Capes at level 1 ?

Ok - in my mind, CoX lore states that Heroes can't have capes until level 20 in honour of Hero 1 (that was the original story). You had to 'earn the right' to wear one.

So - with the Valkyrie pack out, you can have a cape from level one.

Have we stopped caring about Hero 1's sacrifice?

You've been able to have a cape at level 1 for quite some time now, the 21 month veteran reward allows you to have a shoulder cape from level 1.

Yes i stopped caring when he tried to cave my head in

Also I've never really seen the point as Hero 1's sacrifice is only relevant to the heroes of paragon (and maybe the rest of the US and the UK) why would say russian or Chinese heroes stop wearing a cape?

In short capes are like auras the only reason the fluff about them exists is to describe the fact that they represent a carrot eg

"look at this get to lvl20 and you can ware this cool cape and get to lvl 30 and you get a cool aura"

It would be far better if they got shot of the cape and aura level limit and instead replaced those carrots with something more fitting. For lvl 20 maybe a hero 1 cape or special costume piece (think of it like DC heroes wearing the Superman S if big blue sacrifices him self) its also if done well something any hero could ware regardless of if they would ware a cape or not.

Same for auras why would my magic origin hero need a some weird tech pace maker power control thing and vice versa for my tech villain why dose he need to unlock his powers that are fully routed in technology and his own twisted genius by using something as un scientific as magic

Give us auras and capes out of the box, give us a level 10 and 50 costume mission instead. Having to level up to 30 to give my big robot hero glowing eyes? Or sparking electric round my mutant blaster?

Doesn't make much sense.

I don't know, maybe because the Omega Team stopped the Rikti from conquering the entire world?

For myself, I have a grand total of one alt that wears a cape, and that's one of the vet reward ones, so I really don't care when people get to wear them. But they are such a huge part of the superhero lore that it did seem a bit silly you had to wait to get one.

However, it turned out that Smith was not a time-travelling Terminator

Entire world? pft, lets see them try and take over wales! We have dragons!

Personally i see the journey of level 1 - 50 as one big training programme, in that you start off as a person who has only just recently got his powers and must figure out how to use them (and as such, the more experienced you are with your powers, the more you are able to manipulate it into different things *attacks/def*).

If i ever got superpowers, i wouldnt get a cape superhero outfit until i know im powerfull enough to be called "super" (level 20 ). So in my mind it all makes sense to me anyway.

You do realise that in the 'City of' universe that's probably true...the Dragon on the welsh flag is actually a gigantic ancient mystical guardian that turns up whenever wales is threatened by non-human invasion, was probably the only thing that kept the Rikti out of Wales (especially since England is mentioned but never Scotland (the Rikti were just too damn scared to even try) or Wales).

Anyway...yeah since the big reveal about Hero-1 I don't think his memory really should be honored anymore, the truth needs to come out about what happened to this hero!

What's with the fuss about capes anyway? I rarely do the cape mish the instant I hit 20. Usually it's anywhere between 20 to 50 when I have time/no arcs going/I'm bored. Same with auras, except that I usually do their respective mish somewhere in the 30-40 bracket.

I always make the first costume of a character go well without a cape and I dont do the cape mish (or any extra costume mishes) until I have an idea of a costume that looks good with a cape.

Just my 2 cents though..

Everyone knows Scotland is protected by an immortal swordsman. Some call him the Highlander. Others call him William Wallace. All you know is, you can't take his life or his freedom.

Pro points for allowing auras and capes at level 1:

More variety, freedom of choice and access to concepts. I know someone who had to wait 20 levels for his Caped Crusader homage to actually get a cape. Want to make a Fire Blaster who comes from the sun and burns with flaming energy? Going to have to level up to 30 before you can burn like that! A dark whisping shadow /DA scrapper/brute/stalker with glowing red eyes? 30 again.

As i understand it the rikti did invade Scotland but left again due to a number of reasons prime among them being that when invading Glasgow they returned to there drop ships to discover them burnt out and sitting on bricks even tho guards had been posted and security devices set.

After this set back it was decided to invade another town and then however when a rikti strike team destroyed a local nutrition dispensary (cross ref Pub) they were set upon by a mob of apparently super powered individuals who were in previous to pain and possed super strength (they did however seem to lack balance).

There was also numerous mentions of "haggis" its unclear at this time weather haggis is a super powered individuals code name, a horrendous creature of some description, or something the local populace eat.

I thought you could take his life - just not his freedom??? At first when I started playing lvl 20 and 30 were a milestone for me to work towards getting a cape and an aura. Now I have been playing a while it is more of a chore - so much so that on a lot of my alts I havent bothered with either!

You could just get the Mac Pack now and use the code. £9.99 for a Month of game time (IE, 8.99) and the Valkyrie Costume and Mission Teleporter instead of 2.99... I think for the latter. Something like a 2 or os month exclusivity period on the pack.

Meh, said this in another thread, but...

I prefer the one-shoulder capes and have them on exactly one costume slot on one alt. Aside from the obvious issues pointed out by dear Edna (see above), I just don't dig the whole cape thing. However, War Crow thought he should have a real 'hero outfit' for special occasions. It's like a dress uniform.

This just reminded me how great a film that was. Great and original names, and very, very funny.

Also, capes at level 1. WANT.

That's all.

I agree, you'd have thought they would have figured out by now who the Honoree is...right?
Ergo, hes not dead, ERGO no need for the tradition.
Costume slots at every lvl 10, agreed. And SPECIAL auras and capes or details at lvls 20 and 30.

I really hope I15 is something special. Theres so many niggly little problems that could really do with looking at.
