I'd say it's time for the spankings to begin, but for you that would be just another Tuesday.
  4. I'm not a member, but the Repeat Offenders have a branch on Virtue. They're pretty much the go to guys for turning a group of defenders, controllers, and corruptors into a kill 'em all, dear-god-why-aren't-they-nerfed-yet superteam.
  5. I was sort of sitting on the fence on this one since I'd need to rearrange things at work to be able to make it. But if Detra's going to be there too...

Add one more to the guest list. I'm looking forward to meeting all of you.
  6. Praetorian Requiem likely died a long, long time ago. There's little chance we'll ever meet him.

Requiem's human half, Uzzano, is old. Like probably born before 1900 old. On Primal Earth he had already become an ordained Catholic priest, spent time researching obscure documents in the Vatican library, and left the priesthood to become at least a mid-level functionary in Mussolini's government all before 1926. Remember Uzzano also has no powers of his own. He merged with the Nictus Dirge of Entropy on Primal Earth, but there's no Praetorian counterpart to the Khelds. While it's not impossible that he's still alive in Praetoria it's incredibly unlikely, especially given how much of the planet's population has been killed. The estimated odds of someone making it past 110 in the real world are about .00000006%. It's even worse in practice since those numbers are a high end estimate (360 people). In reality there are less than 75 people confirmed to be over 110. It's got to be worse in Praetoria.

This issue is already resolved. As far as the GMs/Paragon Studios are concerned it's the Leader. There's only one person with that rank and all customer service responses are basically along the line of, "The Leader can do what they wish." The Leader is always free to loot all of the storage for personal gain, kick any character, delete the base, or even dissolve the entire group at a whim. That's why they added that category in the first place, to make it easy to handle any complaints about supergroups.

Not that I expect this suggestion to happen. Not against it really, but I don't see it happening without a complete redesign of the Base system. And I sincerely doubt Paragon Studios is ever going to do that.

This is basically true for States and Psyche as well from the perspective of any new player. Other than Who Will Die? and Silo's pseudo-TF/SF they don't appear in game.

I suppose. Still seems a little odd to me that you'd leave the guy who's essentially the main character of the story for last.

I thought Paragon Studios switched to a release date timeline with I20? Otherwise the Sutter TF is a huge problem, what with fighting a battle in an invasion that won't start until you're an Incarnate.

Thanks for the answers though. Glad to see I didn't just miss a Redname comment in all the drama related to the SSA.
  9. Was there a reason Darrin Wade was not removed from the game along with Sister Psyche and Statesman following the events of Who Will Die? The events at the end of the SSA don't leave him in a position to be handing out missions or having other people send you to talk to him any more than Statesman.

With all the attention on Psyche and States I don't remember if Paragon Studios ever commented on why he was kept unchanged. I find it hard to believe they simply forgot about him seeing as he's the only NPC involved with all seven parts of the SSA and "Who Will Die?" could have better been titled "The Rise and Fall of Darrin Wade."
  10. Masterskull's Cerebro room is probably one of the better round rooms out there. It looks rather time consuming though.

Those quotes sound an awful lot like talking about how useful the non-costume parts in the pack are. Promoting them as worth the value, if you will.

Don't like it, don't buy it.
It is a way awesome costume. It's just not $30 worth of awesome. If there was a way to buy it without spending a large amount on useless (to me) items, I would fight to be first in line to get it. It's not like I don't know why Paragon Studio isn't ever going to make it available as a stand alone. Even at double the price of a normal costume set I'd still only be paying about a third what the average person who bought it through packs paid. Just because I understand the business decision doesn't mean I can't be disappointed about being on the losing end.
    Quote:
I do like the game and the company, and if they want to sell me cool stuff I like then yes, I'm inclined to buy it.
Don't be coy. You're the ideal customer. You don't have to like it to buy it. You don't even have to know what it is that you are handing money over for in the first place.

Why this bothers you is a mystery.
It honestly doesn't. I'm genuinely happy for the people who enjoyed all the parts of the Super Packs. I'm even happy that buying things without knowing what they are has worked out for you.

Is there a reason you (not Paragon Studios) are bothered by offering the Elemental Set separately other than an, "I paid $30 for it," mindset? Just cause you're okay overpaying for junk doesn't mean I should have to be too, does it?
    Quote:
Knowing you're out there somewhere coveting it makes me enjoy it even more. =)
You're really late to that party. Go back to post #8. I've known I'd never get the Elemental set since before they even made it to Beta. I'll admit a tiny part of me wanted to see the Super Packs crash and burn upon release so that they wouldn't stick with the exclusive costume business plan, if that helps your schadenfreude any. But nothing related to the Super Packs has been particularly surprising, especially Paragon Studios retaining the Pack only method of obtaining costumes.

You're interested enough to tout them as a major feature of the packs you purchased. If you don't care about them why are you so surprised that I don't either? But at least we've found common ground now.
    Quote:
    I dunno, you're cheap and I'm not?
You've estimated several times in this thread that 25-30 is a reasonable number of packs to obtain the full costume set. That's $25-$30 for a single costume. Which, we agree, is the interesting part of these packs. That's not even remotely a reasonable price based on anything else in the store.
    Quote:
I was a premium player at the time but still like supporting the game so I dropped $$$ on whatever the biggest 'bundle' of super packs is.
Unrelated, but every time I see comments like this I wonder how much Paragon Studios would make with just a donate button.
    Quote:
That plus the handful I'd grabbed before I found out there were costume bits in there filled out the set.
So you were buying packs before you knew there was costume parts in them but you were really buying packs because you wanted the costume parts in them.
    Quote:
You're really going way off the highway here.
Can't be that far off. I think it's easier for Paragon Studios to get money out of you so they gate items I like to tempt me while throwing you a bone. Since you were apparently buying the packs before you even learned what was in them I'm probably right.
    Quote:
You're really going way off the highway here.
    ...
Again, the reason I bought 30-ish packs instead of two or three was for the costume set.
Except for the packs you were buying before you learned there was a costume in there. Presumably you had some reason for buying them other than closing your eyes and clicking randomly, so it was for the ATOs? To work on your build? Because you've denied it was for merits or inf. And there is no chance you are going to convince me it was for the inspirations.
    Quote:
Which I'm sure was the intent of having a costume set in there in the first place- well played, Paragon Studios!
At least you're taking paying $30 for a costume set well. Um, hooray?

I will log on right now and trade you 1 billion inf and 1500 reward merits for that "costume junk." I'll even toss in a random handful of ATOs just cause I like you.

Oh, wait. The part I like is gated and the parts you like aren't. That is the complaint from people like me who only want one portion of the packs. Why is only part of it locked out from being obtained outside the pack? Take a look at most of the people who agree with you about loving the packs, it's going to be people who love the parts that are trade-able/acquirable in game. Why do you win and I don't?

That's rhetorical of course. I know why. Because min/max, character build focused people would largely by those items anyway. To force people like me even consider it they have to gate items you don't want. Since it's easier to get money out of you, people like me lose. I can understand the business decision even as I loathe Paragon Studios for doing it. About the only humor I can see in this is the irony that part of the promotion for Freedom was that you would be able to get the parts of the game you wanted and didn't have to waste money on the parts you didn't.

Not really. The sale lowers the price of buying a single pack to the same cost as a single pack that's part of the 24 bundle. It's not much of a sale assuming people don't buy just one pack at a time. I'll admit it's possible, but it seems weird since bulk purchases of packs have always been more economical and this "sale" doesn't do anything to change that.
  15. Completely unsurprising. Too many people spent money on the packs solely for the costume pieces for them to even consider putting them up for sale separately. There's no way offering them now wouldn't result in a demand for refunds and a general customer service nightmare.

As someone who hasn't bought a single pack and would leap at the chance to buy the Elemental Order costume in a heartbeat I find it disappointing that it's something I'll never have. But it's a disappointment I was resigned to as soon as they started discussing the Super Packs. The vaunted advertisement of only buying the parts of the game you want hasn't been applicable in a long time. I can't really fault Paragon Studios for going where the money is, I just wish I wasn't on the losing end of their business plan.
  16. Ancillary Power Pools, also called Epic Power pools will simply become available to you at level 35. You don't need to do anything to unlock them. Next time you train you will see them by the rest of the power pools. You can only choose one of them, however you are not permanently locked into that choice. You can later respect into a new one if you wish. Any alignment may make use of them.

Patron Power Pools are only available to villains and rogues.. They work the same as Ancillary pools but you must complete an arc to initially unlock them. These arcs come from the Arachnos patrons in Grandville. Completing the first arc from any of them will unlock all the Patron pools. So you can complete Ghost Widow's missions and then select from Mako's pool if you wish. Once you have unlocked access to Patron pools you will retain them even if you later switch alignment to hero or vigilante.

There are a few Archetypes that can't use them, however as a free player you probably don't have access to those ATs anyway.

It's not much of a difference. The issue is mostly server-side, similar to the lag hill problem on the ITF. There isn't a whole lot you can do. There's too much going on when you fire off the AoEs for it to keep up. When it tries to calculate how much damage and where to apply it the game starts to get overwhelmed.

Like Roderick said sticking to single target attacks is the best solution. Although I agree that it's not a good one. The whole point of the mission is to play with flashy powers yet you can't use them without risking a crash.
  18. Probably the forum maintenance group botting it up. It's an awkward time, almost 3 am for eastern North America. So even if it was an unexpected server outage I'm not sure enough people would have noticed to mark a peak on the forums. However it was right around when the forums were having problems, and midnight on the west coast is probably a safe time for a little impromptu stress testing. And yeah, the forums are always having problems but they actually fixed that one.
  19. I just want to know what's up with Penny's eyebrows. Not only this picture but in general. She glued on the fake sideburns, presumably to get into bars with the rest of the Phalanx. Now her eyebrows are the same color as her sideburns but not her hair. Does she dye them? Did she shave them off and glue on a set to match the sideburns? Is she wearing eyebrow guards to protect her natural eyebrows?
  20. Some nice sales this week. I'm pleasantly surprised. Kudos Market team.

List of items first appearing as player suggestions before being added to the game.

Can any one person point and say, "that was my idea"? Probably not. Things get suggested all the time and frequently get repeated. Can you prove that these things weren't already on the drawing board before appearing on the forums? No. Still, that's a long list of ideas that were discussed by players before any official announcement took place.
