I16: Super-Sidekicking Explained
Hazard Zone restrictions are going bye-bye. Level 1s are getting into the RWZ not because they're super-sk'd up, but because the level requirement is gone.
It's no different than level 1 toons walking into Grandville or Peregrine. |
Wait. Does this mean that a group of level 1s can all go to the RWZ and start the story arcs there?

Energy/Energy Blaster Guide
Forgive me if this has been asked, I skimmed this thread and read a lot of it, and all the red name posts I could find, but there are 2 issues I would like clarification on from Positron or anyone else with a red name.
First: Does the earning XP while exemplared mechanic work with all forms of exemplar, not just Super Sidekicking? IE: Will I get XP if I am level 45 running a level 20 arc from Ouroborus; OR, will I now get XP as a level 45 running the Positron TF, therefor making it more worth my while to run it from any level in the game?
Second: With the hazard zones, are level caps being removed completely? Or do I have to be Super Sidekicked to a higher level to get in? IE Sidekicked to some one level 36 or higher to get into the RWZ? Or can I fly my Level 1 PB into any zone in the game except the Hami and PVP zones, regardless of if I am on a team or Super Sked or not...

....ok? how does this benefit me?
No offense, please take no offense...but I have read through 23 pages of material and I am not interested in the least? The only part that remotely interests me is the fact that SK isnt affected by range...I hated being on a team with a ADK mentor

This was the big announcement? That's it?
No, that was a big announcement.
I dunno, far as I'm concerned, not having to worry about having enough mentors for a PUG is one massive problem removed.
I think it's great news, one of the reasons that AE teams are so easy to get is the auto sk feature, this looks like a re-worked version of that. Hopefully it will help players to easily find teams anywhere and encourage people out into the city zones again. This could be the most significant part of i16 IMO.

Ok got a couple questions/problems.
1) Does this mean you can now have more than eight people on a mission? Let's say you invite peeps n have him leave the team?
2) Since the fact that there are individuals out there that are and well be jerks to you, and if you kick someone or they leave the party and they are still on the map.... What happens if you are on a map that you are tryin to get a badge from, say like the illusionist badge, and they decide to end your mission, or even on the mask mish for the badge? Anything?
3) And finally, if you change the e-mail system, I wont have the 300 some odd e-mails from RMTers trying to sell me inf... I'll be so sad not to wake up with my coffee, n have them there to greet me anymore.... :P j/k
Overall Good update, and thanks for info.

You will still have level restrictions on when you get the Midnight Arc entrance. Without the midnight badge no access to Cimerora.. without access... no ITF.
Isn't that the same with RWZ..? Then again. RWZ is a known location.. while Cimerora is a secret... a time portal...

Current implementation on Training Room is "character" friends list.

As such I cant remove the inactive accounts. With the current list cap... how do I clean it up?

This is impressive and very welcome news for teams. Even better than no sidekick tetris is no more chasing the mentor or sidekick in order to stay alive. However:
They outlevel it, just like normal. Super-Sidekicking cares about the level of the mission OWNER, not the level of the mission.
|
I very much HATE the outleveling system and don't understand why it exists. With the super-sidekicking system it could become impossible to store lower level arcs and do them at their level by inviting a person to exemplar you.
It is often necessary to turn off XP just to complete a single NPC's missions if you team, and with even more XP at lower levels that will become increasingly necessary. I just started a warshade and found I had to turn off XP even while soloing at 1-4. Being able to avoid such tweaking would be far more enjoyable.
Thanks for reading.
A game is not supposed to be some kind of... place where people enjoy themselves!
Can't wait for this to hit live.
If they are killing off powerleveling, that means this game is financially secure for the forseeable future and we can all stay awhile longer.
![]() I have to say that I am shocked to see that Exemplaring will earn XP as well, however, I'll try not to faint over all of this good news. Thanks for the info, Posi. ![]() ![]() ![]() |

You don't defeat 1000 PPD along the way to 50 unless you level off of nothing but newspapers and mayhems. You only get that badge by grinding it out.
|
What they do all tend to do is the L40-45 arcs from Westin Phipps in Grandville (usually because I avoid Dobbs as my duo partner hates Arachnoids, Korol's & Kuhr'Rekt's arcs are so short, and I don't find No 204's arc is worth the hassle of hunting 200 Toxic Tarantulas to unlock it - once was enough). The PPD in those tends to get me Outlaw every time. If it doesn't for some reason then you can always do Television at L45-50 as he has PPD in his missions too - as does Abyss at L45-50 iirc (specifically on the Sunstorm arc). Any PPD count for Outlaw, not just mayhem mission ones.
Farming Infernal's summoned demons for Hero Slayer will be harder now. It looks like the best way will be to get the mission at 30, then hold the mission and level that character to 50.
|
I do have a few characters that didn't have to farm his Behemoths at all, because they did a few LRSFs for the extra hero credit through "normal" gameplay, but honestly as I said earlier I think Hero Slayer should only need 25 signature heroes, just for parity with the blueside badge Villain Disruptor (which only needs 25 signature villains from the [Arachnos] and [Rogue Isles Villains] factions, iirc).
So yes, please do look at the requirements for some of the badges, especially accolade requirements. Hero Slayer and Outlaw I mentioned already. Most of the others can be had through outdoor hunting, which is fine, but while you're at it maybe think about some of those too?
|
Usually I have around 4-6 arson credits towards Firebug when I hit L50 (though one of my recently levelled L50s only had 3 arson credits by L50). Sure, you can easily get the arsons off a single L45-50 (or L40-45) mayhem if you have a friend with it and they log out while you do just the arson in their mayhem, then they reset the mission when they log back in, but it's a tad annoying to have to game it like that (though less annoying than having to do another 20-30 newsies and 4-6 mayhems to get it solo).
I think Firebug should be changed so that either everyone in a mayhem team gets arson credit not just whoever clicked the final firebomb, or (more preferably) just change it to requiring five arson completions instead of ten.
200 Marcone bosses still takes a while even if you can get a full team interested. Trying to get it solo in one sitting is RSI waiting to happen.
|
Though it would be much easier to get Gangbuster for the unlockable contact if it was set to 50 or 100 bosses, and some L30-34 Marcone bosses were added to St M somewhere. I've only done Slot Machine (L30-35) once normally (i.e. not through Ouro) and while it was a decent enough arc it wasn't memorable enough for me to want to go farm grey con Marcone bosses in Marconeville (Port Oakes) to unlock it on other characters as they level up (because all of the existing Marcone bosses in St M are L36-38 iirc).

Serious Question- Would you still lose IO bonuses when exemping?
Infinity and Victory mostly
dUmb, etc.
lolz PvP anymore, Market PvP for fun and profit
The second feature is what we have come to call Super-Sidekicking but actually applies to all types of Sidekicking: Exemplaring, Lackeying, and Malefactoring as well. With this system, everyone in the team will find themselves automatically level adjusted to the level of the owner of the Mission that is currently selected. If there is no mission that is currently active, then the level is set to the leader of the Team.
If you are below the level you are getting set to, you are automatically sidekicked up to one level below the owners level, just as if you had sidekicked to them. If you are above the level, then you will be lowered to the level of the owner, just as if you exemplared down. The players dont need to do anything for this to happen, it all happens automatically. This means that no matter what level ranges you have in your group, you can ALWAYS play together and you can ALWAYS get XP. Yes, we are even changing the way exemplaring works so that you get XP while you are fighting at a lower level. There will be an option of having the old way of exemplaring, and earning extra Inf. instead, for those players who want to earn some more Inf. instead of levels. |
The pool of realistically available players for recruiting teams just got a lot bigger.
So are there any plans in place to revamp the character search interface?
Even just allowing teamed/solo to be filtered and a larger set of displayed results would be starter steps... And, unless it's becoming important in planned future issues, why is origin shown in the search results? Heck - show more of the search comment rather than irrelevant information.
Any hope of a team-based/LFM search (to complement the character-based search)?
There was a dev (BaBs?) commented a while back that they'd had some thoughts about this - did it end up unworkable? Or might we see a LFM search soon?
Just thinking that the changes would seem to make teaming easier - but the larger pool of possible teammates could perversely make it somewhat harder to recruit without improving the search tools. Being able to search teams that are recruiting would be the real icing on the cake once super-SK makes teaming with anyone easier.
Yeah, Okay... I'm being greedy.

I'd go even further and say expand it out - let us decide if we want to accept mail from people on our global chat channels as well as a our global friends list.
As one of the EiCs of the US City Scoop, I don't have all of the Scoop members on any of my friend lists - but I do have them all collected neatly on a global channel. I'd like to be able to receive email from them. I'd like to be able to receive email from anyone on the base builder's channel. I don't know that I necessarily want to receive anyone from the Triumph channels I'm on, however. If at all possible, let channel membership help define permission lists.

Wait..! This can't be right...
You will still have level restrictions on when you get the Midnight Arc entrance. Without the midnight badge no access to Cimerora.. without access... no ITF. Isn't that the same with RWZ..? Then again. RWZ is a known location.. while Cimerora is a secret... a time portal... |
Also, right now you can get the Midnighter Club badge at any level simply by being teamed with someone doing the last mission of the Midnight Club intro arc (i.e., you don't have to be the mission owner), so with Issue 16 you should be able to get a lowbie into Cimerora just by making sure you've teamed with someone doing that arc first.

The Midnighter Club is Badge restricted. Anyone can get the badge by being on the team when someone completes the last mission of the appropriate arc.
Theoretically, a lvl 3 will be able to Mission Teleport to their supermentor's mission in Cimerora without getting the badge.
Wavicle, Energy/Energy Blaster, dinged 50 in Issue 4, summer of 2005.
@Wavicle, mostly on the Justice server.
i.e. you'll get badge credit whenever you're owner of the active mission - or when there's no active mission if you're the team leader - that others in the team below your level are being super-sidekicked to.
This is the best part of i16. PC is now second fiddle.
