While I know there are probably already plenty of goings-on in the COH world on the 19th, it IS

Talk Like A Pirate Day!

Years ago, I established a supergroup on Pinnacle for this event, and invited whoever would dress and act like pirates (mostly my friends from Jello Shooters on Protector, but some other folks joined in too).

The base is still there, the group is still there though plenty of the existing characters on it haven't been played for several years.

So if there's some interest, I'd be happy to reopen the place (or get the person who has the star, since I was unable to log on for a while and she got to it first hahah MUTINY!) for an impromptu Pirate Day event.

Wait, I'm planning it, does that discount it being impromptu? Ah well!

It's too early in the day for me to already be talkin' like a pirate, or typin' like one anyway, so forgive that error. Don't keel haul me!

I don't have any idea whether there are other things going on, so input is welcome as to time or whatever else.

AHAR!!!!

I always wanted to try and make a pirate ship in the base editor... I wonder if anyone has (I'd bet on it)...

If I am around, I'll join in on the TLAPD fun!

Talk Like A Pirate Day is the 19th, not today (I can see how you'd misunderstand that though).

And yeah like I said my ship-building skillz are pretty sad but that was 2007, give me a break. I made it out of cabinets and wall fixtures.

Which ones show the ship itself?

I'm sure my ship would look just as boxy as you're describing, hehe (as, yeah, cabinets and wall fixtures were my first thoughts)!

it's really, really lame. If you squint you can kind of see a ship-like shape on the wall. Kinda. Sorta. Almost. I should go in and do something more with that now that I know the base editor kinda works okay.

OH!! Haha, no worries! I didn't realize it was just on the wall, I was looking for a full structure.

One of my best friends from high school had a pirate wedding, complete with sword fighting and threatening the guests at gunpoint if anyone objected to their union.

Thanks! I am kind of excited about it. When we were discussing dates, we were like... Labor day weekend? No that's PAX... Halloween? No I want to go out for that... November? No too close to Thanksgiving... Then I had a lightbulb moment and he looked at me funny and asked what was up. I was like... "BEST IDEA EVER. Talk like a pirate day is in September, which is in the fall, which is what we wanted, SO WE COULD TOTES HAVE A PIRATE WEDDING".

Next day he posts to Facebook, "I have the best fiance ever because who else would let me look for pirate gear for my wedding?"

Yes! It is pirate themed. I am more a corsetted tavern wench than a pirate lass, but it's appropriate; Iceworm went whole hog and got the whole costume shebang, down to a cutlass and flashbang pistol. Our friend doing the ceremony is dressing up like an era-appropriate officiant.

We have encouraged costumes from the peanut gallery. My brother looks rather like Johnny Depp so is coming dressed appropriately. I am highly amused!
