Have you ever gotten an email that wasn't spam?

I have emails back and forth from friends who aren't currently in the game, I have them dealing with group builds (as a quick reference, rather than trying to find some blasted piece of paper) and more.
As far as sending, I've sent informaiton about SGs, I've sent long, back and forth conversations with people dealing with (for instance) how to command mastermind pets, and explaining what bodyguard mode is - which end up being far too long for tells, and are of course available for later reference. Not to mention wiki links and the like.
Yes to both, but it was a long time ago
If I sent an email now, it'll probably be lost in the spam because nobody checks it anymore

No and no. It's all spam; do away with it!

But then again, I don't socialize at all, just play to have fun on teams.
No, not in more than five years. Possibly they could consider taking the email function completely out.

I have gotten about 6-8 and sent 7-10, but that has been in almost 5 years of play.
All of these e-mails were between supergroup members. A filter so that I could have gotten e-mail from sg members only would have kept all spam from my inbox.
Anyone that I'm a global friend with, I just send a tell to anyway, so I don't really need the e-mail function in order to communicate with them.
By and large, the e-mail system is worthless to me - less than worthless actually as it is an on-going pain to have to deal with the spam in order to turn of that red "you've got spam" light at the top of the chat window.

I think I did once. It was back during i3 though. There's no way I'll remember who/what about though.
How about have you ever sent one? I don't think I have.

1) Yes
2) Yes
Preemptive 3) No, they shouldn't remove the mail system and an option to disable it isn't -needed- ( Though, I'm not against adding one ). Just ignore it if you never use it anyway.

Easy now, I was just asking to see if it's still used. With globals and whatnot it seems a bit outdated. I was curious, and I'm glad some people told me what they use it for. Thanks!
I wasn't about to make a suggestion to just remove it entirely if people use it.

Emails stick around after you view them (great for the themed sgs I am in, for example, with build requirements).
Also, the game only recalls approx. your last ten offline tells.

1. I cannot say for sure, because if I DID receive an e-mail that wasn't spam it was deleted when I deleted the spam. I don't even bother to look at the sender or the subject anymore

Edited to add more useful information:
Many SGs send a welcome/introduction email to new members.
The last email I sent was late last year.
No to both questions.
I both send and receive emails on a regular basis. A lot of them are to/from an SG member who moved (to Japan) so time zones have become an issue. Also, a different SG member wanted a copy of my bio (I think for an MA arc) so I emailed that just last night.

Thanks, NC Soft, for closing my favorite game ever without warning and with plenty of life still left in it, and thus relieving me of the burden of EVER wanting to buy, try or even hear about another game from your company. Will my decision make a dent, or persuade them in anyway, shape or form? Nope, obviously not. Don't care. NC Soft is dead to me. ~ PsyFox
Yes & Yes.
Mostly to real life freinds I've intro'd to the game, or for SG related stuff.
The last email I got looked great & perhaps the longest i've ever been sent before it disappeared by mistake as i mass deleted the spam surronding it.
Now I also take the time to check them carefully. Still wonder what it was.
I don't suffer from altitis, I enjoy every minute of it.
Thank you Devs & Community people for a great game.
So sad to be ending ):
Yes to both questions in the OP, but it's been a looooooong time.

but i would be fore an option to turn it off so those that use it still can, but for those that dont an option like for ingame ads would be fine!
yes, there've been 2 legit emails show up in my inbox.
that was a LONG time ago...
There is no such thing as an "innocent bystander"
1. Yes - had someone email me login details of a Vent server. Was very handy to have the email to refer back to on a couple of occasions - would've been far more difficult to do that with a global tell.
2. Yes. Was chatting in a global channel trying to explain to someone how to set up a chat bind, but they couldn't quite get the formatting on it right, so in the end I typed it up in an email for them so they could just cut'n'paste it. Worked beautifully.
No and no; also wouldn't mind an option to disable email as all it does is fill up my ignore list.
it has gone from unconscionable to downright appalling that we have no way of measuring our characters' wetness.

We even used it to communicate with somebody inside the arena not too long ago. You can't chat directly while in there.

I'm in the No / No category as well...
The good news is that 90% of my toons don't get any mail at all - I solo primarily, and I always
have hide set (these days)...
Alas, before I learned the latter trick, a few of my toons were "visible"... They have dozens
of emails. All Spam... I won't clear them out, because, honestly, I hope it crashes the server
(the leader only has 56 mail messages or so, but hope springs eternal).
Why do I feel this way? Simple. The devs *need* to solve the spam issue, but unless something
breaks, that "wheel" won't squeak enough to warrant attention...
I, for one, can ignore the red EMAIL indicator... In the meantime, send me all the spam
you want... I won't care ... or even notice...

[/ QUOTE ] I already tried seeing if there was a cap at how many e-mails you can hold. Another thread recommended letting it just fill up so you never get any more. (Not that it would make the red letters go away or make the situation any different).. but i decided to satisfy my curiosity about the cap anyway.
I created a simple bind that sent multiple E-mail to one of my other characters (The spammers probably use a something similar).
I stopped at about 12k emails. If there is a cap, it's nothing you'd ever see even through constant excessive spamming, probably wont crash any servers.. and not worth trying to get on purpose either. lol
