Just wanted to add to the thread. My younger brother Alex used to share this account with me. He started playing about the age of 11 or 12 as well, and will be turning 19 next month in his first year of college. He's promised to create a VIP account, just to write about the impact of this game in his life. Be on the look out for our threads Soon™.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA- Ok, this just made my day. I just reread the OP and saw that the very first paragraph had accidently merged with a paragraph I deleted some time later down the line.
"...great sense of PARKING LOT."
Quote:This reminds me of a funny story! Actually, no it doesn't, I just have a funny story.I love it that you're quitting after beta-testing GR. That's just too funny for words.
Ok, so, four days ago, I noticed that there was a PM lurking in the shadows of my Inbox. And being the adventurous little girl that I am, I fetched for the fishing pole and towed line (Or whatever the heck it is you do), giggling maniacally as the little daemon grabbed the bait. We wrestled for hours before he finally fell defeated, where I then managed to saddle it and ride it ashore.
As it turns out, it was a very nicely written message about this person's adventure way back in the day when he was with the Taxibots. So, I wrote up this long response, reread it, edited it, made sure it was perfect, right? Well... Just as I hit send...
"Your browser refuses to open this page. Loser..."
I sighed lightly as I hit the 'back' button.
"Your service provider also disabled your internet. EAT IT, PUNK."
...
... CRAAAAAAAAAAP!
So, that basically brings me to explaining some of the secret reasons as to why it's time for me to go. Y'see, besides the tertiary reason that I'm a little tighter on money then I first realized (I wasn't even thinking about the internet this month), my secondary reason for leaving is moral support for a family member.
As I noted earlier, while I haven't actually played in over a year, I didn't want to leave for any small amount of time. However, I figured that it was either now or never, because my aging mother has been struggling to overcome personal addiction over the past several months (Farmville... Terminal little sucker...). She would click, and click, and click for hours with no end in sight. While you could say that there was nothing wrong with that in and of itself, she despises the game and everything it stands for... Yet she feels responsible for her nonexistent crops and animals.
So, here I am.
Quote:Farewell, Fire Lilly. You have been a beacon in the storm at many times. You will certainly be missed. -
Nope, I'm not Belle. That's is/was TonyV.
Quote:You're leaving just after GR comes out? Isn't that pre-judging it a bit?
Hahahaha!
Something like that, yes!
Edit: Edited the OP. That one paragraph didn't flow too well. -
-
Just imagine that I'm using wild arm movements and dramatic hair flipping for emphasis.
Blah blah blah, blah blah BLAH blah blah. Blah blah blah blah, blah blah blah, blah blah blah blah blah, blah blah blah-ba. Blah blah blah BLAH BLAH BLAH! *Gasp!* Blah blah blah blah blah blah blah. Blah blah blah, blah, blah blah.
P.S. You'll have to find my stuff first!
Edit: Great sense of Parking Lot? Good lord, that wasn't intentional!
--------------------------------
In all seriousness, I'm a 58 month veteran who's been with the game since just before Issue 6. When I first logged in to the game's servers, I was absolutely in shock with the deep character creation system. But that's not what hooked me. What got me was real simple.
I remember my first character when I plunged into the heart of Outbreak. I was instantly immersed, even as I stood there in that little parking place. When I first got in the game, I would wear a set of earphones, and since 3D sound was on by default, the moment I heard a Police Drone float past my character as I ran down the street, I was in awe. I instantly turned to look at it and was amazed. I hadn't even gotten to Atlas Park, and I was enamored, simply by the audio.
I remember my first Super Group. My dark/dark scrapper was level 7 or 8 when I saw a broadcast in Steel Canyon about a Super Group interview. I thought, "A Super Group INTERVIEW? They HAVE to be legit!" I was so excited, I contacted them immediately. They teleported me to the top of a sky scraper with two other Super Group candidates at varying levels. I sat there in awe as five level fifties sat before me, staring at me in their matching uniforms. It was amazing, feeling like I was before greatness. I mean, really. Screw ever meeting Justine Bieber, THIS is the moment I was living for! (Kind of sad, ain't it?)
Those Super Group leaders weren't just flashy looking, they were amazing people. All of them knew each other in real life. And all of them were so nice to me (ME, a scrap happy newbie who wasn't even a month new). During the interview, they happily dealt with my severe ADD and bad typing. I repeatedly auto-ran off the top of the sky scraper when I forgot to hit Enter/Return first, and they happily teleported me back. And when I was recruited? They walked me to Peregrin, just so I could join in their missions.
Eventually, they all went their separate ways until only I remained, but they were my first impression of the community.
I remember when City of Villains came out. I made my first villain named Proto Zone, a bots/traps mastermind on Pinnacle that I became deeply in love with. Hero side, I had alts out the wahzoo. Villain side, I only had Proto. And it was there in Nerva Archipelago, I stumbled upon a group of seriously amazing people who ushered me into the world of smack talking, NPC butt whooping, and action teaming. Even in a game called City of Villains, I was with the nicest group of players I could ever hope to meet. I would never become real life friends with these guys the way I did with those group of heroes, but I was still happy.
The time would eventually come when the group would go down their separate paths, and I do wish I could have said goodbye. I would stay as the leader of this lifeless group for two more years before I would chose to leave.
But before that, I got Proto to about level 41 before I finally convinced myself to stop and try to get my hero to level 50 first, simply because of Epic Archetypes. And that's what I did! Night Protector, my very first Dark/Dark scrapper became my first level 50 ever, well over a year after I first got the game. You can bet that I sat there drooling over my new Epic Archetypes. I had finally got it! It was my dream character!
*Record scratch*
Actually, that's not true. My mastermind still holds that spot.
*Audio continues*
But before my dream archetype, I had the Taxibots.
Taxibot Belle and her dysfunctional family of teleporting junkies became my new family. I couldn't wait to get online and take part in a badge tour. I was always the one who typed way too long of a badge text bind, and it took way too long to hand off my group of tourists to the next Taxi. Y’know those inter-dimensional train wrecks you always hear about? My fault. But the Taxis were nice and always forgave me, even with my horrible dimension shifting puns involving Harry Porter. *Cue Mission Failure text*
As I said earlier, I eventually got into roleplay. A large number of the Taxis were also in a little group called the Saint Joseph School, and I eventually enrolled for myself. Admittedly, it does have a steep rule set, but I am happy to have learned everything I did from them. Very mature group of players. If you're on Infinity, I recommend them.
But anyways, Gleaming Dawn (my PeaceBringer), became my absolute favorite character concept. Not only would he become my first role playing character, but also becoming my third 50, as well as a successful experiment. See... I made it a challenge to go from 1 - 50 on Dawn with 1.) no enhancements, 2.) no power pools, and 3.) completely solo.
It really wasn't that fun... BUT IT WAS SO WORTH IT!
Leaving the game and on to the forums, I've always been interested in Role play. I became involved in several role playing threads during my early time here (Most of which would crash and burn shortly upon my arrival), and it was evident in those threads my infatuation with alts (Had they not put a limit on how many I could bring in, I would have pushed fifteen characters). Eventually I pulled out due to time constraints and work, but not before meeting all those wonderful people in-game. To this day, I am in league with the Boarderliners, a group of mentally degenerate folk who talk about nothing on a daily basis. Nine out of ten of my personalities agree, the Boarderliners are a great group of individuals. They, along with the forums, have justified my $15 bucks a month.
Sadly, the game just isn't fun for me anymore. I haven't actually been online to play the game in roughly a year now. And where I've used to love the forums with an undying passion, it's become slow and awkward for me. Admittedly, it was bound to happen. Eventually I would grow tired of the game and be forced to leave, even for a little while.
I'll be allowing my account to lapse the day it's supposed to renew, the 25th of Augest. No one did anything wrong, I just feel that it's my time to go, even with Going Rogue around the corner. Truly, I love this game. If I didn't, I wouldn't have made the effort to type out any of this. While true, this is my third online game, it's the only one that has had a lasting impact on my life and personality.
But one last thing before I go...
None of this is to say that Going Rogue won't be awesome... Because it’s flippin’ will be! It's redonkulously amazing! Y'all are going to love it when it's released, and I'm going to buy it the moment I come back, if I come back.
I had a blast Beta testing it; y'all will have a blast playing it.
Send me some inbox messages! Message me in-game (@Sentinel IV)! Until my account hits the dust, I’m going to play the flippin' daylights out of this game before I leave. If I haven’t met you yet, I would love to. If any new players want someone to show them around, I’d love to! If anyone wants all of my cash… I’ll think about it.
Luuuuuuuuuuuumos,

Those are really just powers and not a thematic set. While I agree that it's not stalker material, I would like to have a medium ranged/defense set AT.
-
Quote:On the other hand, there are weapons that could work as a medium ranged set and still feel stalker-ish. I've always been fascinated with the idea of Chains Stalker*, and there are rumors of the infamous Spear/Bo-Staff/Scythe alternative (BABs mentioned it himself, that it would be his [removed] dream to have a two handed weapon set to play with).Because it'd break the AT as it's designed?
I'm all for a Ranged/Shields or Assault/Shields AT. In fact, I tend to suggest it whenever I get the chance.
Stalkers are not the right AT to implement that though.
Oh, and anyone suggesting a dual-pistol melee set WILL be terminated with extreme prejudice.
*Well, alright. Not a Chains Stalker. In my head, my Ninja Sword/Ninjitsu Stalker has a Chain Epic Power Pool. -
If they were to ever make a long ranged Stalker archetype like you're suggesting, it would be named 'Assassin'. Assassins use whatever they have at their disposal to eliminate the enemy, whereas Stalkers are kind of kinky. Their fetish is watching their enemy die by hand.
On that note, it would be amusing to have a medium/long ranged stalker set. -

Quote:pssssst...Fun list! Nice work on it. two quick comments though:
I thought war hulk operators are dead, or was that just the one?
Err... spoilers hidden on this page, but there's a story arc in here that point-blank indicates this is not how it works. Strongmen are not "trained" they are not recruited, and they are never "rookies" (in the usual sense). This joke works just as well with the women, since they all cover their faces too.
... Yeah, hey, you...
I know lore is your thing, but... This was a joke. -
One day, I was asking a friend to come to the SG base, back when it was the COOLEST THING EVER (Still is, actually) and I was absolutely addicted to base customization. Try to guess what's wrong with this sentence:
"Hey (Player_Name), come to the base! I have a few thongs to show you!"
ALL OVER SUPER GROUP CHAT. -
And remember, you were logging off.
They probably realized their mistake, tried to contact you, saw you were offline and thought "Oh, crap..."

We really don't need to give the moderators any particular reason to lock this thread.
No fighting. M'kay? -

Quote:You know for a fact that that's not what's being said/meant.What is sauce for the goose is sauce for the gander: I say unto thee, Adapt.
In relation to Speed Boost:
Don't like speed boost? Alright. Tell the team, "Please no Speed Boost. (Insert_reason_here)" If you're still getting Speed Boost, send a tell to the offender. If you're still getting it, politely tell the leader. If nothing happens, quit the team. Now, if you're being INTENTIONALLY bombarded, targetted specifically and you KNOW it, file a petition, write a note, one star him, ignore him, then leave the team.
The biggest issue with the above is that the problem is coming from another player, and everyone knows it. You can either ignore the issue or do what you can to not have to deal with it, which involves telling the person in question to cease casting of said power. Both are forms of adapting, but fact is, Speed Boost CAN be infuriating, I know.
In relation to Mystic Fortune:
As said already a hundred times by now, while people like Mystic Fortune, it's annoying to have to deal with the prompt. Sometimes, it's more then an annoyance where, just like Speed Boost, can lead to infuriating situations. For instance: Your character getting killed because you've become destracted/you've lost control.
People like the benefits of speed boost. The +recharge friggin' rocks. Just not everyone likes the +speed due to certain issues. Similarly, people like Mystic Fortune, but the prompt is an issue for people in the same way. I like Mystic Fortune, just not the prompt. However, unlike Speed Boost, the issue with the annoyance is the UI, not the power. Hence the request for change, an alternative to please everyone. You can't do that with Speed boost because getting rid of the +speed with tick someone off whether it was intended or not.
We'll adapt, but it's not unreasonable to speak up. We want the option to auto-accept/auto-decline for Mystic Fortune because it will ultimately please both parties. -
Quote:Actually, we were just having a little bit of fun with the nosediving topic derailment, now that the OP's question was successfully answered. This is still going?
I fully understand the importance of good grammar, but all this started over a single letter and a typo no less according to the OP. I am SO sorry I decided to call out Camper for what I felt was a little extreme.
Oh, and thanks for posting your global in your signature, Aggelakis.
I must say though, your comment against Camper wasn't extreme, just oppositional. Fact is, our comments against yours were not meant to attack you (Not in the least!), our follow-up posts were more of an attempt to summerize the intentions of the poster in question. Y'know, to clarify that nothing was meant by his post, he just saw it as an opporatunity to lend his assistance.
That LAST comment, although I'm not entirely sure what you were insinuating, was a little extreme. -

Quote:Great... Now I have to comment.FYI - You should have an additional comma after the word spelling in your sentence.
Commas help to act as a substitute for the words 'and/or,' and it's now being taught to ignore that last comma when writing a list. Otherwise he would be saying, "Proper vocabulary and spelling and and grammar..."
Might I add, the rules of grammar change every other day... Every generation is either learning a new rule, or is dealing with the absense of a rule in the ever shifting battle to find the 'perfect sentence.' -

Quote:Orly?!Maybe where you are. Not here in the U.S. Horrible entitlement factor working in this modern day here.
In my area, it's pretty much like sticking your hand in a bucket of skittles to find the right color.
Here's what I mean: In a specific area where I work, the teens are generally well behaved. Especially compared to other areas I've been in. While some might feel entitled, most of the kids are pretty self policed.
Now on the other hand, things get way more fun when you get one of those cases of self entitled, cynicle old folk. Just the other day I was waiting in line at a Sprint Customer Service and Repair Center. Some scary looking older woman walked in, wasn't even in the line for three minutes when she barged over to the back of the room and started giving the employees crap about how they weren't doing their job! They just laughed it off (When she wasn't looking).
The employees may have been short staffed, but they were doing their job and working hard with the tasks they were given.
