Ouroboros - Return to Vampyr Mountain

I have a question about this quest as offered from ouroboros. I pick the mission and the first one it gives me is "Rescue the scientists from the council". I've read the wiki page on this story arch. <-- link

What confuses me is after i complete the first mission it just gives me random ones like clear out all the zombies from the mausoleum. It doesn't go directly to "Destroy the vampyr lab" as the story arch says. Are these other missions fillers between each quest, Or am i forgetting something? I'm doing this for the warwolf temp power. I could always use some minions no matter how powerful or weak they are. I have a shivan already, but the more the merrier!

If memory serves, there is one or two of the "clear xx" missions for Council and BP in the area. It's been a while since I did that, though, so I could be thinking of another arc in there.

You are looking at the old wiki that has not been updated or supported by the players for a couple years now. If you click the CoH Logo in the upper-left hand corner of your link to go to it's home page, you'll see what I mean.

Try this link instead..
http://paragonwiki.com/wiki/Tobias_Hansen

That is the same page, but actually updated with the current arc sequence and information you are looking for.

It's recommended you don't use the old site you linked to. Besides not being largely accurate, It's apparently overrun with advertisements and "RMT gold sellers" that may try to steal your account. I wish there was a way to get it taken down or auto-link to the new site. I feel bad for anybody who does a Google search for help and ends up there.

Ah ok. Thanks i'll bookmark that site. That site sums up my concerns too. The "kill all zombies in mausoleum" was the second mission after all.

Just for the record, it is a story ARC. An ARCH is the rounded top of a stone archway.

Because it was SO very important that this be pointed out.

It's about a 3/10, but people should be informed of proper terminology. I used to have a roommate's girlfriend that complained that we corrected her on stuff, until we explained that we were correcting her so she wouldn't appear to be stupid to others.

True enough, but there is a time and a place for everything. In your example, you personally knew the person you were correcting. In Camper's case, he felt the need to come in and correct a complete stranger's grammar after their question was answered and the thread was effectively concluded. Sounds a little crass, doesn't it?

Not in the least!

I'm OCD. I LIVE off of people telling me my mistakes so I can fix 'em right away and never do 'em again. It wouldn't bother me if I was corrected, and as much as I try to refrain from doing so, I can't help but correct others. Not intentionally, either. I usually don't realize what I've done until I've hit the 'send' button!

Now on the FORUMS, I know how to hold back. In-Game? You'll either get really sick of me or find me endearing. I'm just happy to have found a community where the player base generally acts the way I do, with the sole intention of helping their fellow players with simple things like terminology.

Edit: Scratch that. If you catch a brand new post from me, a fun mini-game is to refresh every couple of seconds. The text will magically reform before your eyes.

No more crass than also off-topically calling him out on it.

I was going to ask, "You're new here, aren't you?" but then I saw your reg date and frowned a little.

Assisting others in the game's terminology (what you are calling, paraphrasing here, "crassly correcting a complete stranger's grammar") is something that is extremely common around here. In fact, it's kind of necessary so that everyone is on the same page. After all, there's DP and DP and DP, and one of those is not fit for discussion on a kid-friendly forum.

As is crassly correcting a complete stranger's grammar, but that's not what was done here: the OP used the wrong word for a game term, and someone gave them the correct game term to use in the future.

FYI - You should have an additional comma after the word spelling in your sentence.

And before anyone tries to argue, see "Oxford Comma".

I disagree. You should read up a bit on the Oxford Comma, or what is more commonly referred to as the serial comma. The use of the comma in that matter is debatable. It essentially comes down to stylistic differences between various institutions and cultures.

The use of the serial comma seems to be much more popular in American and Canadian English as opposed to British English.

Great... Now I have to comment.

Commas help to act as a substitute for the words 'and/or,' and it's now being taught to ignore that last comma when writing a list. Otherwise he would be saying, "Proper vocabulary and spelling and and grammar..."

Might I add, the rules of grammar change every other day... Every generation is either learning a new rule, or is dealing with the absense of a rule in the ever shifting battle to find the 'perfect sentence.'

Your sentence indicates an ambiguity in the reading of it without the serial comma. Spelling and grammar are not the same things.

You do realize that this is an internet forum for a superhero MMORPG, right? And you all are cruising threads looking for improper spelling, punctuation, and word usage?

I think "critical factors to success in life" and internet game forum hardly fit together.

Again, I disagree. Unless one was not familiar with the meaning of those three words to begin with, they are clearly three different terms and there is no ambiguity requiring the serial comma. This often comes down to perception issues. You apparently perceive it as ambiguous and feel the addition of an extra comma helps to clear it up, whereas I would perceive the use of an extra comma as completely extraneous and doing nothing but taking up unnecessary space.

Wikipedia does a fair job of addressing the usage of the serial comma in regards to ambiguity. Take a look at it if you haven't already read it. There is also the counter argument, that usage of the serial comma can create ambiguity where there was none to begin with.

Isn't written language wonderful?

Sure they do. I'm at work (a critical factor to success in life) AND I'm posting on an internet game forum. If that's not fitting together, I don't know what is! And I'm practicing my proper usage of the Queen's English at the same time. It's like a trifecta of success!

No.
This is a PUBLIC forum. When something is posted that is WRONG, it needs to be promptly corrected so that someone who is less knowledgeable does not come along and learn something wrong.

You forgot to leave a blank line between your paragraphs.
