Why Do You Suppose This Was The Peak?

I saw this stat regarding these forums:

"Most users ever online was 30,062, 11-05-2011 at 11:52 PM."

Why do suppose that happened to be the peak day for the forums?

"How do you know you are on the side of good?" a Paragon citizen asked him. "How can we even know what is 'good'?"

"The Most High has spoken, even with His own blood," Melancton replied. "Surely we know."

Remember remember the fifth of November
Gunpowder, treason and plot.
I see no reason why gunpowder, treason
Should ever be forgot...

Unexpected downtime due to the servers crashing? That could drive a lot of folk to check out the forums on a Saturday night.

No. Freedom launched before that.

VIP Headstart was Sept. 13.

Full launch for the public (including free players) was Sept. 27.

Obligatory ParagonWiki link.

If the game spit out 20 dollar bills people would complain that they weren't sequentially numbered. If they were sequentially numbered people would complain that they weren't random enough.

It was the first weekend after the Halloween event ended. Maybe it was lots of people upset at not being able to trick-or-treat anymore.

Okay, so that's silly. But I'm going with it till someone comes up with something better.

Probably the forum maintenance group botting it up. It's an awkward time, almost 3 am for eastern North America. So even if it was an unexpected server outage I'm not sure enough people would have noticed to mark a peak on the forums. However it was right around when the forums were having problems, and midnight on the west coast is probably a safe time for a little impromptu stress testing. And yeah, the forums are always having problems but they actually fixed that one.

Possibly, but also "3am in North America" would make sense in that maybe there were that many players across all servers tha thad issues, and is the reason it wasn't higher than 30k.

Who knows? lol

Since a large fraction of the board's users are apparently guests (right now, 3223 of 3727 are not logged in), I wonder if a bunch of people ended up here from somewhere else somehow (news story in Europe leads to mass googling of some strange topic for which a CoH forum post ranks highly, or some such?). Or even just the forum bugging out and counting too many people, since it was having problems then. 30k players on the forums in the middle of the night sounds crazy, even if the servers had crashed and rolled back to 2004 - I mean, that's like 25% (?) of the game's players, I'd be surprised to see that many people logged into the game simultaneously at prime time on a new Issue release day.

Well, it was less than 2 months after Freedom launched, so maybe there was enough of a mass of people back then.

Edit:
Either this thread is going to die really quickly or it will balloon out of control.

I went and looked in the news archives to see if perhaps this happened on the heels of some big news or an SSA reveal. Nope. It is a mystery.

Perhaps it WAS Guy Fawkes and his followers...
