Chat automatic logging questions

I searched the forums and did not find an answer.

I like to use the auto-logging feature to keep track of chat during SG meetings and other times. However, it seems to log just about everything; global channels, combat, even channels I never use (Arena, for instance). I know about the /copychat command but I don't always remember, and of course can't use it if I crash.

Is there anyway to set the chat to only log specific channels?

No. It's a simple on/off toggle. It's not really an issue, though. You can always edit out the extraneous info, if necessary. i log all of my chats, on all of my characters, all the time, just in case i need to go back and check on something someone said. (When you RP a lot, you don't always remember what should have been very memorable scenes.) It doesn't really take up that much space.

Is there an easy way to edit the the logs then? I'm looking for a better way to filter out the unwanted information fairly quickly. It can take a couple of hours to edit out everything I don't want. (I really don't care how many Council Marksmen I've take out that day, yet that is logged too. And Arena chat always seems to have something horrid in it.)

Before you do anything, type "/chatsavefile default.txt" (or something else you'll remember).

If you are going to have an "important" conversation that you are going to want to save, then edit your chat tabs so only the ones you are paying attention to are there, and on separate tabs. (Use "/chatsavefile conference.txt" to save this alternate preference.)

When it comes time to save, simply right click on the channels you don't want to actually save and select "clear history". Then when you save your chat, only what you want will be there. Simple do "/chatloadfile default.txt" to get your tabs back to normal.

-or-

Find a text editor that has a search and replace option that might allow you to "Delete any line that begins with..." [Arena] (for example).
