  1. See, this is how out of the loop I am in regards to computer tech

I'm not going to build my own machine for a multitude of reasons that I won't go into here, but I certainly appreciate the information. I keep hearing about Cyberpower, here and elsewhere, do they have a good reputation? If so I may screw around on their website and see what I come up with. Thanks again!
  2. I'm in the market for a new computer, and I'd like some opinions on one that I've found. I haven't bought a computer in 5 years, so I'm a bit out of my element, but this one looks decent.

I'm asking here because if a computer can run City well, it'll be able to handle anything else that I throw at it Any advice is appreciated. Thanks!

There you go, something like that would work.
  4. There's a bit of conflict with the game lore in this idea. The Leviathan is sleeping under (last I checked) the length of Sharkhead Isle. If it woke up entirely, Sharkhead would no doubt be obliterated from it's movements. That would be a bit hard to reconcile.

That said, I agree that they should do more with the Leviathan. What exactly, I don't know, but probably not this.
  5. 45 months here, and for me, it's the gameplay. I have always enjoyed the classic beat-em-up type of games, Final Fight and the like. In a lot of ways, City carries the spirit of that genre, especially for the melee ATs: walk forward and sock everything that gets in your way

Sometimes I just want simple mindless combat, I'm not exactly a fan of the combos and quick-time events and other junk that have been added to games like God of War in recent years. Add in teaming with lots of great players and extensive customization, and yeah, I'll probably be punching thugs like it's 1989 until the game shuts down.
  6. The Unwelcome Touch would probably laugh heartily, tell me I'm not his type, and ask about upcoming content to get a leg up on the competition.

Most of my other characters would just devour or kill me >.> I mostly play villains...

Then level 12 came and I got "DOs" (actually level 15 IOs) and, in the case of my Electric Control Dom, unlocked the ridiculous Static Field. It didn't go quite as badly on my Brute as my Dom, but it did seem like enemies got more powerful more quickly than my characters.

In general though, pre-20 has always been frustrating for me. Constant misses, never enough endurance. The second problem will be alleviated somewhat next issue, though.
This. So very much. I find the difficulty starts to ramp up at 10, and then things go much more smoothly once I get some IOs at 12.
  8. I love how this re-occurring topic is purely an issue of semantics. Controllers control their enemies, not their pets. I'm willing to bet that if the AT was named anything else that these requests might happen a little less often. But probably not much.
  9. I'll join for the Hess, but not the Moonfire - I've run that far too many times as of late :-P Unwelcome Touch, L50 MA/WP Scrapper.
  10. I'll be there. Unwelcome Touch, L45 MA/WP Scrapper.
  11. Worth the effort of doing 11 missions and a week's wait to pick up, since you asked
  12. Title says it all, really. Does this provide any serious benefit? Putting aside the 6 minute recharge for a moment, from my experience the domination bar fills up quickly enough on it's own already. Opinions?

    Cold vs FF

My opinion is this. FF, as a set, contains hilarious, hilarious knockback. Therefore, it wins
  14. My question is, what would this do to teams? As it is Resistance members and Loyalists can team with no issues. I think it'd be more than a bit disruptive if team members could try to pick a fight at any time.
  15. I'll sign up with something or other, I'll decide then :-P

End result? Nerf. A nerf at level 1. A nerf at level 50. A nerf solo. A nerf while teamed.

I still don't disagree with the nerf, but a nerf is a nerf.

    Nerf.
Nerf is a fun word to say. Nerf. Nerf nerf nerf. That is all.
  17. Have any devs commented on this at all? Or is this argument about the difficulty just among the players?
  18. A few posts asking about that would have been preferable to the dozen spawned by what was given. But hey, feel free to discount the rest of my post, Forbin - I expect no better from you.
  19. I think it was a mistake mentioning your difficulty settings, Skarmory. That kind of derailed this thread, it seems. That said, I agree. If I want to fight mostly +1 foes, I will SET IT to +1. A mission should spawn foes mostly at the level set by the player with a number of them at higher level, not the other way around. That's how it should work, that's how it USED to work, and it bothers me that so many seem to be okay with this disparity in the difficulty system.
  20. I suggested the -tohit because, to me, Nerve Gas looks similar to Neurotoxic breath and I assumed it was to be handled the same way - With the exception of Darkest Night (which is a toggle) and Weaken (which is single target), everything you mentioned is on a far longer recharge timer than the 30 seconds Neurotoxic Breath and this (I imagine) are on.

As for Oxygenation, I'm not enough of a numbers guy to be able to give a reliable answer there, sorry
  21. This doesn't actually look like a bad set! Mechanically it's quite balanced already, It mostly needs tweaking in the numbers department.

    - One concern I have is the 45% resist to toxic that can be given to allies without stacking. Unless I'm wrong, that's more than any other set's toxic resist. Toxic is a rare damage type, certainly, but that might be a balance issue since this set could put anyone at the resist cap with little effort.

    - Amino Shot appears to be identical to Alkaloid. Alkaloid is, um, kind of weak. Not sure what could be done about that, but that jumped out at me.

    - I would remove the -tohit from Nerve Gas, possibly move it to a different power. That covers a lot of bases for one power, the only comparable power that springs to mind is Seeker Drones from Traps.

    - I'd actually UP the numbers on Oxygenation slightly, to make it more worthwhile for team members due to the debuff.

Oh, and it won't satisfy 100% of the people :-P Better watch out for that.
  22. That is correct, 2 SO's worth of accuracy is usually enough for most any situation.
  23. My buzzkill is random tells. Not every random tell mind you, but people who send tells like "team?" or "lft", since I invariably get 2 or 3 at a time. What does that MEAN? Are they asking me to join them? Are THEY looking for a team? Does it actually mean "Lugubrious Freakshow Tentacles" instead of looking for team? Sentence structure is your friend, people!

    Perma Dom.

I have to agree with QuiJon. Dominators have already been revamped once, I like to think that if they haven't changed perma-dom since then, they probably aren't going to at this point. And while perma-dom is a great boon, I get more joy out of being able to use Seismic Smash and Fissure every 6 seconds thanks to all the recharge it took to get to perma-dom

    Icy or Thorny?

I'm looking for some opinions here. After hearing some info on Electric Control (Gremlin pets YEAH!) I'm all set to roll a new dominator for GR. Granted this is rather premature since we don't know anything about the new primary yet, but I can't decide between Icy and Thorny Assault for the secondary, both look very interesting. For some context, I've already taken an Earth/Earth to 50, and none of the other sets jump out at me. So the giant question mark that is Electric Control aside, what does everyone think of these two assault sets on their own merits?
