COMBINED

Powers

General

  • Fixed a bug where some powers (i.e. Healing Aura, Warmth) would occasionally root a character in place when the power was activated.
  • Walk Power - All characters will now have access to a new inherent power -- Walk! This toggle power enables characters to move at a comfortable walking pace.
  • The “Walk” power is an Inherent toggle power given to all characters at Level 2 (like Sprint).
  • Please Note that powers or jumping (i.e. pressing the Space Bar) cannot be used while walking.
  • This power is not intended for use in combat.

Tailor
  • All references to ‘Talsorian’ in the game have been changed to ‘Vanguard’. Any character that currently uses any of these costume pieces or custom weapons will be required to change them when they make any changes at the Tailor/Facemaker. (Please Note that we will be granting a Costume token to players with the publish of this build on the Live servers).

CITY OF HEROES
  • none

CITY OF VILLAINS
  • none

Um... lol wut?

Most random update ever... though I'm betting the "walk" animation is going to be SUPER popular.

I'm puzzled why the term "Talsorian" is going away... aren't they already relatively established in-game? (haven't paid that much attention to their story, so no idea)

"Talsorian" is the name of a P&P RPG company. I'm going to go out on a limb and guess that, for whatever reason, they didn't enjoy this game's homage to their work.

  • I thought Sprint was available at level 1? Rest pops up at 2 (or maybe 3, I forget)
  • While kinda cool that we're getting this, I have a suggestion to make this less just a neat toy and more of a useful situational tool. Make it so while you're walking you don't agro NPCs, like you're stealthed with super speed, except you move very slowly. The idea is that since you're walking so slowly, you don't attract attention to yourself similar to how the NPCs walking around the city don't get attacked by every mob out there. You COULD use it to 'stealth' a mission, but it would just take you a while.

If this was implemented, I would make it no more than half of the stealth Super Speed gives you, or +17.5. Otherwise it would make Stealth completely redundant, as it gives you the exact same stealth. (Although you can attack out of Stealth, and it sounds like this power prevents you from attacking)

I do support giving it a -1 Threat level, though.

Feedback for Walk:

It's feminine. Any chance there could be different versions of it? My masculine characters are twisting their hips a bit too much to be considered masculine.

Walk is very nicely done; excellent execution with minimal effort: There's only a single animation per body type, your character actually turns instead of strafing/reversing, it's very very cool.

I, being me, am currently trying to break the speed/jump restrictions. No luck so far on my kin, but I have a feeling stacked SB/IR may be able to break it.

I'd also like to request that some powers be usable with walk on, mainly costume powers (temps and permatemps) and toggles that only affect yourself (that is, assuming it isn't given any form of stealth/-threat, if it is, then only the costume powers should be allowed).

We got walk now? I was under the impression that making walking work and not look silly was near impossible? SO what changed? Did the near impossible got possible or do we have a silly walk and van we join the Ministry?

They made it so you can't do anything else while walking. That probably made it a tad easier to do, but already someone has said it looks silly on their male character.

Why Blasters? Empathy Sucks.
So, you want to be Mental?
What the hell? Let's buff defenders.
Tactics are for those who do not have a big enough hammer. Wisdom is knowing how big your hammer is.

We got a stone tank in granite to superjump (stacked Inertial Reduction) and fly (stacked Group Fly). Drag the power to the chat window to get the details, see how much debuff it gives and compare it to Granite.

Can players on Macs please be allowed to choose to have mouse functionality instead of a walk power?

I already did and it seems to be hard capped somehow - no matter what buffs I apply to myself, the numbers are always the same with Walk on, and Walk doesn't even appear in the real numbers window.

The new walk animation looks absolutely beautiful!

But if I may offer one little suggestion: Make it revert to the classic slide stance if on an angled and slippery surface, like the ski slopes in Pocket D. Otherwise it might look a bit hilarious.

Unfortunately I'm not extremely familiar with what numbers and stats get affected how with stealth and super speed or how exactly to adjust those numbers to make sure its balanced to not trivialize stealth, but was just referring to the concept of making it so if you use it, you can avoid agro if you want to sacrifice speed.

But even if it gave the exact same stats as stealth + super speed as far as perception or threat-level or whatever it is, I don't think stealth would be redundant because you can still attack and function the same under stealth while it sounds like under walk you can move forward and turn and thats about it. Sounds to me like a fair trade off balance-wise and makes it a bit more useful than to just make your character move more slowly, but its not my decision.
