there being that much traffic from the queue. I did think that the new league invite method allowed the league leader to grab folks from the in-progress queue though, that doesn't appear to be the case, but it would have been nice.
If the queueing league leader doesn't want to wait for open players in the queue to join their league, they can form a closed league and move on, not that big of a deal.
The same thing that happens without a timer when someone queues 10s after a team of 8 launch into Lambda. They wait for the next matchmatching group to get made.
Most of the qualms should really resolve themselves if people used the queue directly instead of preforming teams. But there are a few issues that generally dissuade folks from using them. And largely it results in a chicken and egg situation that rather sucks. Personally, I feel that making it usable while doing Other Stuff would dramatically improve it's usability. It'd struggle with perception now however due to it's history of ineffectiveness such that it may still need more 'kicks in the pants' to get people to start using it.
Fix these two problems, and the queue suddenly becomes a worthwhile tool. Fix either one, and it improves dramatically. -
Open Leagues in a trial need to let people in until the league is FULL. If that happens, people might actually get into trials, and people might actually use the queue. Also, people need to be able to go do other stuff.
As it is, useless feature is useless. -
Quote:How is that, exactly? All I can say is we better not hear **** else about the cottage rule after this issue goes live. You have literally nuked the cottage with this round of changes. Still mad about no illusion though. For the post i21 changes my guess is someone finally had the balls to get rid of dimension shift and they are fixing gravity control.
I'm fairly certain the devs don't even own a nuke, let alone have a spare one to pointlessly use on a cottage... -

Humans, as a species, become more successful and efficient the more there are. Population is our greatest natural resource, since a human mind can come up with the solution to any problem.
If each human mind is given more time, each one of them will become more effective and beneficial to society. With aging being a thing of the past, we will approach Utopia.
