Super Science Booster III On Sale Today!
[ QUOTE ]
So, being in Brazil and all I simply can´t buy this Super Booster... The frigging company that sells CoX franchise in here haven´t even put the Magic Pack up for sales yet.
Anyway, for what I´ve read no glass helmet yet?
[/ QUOTE ]
Why not buy it online in the PlayNC store? It's what I did, because in the country where I live, these things would NEVER ship at all, and even if they did they'd be the EU version I don't need.
As for the question at hand, I actually prefer booster packs, because costumes added to the game as normal get locked behind some inane, stupid requirement like defeating 100 Overseers or completing a 35+ TF or grinding out 1000 Vanguard merits for a full set or some such. $10 every few months isn't a lot compared to trudge and heartache on EVERY DAMN CHARACTER WHO WANTS THEM. And don't even get me started on veteran costume pieces. I have 'em all, and I STILL think 50+ months is a bad criteria to unlock a costume piece.

Got mine earlier today, hoping to mess around with it this weekend.

Go ahead and link us a local theater where you're not paying less than $9-10 for normal adult tickets that isn't a 2nd-run theater.
I'd like to move there, if that reflects general prices.

9 bucks, sure. 11 or more? No.
But I never go at night. Seems odd to pay 4 dollars more to go later with a bigger crowd.
I should add - pretty much the only things I wanted from the Science Pack were the face details and the Super Tailor.
Face details I already put to good use, replacing Nathaniel's goggles and ninja mask face with a full face plate and gas mask, and he looks AWESOME!
I haven't changed anyone with the Super Tailor yet, but I have a giant woman and a humongous cyborg to make bigger, and I will, as soon as I get around to playing them.

So now we have Free Updates, Paid Expansions, and Paid Boosters. The game is evolving. It's not rocket science.
[/ QUOTE ]
Too bad it isn't an entirely positive evolution to many of us.
I'm curious as to what it would take to upset people when it comes to the boosters. Would you still be fine with it no matter what was put in them?
[/ QUOTE ]
Why would I be upset no matter what's in a booster? If I don't like what's in it I won't buy it. Don't you think the company knows that? Don't you think they'd dangle at least one carrot that they know players will want badly? In this case the gender swap.
I just don't understand the mentality of wanting everything at the same $15 a month price in perpetuity. I don't understand the mentality of people that don't want someone else to have something they don't. And people call NCSoft and the devs greedy. Go figure.
It's not greed, it's business.
What would be greed is like what "free" MMOs like 9Dragons do - you can play the game, only you will suck and take forever to level... Unless you BUY temporary buffs and BUY temporary double, triple or even quadruple experience, BUY items and so on and so forth.
Buy a few extra cosmetic costumes now and then? Why not? Don't want to? All the same.

"People call NC Soft and the devs greedy." They're not greedy, they're simply running a business. I was agreeing with NancY

As long as they continue to give us free issues they can sell me as many extras as they want
And look, they still put the big stuff in free issues too! MA, Power Customisation and stuff is still free! It's only a few baubles that they're selling, the real gems are still free
To be fair, after-the-fact height customization is something I feel should have been put into the game as standard, not as a booster, because inability to change height SUCKS. But given how they implemented it, I can see why it was impossible to give us height changing without giving us model changing - they're both on the same page of the editor...

Agreed, some of those new goggles are really nice.
My current MM, Watership Doom is somewhat cyber-y looking s I took her to the tailor to try on the Death Goggles (along with a glance at the other new options). I'd seen pictures of them and thought they'd fit her pretty well. ZOMG they were great on her, very creepy! She's like 29.5 right now, so I can't wait to do her third costume slot.

Provided that the packs are good value for money and that we still get lots of free stuff I'm happy for their existence. The Wedding Pack was a poor value pack, Booster I and II were good. Not bought them, but I'm fine with them doing stuff like this.
Having said this, this one annoys me because it's the science booster pack, but the big feature isn't really science-related, it's just a feature that people have wanted for a long time. In a way this makes me think it's less of a value for money pack than the previous two, since people who want a science booster get the booster and a size changer they may not really want, and vice versa. I just wish they had put together a really good pack of SCIENCE, especially since we may not get another booster in this area.
Dear Devs,
As much as I love the Super Science booster, I am dissapointed that you continue to neglect a sizable portion of the playerbase by failing to add Speed Suits. As everyone knows, anyone who spends years screwing around with Super Science must have a Speed Suit. Therefore, I find the lack of such to be a grevious oversight on your part. As such, while I would love to give the pack a good rating, I must instead announce that my endorsement is denied.
Sincerely,
Liquid Horation X

So you're saying science has nothing to do with altering DNA, Transgendering, and all around molecular restructuring?
To me, that's a bucket load of science right there.

Only as much as it could be from Tech, Mutation or Magic
I accept it has Science-y uses, but it's more of a general thing IMO.
I mean don't get me wrong, this will possibly be the first pack I will get. But for me, it's not as good for the science player as the magic or tech for the magic or tech players. I mean even if we put the size changer as the power in the pack (Even though it's not a power ) and say the costumes are equal, we get less emotes than either, less auras than the Tech and less costume emotes than the magic. I just find this dissapointing. Hoping the natural and mutant packs get back on the BPI and II level.

That's one explanation you can use for the dramatic differences in costumes possible with the Super Tailor. Another is what I used for my Mind/Fire Dom: he's a shapeshifting demon, and his alternate slots that are dramatically different from his base costume are different forms he takes to deceive humans.
The point I'm trying to make is that the Super Tailor feature in and of itself didn't HAVE to be part of a themed booster, as the ability to drastically alter one's appearance is not something specific to Science origins.
That being said, I'm not really upset it was in the booster. I can understand where some might be frustrated though.

Yeah, that's what I'm saying. It's a general feature more than a science feature, I would prefer that if it was a paid thing it was in a general pack and the science pack had something more science-y.
I think I also wouldn't mind as much if we didn't also have less emotes/combat auras/costume change emotes than the other two.
Ah well, I'll live. Still a step up from the Wedding pack (Where if a person who only played male characters wanted the jacket with tails he basically had to pay for that alone)
For what I know it´s an online only buy... The thing is that I CAN´T buy anythng from teh NCSoft store. They have an agreement with this company here in Brazil that only they can sell stuff for Brazilian. Go figure...
