Quote:i would be happy to be able to switch "on the fly" with those limitations. The only way I would be ok with build switching without visiting an NPC would be:
- Set Player Health 1
- Set Player Max Regeneration 0, duration 60 seconds.
- Set Player Max Endurance 0, duration 60 seconds.
- Set all powers state to Initial Recharge.
- Wipe all Buffs/Debuff on character.
In other words, we do NOT want players to be able to situationally change power selections. -
All those people that were filling those farmer missions for lack of any other teams will now be free to team. So for every farmer there will now be 7 other people available for real missions.
-
Try to time it for when a free weekend comes up and then you won't be paying anything.
Of course, waiting until next summer might be a bit much.

my own GEForce 6800 died a couple of nights ago while playing and that fairly well describes what i was seeing before it happened. i'm now on the older card i upgraded from and can't play CoH (too ancient to work with the game).
my recommendation is to first try reseating your video card (pull it out, then put it back in) to make sure it's not just loose. If you still have the problem, try using another video card (steal one for a moment from another computer, find an old card lying around, or whatever) to see if you have the issue with a different card. If it goes away when the reseating or a different card, then at least you've discovered the problem. If not, you may need to dig further for the cause of the issue.
i'm missing playing CoH right now, since i was working on saving up enough money to upgrade my system two MONTHS from now, but at least i can log into forums and such with the current, older card. -
This sounds like something you need to petition in game.

i've been working on my crafting badges all week with an alt and haven't had a bit of problem. When i buy something, it's in my inventory afterwards.

Quote:Yup! Loved that game! i agree that CO feels a LOT like it, in artwork especially.Anyone here played Freedom Force? The game feels a LOT like that. (Which is a good thing in my book!)
If only my computer could handle playing CO. *sigh* my Husband took this entire week off for vacation to play CO (He had to spend the vacation time, so might as well spend it here.) Originally, we were planning on duoing ourselves into a coma all week, but my computer just wouldn't allow that. So the duo partner for my first character is now her "reason for being" and will probably be 40 before i get a chance to really play my girl. Hubby already created a new duo partner (also someone "related" to His first hero), so once we get my new motherboard, memory, video card, etc. we'll be good to go! -
Quote:They clear everything when they do a generic. They just don't care. And remember... old geometry teachers never die, they just go off on a tangent.
::cough::
Anyway, back to the OP... when the "backstory" was erased, do you mean the character bio? If so, what was in that? If the only thing the GMs were possibly concerned about was the name, I doubt they'd clear the bio as well. -
Quote:Having Thor in your name CAN get you genericed, whether or not it's related to the comic book. Happened to me and no amount of escalation removed the generic on my (by then) demonic girl with the name "Thorsinger."Try again, the image of Thor, god of thunder is restricted. The name thor cannot be restricted, due to the fact it has been in use for thousands of years. If i made a comic book with a character named GOD, i could not get a trademark on the use of the term god.
The funny thing is, she was going through an RP transformation and a few months BEFORE that, they might well have had a case, since i had one outfit that might have looked a bit like Norse Myth. But by the time (3yrs after her creation) she got genericed, she'd been going through some heavy RP transformations and had red skin, horns, and a very skimpy set of outfits. In the end, i was basically told that just having Thor in her name was enough, in this case.

Most of my IRL friends have bought lifetime subs, so Hubby and i did, too. i've played it a little, but my computer can't really handle it right now. Hubby and i are working on upgrading my computer, but that will take some time. (Not an issue when you've already paid up for life.) If nothing else, CO gets my gratitude for finally forcing Hubby to look into getting me a better system.
What little i've played (mostly on my Husband's computer) was okay. i still prefer CoH, though. Honestly, if my IRL friends were still in CoH, i'd never even check out any other games. But, i do like teaming with my friends, no matter in which games, so most likely i'll play CO on the nights (in other games it's been once a week) where we have a scheduled game night, and play CoH the rest of the time. -
i had this very same issue with the bugged heist mission on the 20th. i cleared it, checked to make sure that no one was hiding in a nook or cranny, couldn't find anything i'd missed, but the mission wouldn't complete. Finally, i decided to petition it. Tabbed out to check my mail (since sometimes you get auto-responses if there's a long queue) and by the time i'd tabbed back into the game GM_Lara was there and willing to help. She quickly and efficiently searched the map, declared it a bugged, incompletable map, and finished it for me. i was quite happy with friendliness, response time, and skill in the GM that helped me. She was there literally less than 5mins since i'd sent the petition.
That particular mission is bugged. She also filed a bug report for it, so that it can be fixed in an upcoming patch. -
There's nothing wrong with trying to get a healing badge on an AT other than a "healing" type. It's amusing to do, for one thing. For another, when you've played forever, you have to have SOME type of goal. i've done it with a blaster. So, implying someone is a n00b because they took medicine to get a healing badge is a bit short sighted.

Was working fine for me today on Pinnacle. my poor kin/elec body is covered with the bootprints of trolls running over me as i jumped down into the middle of them, thinking i might actually be able to do something..
This was BEFORE morning maintenance, FWIW. -
THANK YOU, Niviene and Avatea! Finally got to have the space i've always needed.
i, too, finally have matching forum and global names.
-
Some of us are having these issues with East Coast servers, specifically. It appears to be a connection somewhere between our ISPs and the CoH servers. It might not be your computer. If you're playing on East Coast servers, you might try a West Coast server, just to see if that "fixes" the problem.

Personally, i feel that if the account was canceled before globals even existed, so that the name doesn't have a global attached, they probably are NOT coming back, so it should be safe to purge their names. There is no customer loyalty there to protect.
If they should, some day, come back, they can take their chances just like the rest of us when it comes to picking a new name. -
i only tested the new costume parts. Meh. i'll see I16 soon™ enough.

i used to do tech support for a fertility software company. Now i'm just a mommy (again.) i miss my old job. i got to do it at home, in my panties if i wanted to, and still play CoH WHILE getting paid for my tech support job. (No, i wasn't neglecting it, i could just pause in playing to handle any new issues that came up, sorta like i do with my kids' issues.)
i want my old job back. Or one just like it. -
Quote:my Husband and i have 30 or so duos from pre-pacting days. That's not counting the ones we deleted and started over with to change them into pacted duos. The inability to pact existing duos is one thing that always peeved me.With this system going in I just hope they decide to also widen the level band for level pacting, since its impact will be lessened anyway. My wife and I have a lot of duo characters above fifth level from before pacting was announced that we would love to directly link up.
Point is moot, anyway. i'm still playing CoH, but as of tomorrow His account expires in preparation for switching to CO. *cries forlornly* -
No. It's a simple on/off toggle. It's not really an issue, though. You can always edit out the extraneous info, if necessary. i log all of my chats, on all of my characters, all the time, just in case i need to go back and check on something someone said. (When you RP a lot, you don't always remember what should have been very memorable scenes.) It doesn't really take up that much space.

Quote:i think i played the game 2mos (along with my Husband) before we discovered the "Exit" option at the top. (Back then it wasn't a neat little button.) And that was back in the days when there wasn't even an option to skip the tutorial. Doing the tutorial doesn't always actually impart info to you the same way that just playing the character does.So yeah, when someone doesn't know to use the "Exit" button to get out of the warehouse when the mission's over, they need to rerun the tutorial.
5yrs later, i'm still sorta embarrassed that the exit option had to be pointed out to us by our (then) 8yr old boy. -
i opened this thread because it looked like it was gonna be fluff and didn't look as daunting as trying to keep up with multiple threads of Rookery fluff. i guess i'll just stop looking for fluff here.
This isn't the fluff thread i thought it was.
And Rookery is still too daunting to try to tackle with a new thread started every day. -
my graphics have been like that since i came back to the game. i assumed it was because my graphics are set to minimum and didn't think anything else about it.

my old vid card used to do that all the time. It simply couldn't handle how hot it would get and would overheat (until that one day when it overheated a little bit too much... *plays taps*). So, from my personal experience, i would say overheating. But i'm not the expert some of the guys here are.
