2. Yes. In the days before we had easy access to global names from a SG list I would E-mail the character if they were removed for reasons of space.

Our small SG uses it send weekly updated lists of the salvage that we have in the base storage.
Our members play all kinds of scattered hours, so this is a nice way to let someone know when a particular piece of salvage that they may have been looking for shows up, so they can save themselves a trip to WW.

Yes. Someone sent me their password and account with their PLing directions. I assume they sent it to me by mistake instead of the one who was supposed to PL them.

2) Yes, to in game friends when we missing each other in game.
Now those two examples represent a handful of times when email was used for it's proper purpose. Balance that against the literally hundreds of RMT spam. But this was just like normal e-mail before spam filters so I don't mind.

Yes, I have and still do receive non-spam emails, usually from SG members, reminding me of scheduled events.
Yes, I have sent emails to friends and SG mates, sometimes just to say 'Hi!', other times to relay important SG info.
And spammers are getting fewer and further between. More and more I find myself deleting spam from empty (already banned) users. Just keep using that Spam button and don't use their services and eventually they will just go away.
Make sure to inform new players of their techniques and suggest ways to earn influence and level up without using their services. The unknowing newbs (especially players from other games that utilize these kind of services) are their main targets.

Easy now, I was just asking to see if it's still used. With globals and whatnot it seems a bit outdated. I was curious, and I'm glad some people told me what they use it for. Thanks!
I wasn't about to make a suggestion to just remove it entirely if people use it.

Yes to both. More often it's me sending than it's me receiving. When i do SG clean ups, i will send an email to whoever is being removed with info on who to contact if they start playing again and want a reinvite. More characters allowed and better formatting than you can do with tells.
