  1. Happy Cake Day, TheNet!
  2. Thank you for all the work you've done on City of Heroes, Black Scorpion. And best of luck with your new job.

Oh! Thanks for the link! I sort of thought the post-announcement Twitch chats weren't archived so didn't think to look for them. Still sorry I missed it live though.
  4. Bah, just got home so missed it.
  5. I'll have to echo Hyperstrike's comment regarding how all the developers have contributed to the game.

But Black Scorpion deserves a honourable mention though. Back when the Lambda and BAF Trials were in beta I happened to join him for a Lambda Trial, and whenever I or someone else got defeated he'd be there in a split second with a rez before our noses had even touched the ground.
  6. Another CoH emulator would be nice. Emulators are neat. People do amazing things with emulators.

Got to love the old Infocom adventure games. Rather than making separate versions for all the different computers that were on the market in the 1980's they instead made emulators for a theoretical computer called the Z-Machine, and then programmed their games for just that one. That way they could easily release their games across all computers without much hassle.
  7. Only those three servers? Well, it's better than nothing ... So sure, I could live with that.
  8. What an awesome wife you got! Happy Cake Day, AllYourBase!

And Happy Cake Day to you too, Derangedpolygot!
  9. Seeing as NCsoft and Perfect World are joined in a "strategic partnership" through Nexon I halfway feared some of our devs would be hired to work on Champions Online.
  10. Hasta la Wiedersehen and thanks for all the coffee talks, Zwillinger. I sincerely hope your next job will be with someone worthy of your qualities as a community manager.
  11. Yarrr! Have had the Talk Like a Pirate Day Song on repeat all day.

But! The contact told me to go talk to Lord Recluse himself, so that I could tell him about how I kicked his butt in the future. That conversation triggered the end of the arc, which gave me the story completion XP bonus, which gave me a very satisfying DING.

Might be the best timing I've had for a level. Certainly for hitting 50.
Most awesome time ever for a villain to hit 50!
  14. In all the years I've been playing City of Heroes there have been many times when I've thought "Wow! I can't believe we did that!" But there is one that stands out and which happened back in Issue 8, before there were such things as Invention Origin Enhancments.

You see, I was and still am a hopeless badge collector, and would often join any teams hunting the Signature Heroes and Arch-Villains in Recluse's Victory. However, back then there was a rather inconventient bug which made people crash out with no warning. I believe it may have been caused by capes or something like that.

Despite crashing out repeatedly I eventually got all the Signature Arch-Villains on my main hero, a Claws/Super Reflexes Scrapper ... except for one: Scirocco.

Scirocco always eluded me. Whenever he appeared I would inevitably crash out and miss out on the badge as the teams defeated him. Every. Single. Time.

Then one morning, when Recluse's Victory was relatively nice and quiet save for a another hero and Stalker or two, Ghost Widow and Scirocco appeared as I took over the Alpha pillbox.

I saw the two of them standing there, and wondered if it was possible to take down Scirocco solo on my Scrapper. So I lured Ghost Widow into one of the Police Drones near the hero-side base first and then looked at what temp powers I had available: A Cataphract, a Shivan Shard, a Biological Warhead, a Chemical Warhead, and thought to myself "Why not give it a try?"

And this is how it all went ...

(The reason why the screenshots are zoomed out is to make it easier to dodge any sudden PvP attacks.)

Now, due to the use of temporary powers this may not have been such a great feat, but considering how long I'd tried to get the badge for defeating Scirocco, and the nerve-wrecking presence of the Stalkers who could've attacked at any minute, this is was my first Moment of Awesome.
  15. I had an Amiga 500 and later an Amiga 1200, and loved playing games Defender of the Crown, It Came From the Desert, and Rocket Ranger from Cinemaware, and interactive fiction like The Pawn, The Guild of Thieves, and Jinxter from Magnetic Scrolls. The graphics on those games looked awesome back then. And still do actually ...

Oh, and the Bards Tale series of course. Would often stay up all night playing those.

    Waitaminute ...

Does this mean that NCsoft has removed the means for subscribers to access a service they've paid for from the homepage of said service with up to three weeks remaining on the monthly subscription?

    Brilliant move, NCsoft. Brilliant move.
  17. I've sent you a few .costume files of my main characters on Defiant as a .zip file.

Good luck with whatever it is you're up to!
