Oh, cry me a river.

I get a lot of static from different people here- so what.

That's the internet- deal with it.

Just bought two of 'em.

Gotta admit this one feels a little liteweight. Not quite a full set's worth of costume pieces and it lacks a new power like Self Destruction and Mystic Fortune from the two previous boosters. The lack of a special power is where I think this booster will suffer the most, I know too many players who only picked up the previous boosters for those powers.

After a week or two has passed would one of the devs consider posting sales numbers for the three packs? Would love to see how they stack up against each other. If the specific numbers are something that they'd prefer to keep private how about just a sales ratio?

the bonus power of the super science booster pack is the super tailor feature. which i really dont consider a special power at all, since its the tailor that does all the changes.
and the fact that its only a "science power" is a laughable also.
direct quote from online store-
"Transform from a 98-pound weakling into a huge beast! Experience spontaneous gender reversal! These amazing things are possible with-science!"
yah right, these things are only possible with science....keep trying devs

i bet the magic booster pack sold the most. with the cool capes, hoods, magic bolero, witch parts and hats, fortune power, I am certain it has to be the most popular. it had the most to offer.
next would be the mac edition with the valkryie parts.
after that cybog.

No he isn't lying, because every time anyone says anything that isn't the most abject praise, they get told ".... so maybe this isn't the game for you, maybe you need to be somewheres else."

Maybe you're just not seeing it, but yes it happens at least once in 98% of threads dealing with serious issues, feedback threads or really, any thread that reaches sufficient size. Its the stock response for everything:

"OMG this chat bug is driving me crazy!!"

"Maybe you'd best get over yourself, shut up and leave this game which clearly isnt for you, cry moar plz."

Lovely.

The difference is that "static" pertains to only you. People being told to leave the game hurts everyone in the long run, because we may lose subscribers if someone hears that enough times.

So what is the first thing you are doing with this?

[/ QUOTE ]

I'm just hoping they either, stop nickel and dimeing us, or at least nickel and dime us for better booster packs. We went from Cyborg to magic, and now we have probably the worst/gimpiest booster pack. Literally worth five dollars. And I'm just being objective. By comparison alone all the other packs blow this one away.

Now, now, they won't sell anything that isn't already available through gameplay.

[/ QUOTE ]there is some wiggle room, they say that anything that affects the game will be available through regular play. costume bits, for instance, don't affect the game, they just affect aesthetics...and so it begins...

The Wedding Pack was the the most lightweight "booster," imho, and actually the only one I don't have and won't get.

Self Destruct also pales in comparison to the useful of Mystic Fortune. Then again, I'm more than happy just to have the Super Tailor feature.

So, being in Brazil and all I simply can´t buy this Super Booster... The frigging company that sells CoX franchise in here haven´t even put the Magic Pack up for sales yet.

Anyway, for what I´ve read no glass helmet yet?

Stealing from you? Yeah that's a load of BS. You didn't buy the booster so you're not out any money. Your sub fee only gets you access to the servers. The company doesn't promise anything more than that.

[/ QUOTE ]

Not true. My monthly subscription, as with all other MMOs, is based on the promise of added content as time goes on...a "constantly evolving world".

But THIS change should have been a free one, and you all know it.

And for the record, I never claimed this was a "full-fldged" expansion pack...I said it is an expansion pack...which it is. It added to the game and there is a fee for it...that makes it an expansion.

Updates add to the game and are free. There's the difference.

BTW, after the next issue, you can expect another item added to the store...

...a "Full Reroll" type of respect so people can rechoose their power pools. (That I can understand charging for).

Charging for the gender thing is wrong, no matter how you dress it up.

As I said above, I understand charging for things like the wedding pack and the Mac Pack, and such...but that feature should have been made available to all.

And tell me something...how come other MMOs can expand with the Subscription fees to finance thm, but this one can't? Poor management of finances I'll bet.

I got nothing to add, accept for this truism:

You get what you pay for.

As to why they don't up the subscription.. why "punish" other customers for said product? If you want it.. and they offer it at a disclosed price, then.. the obvious. No one is twisting your arm.

Didn't read through the entirety of this thread, so my question may have already been asked and answered. Nonetheless...

Several weeks ago, when this booster pack was put up on the test server, I ventured over to check out the size change feature. At that particular time, there was no option to use free tailor sessions when all one did was change the given character's height. The price of that change was well over a million in Influence.

For those of you who've already purchased this pack: is it now possible to use free tailor sessions? Or must you use Influence still?

Thanks.

When *I* think of super science stuff, I instantly think of Mr. Fantastic, Galactus, The Watcher, Elders of the Universe,

[/ QUOTE ]
Mr. Fantastic ok, but the others aren't science. They're Cosmic.

[/ QUOTE ]

More relevantly, they are "Natural." Whatever the Natural origin may have meant back in 2004, what it means now is characters whose powers come to them just for being who they are and aren't in any way special for them. Gulliver's size and strength would have been viewed as a natural super power in the land of little people, despite him being just an average man, say.

[/ QUOTE ]

I think Galactus would be Science, possibly, considering he was fairly normal til he survived the end of his universe.

Provide a link to this "promise " you claim was made.

[ QUOTE ]

[/ QUOTE ]

That's only your opinion. The company obviously doesn't agree, and judging from the number of people that have bought the booster, a lot of players don't agree with you either. If they did they wouldn't have bought it.

[ QUOTE ]

[/ QUOTE ]

That's been in the game for 5 years. The devs call it creating a new character. You can do it 12 times per server on a basic account.

[ QUOTE ]

[/ QUOTE ]

Again that's your opinion, but I'm not going to say that it is wrong because I can sympathize with this particular point of view, however I also think it does fit the theme of the science booster i.e. "Mad Scientist".

[ QUOTE ]
And tell me something...how come other MMOs can expand with the Subscription fees to finance thm, but this one can't? Poor management of finances I'll bet.

[/ QUOTE ]

And which MMO's would that be?

WoW which charges for it's expansions?
Guild Wars which charges for it's expansions?
Dungeon Runners which is introducing microtransactions because it's sub fees aren't covering the bills?
Champions Online which is advertising that it will also have microtransactions so it can cover it's costs?
Exteel which relies solely on microtransactions to pay the bills?

I'll admit I'm not familiar with all the MMO's, so which ones are you talking about that exist solely on their sub fees and continue to offer new content for free.

In this post you said:

MC Soft = Sony now I guess...no, wait...at least Sony gives you a bigger world with each paid expansion...and more levels.

[/ QUOTE ]

You compared the Science Booster to a paid expansion of the type that Sony puts out. To which I replied that this was a mini-pack, not an expansion. I played EQ, I don't think I paid less than $50 for an expansion. Please tell me what expansions they put out that gave more content and more levels for the price of the Booster. If you're now going to say you weren't comparing the two, why did you mention Sony at all?

[ QUOTE ]

[/ QUOTE ]

Updates will continue to be free.

So now we have Free Updates, Paid Expansions, and Paid Boosters. The game is evolving. It's not rocket science.

Too bad it isn't an entirely positive evolution to many of us.

I'm curious as to what it would take to upset people when it comes to the boosters. Would you still be fine with it no matter what was put in them?

[/ QUOTE ] Personally ... as long as free things of quality are still being released ... yea. Yea, I'm fine with just about anything in packs.

If it's something I want then I'll pay for it and if there's nothing I want then I won't. Seriously, I went to the movies today and spent about twice what I did for this booster pack (more actually). These things aren't terribly expensive in the scheme of things, generally less than a non-matinée movie ticket really.

I'm glad I do not go to the movies you do to....10+ dollars a ticket?!

Posted

I must admit that I would have liked a power to be thrown in, but I am happy to pay $AU12 for the height and gender change ability. That being said, I'm not happy to pay this amount for the Wedding Pack because although it's also all costumes and emotes, it's not attractive enough for me (I can say the same about purchasing respec tokens....).

I'll happily pay for a booster if I feel its features are sufficient to warrant handing over my card details, as I do feel that over the past nearly 3 years I've got a lot of content and feature updates for my basic subscription charge.

Posted

Sorry, sorry. I misremembered. It's $9.50 for a movie ticket (7 for a matinée, which I don't get to go to much). Today though I noticed they've drastically raised the prices on concessions, by about a dollar on just about everything except candy. I spent $12 on a popcorn and soda ... by some odd trick of pricing and combos it was actually cheaper to get a large of both than a medium like I wanted ... anyone out there need half a bag of slightly stale popcorn?

It's five bucks here for a matinee, and $7.50 for an evening showing.

Go ahead and link us a local theater where you're not paying less than $9-10 for normal adult tickets that isn't a 2nd-run theater.

I'd like to move there, if that reflects general prices.
