Discussion: IGN.com Talks with Positron
[ QUOTE ]
PvP content is something we are looking at improving in the very near future, with some new systems to support it.
[/ QUOTE ]
ooh! shiny!
Anything that gets the word out about CoH/V is good I suppose.
New PvP changes coming soon. I wonder if he's talking about more "balancing" or about PvP missions. Like say through Mission Architect?
Some information about coming Base changes would be nice though.
I wish this had showcased at least ONE new bit of I13 info.
Doom.
Yep.
This is really doom.
Well, there was nothing really new in there for people who've followed the CoX boards. Still, if it piques the interest of a few potential players enough that they give the game a try, that's a good thing.
Every time I open one of these internet PR-pieces, I secretly hope to see something like "In order to address the perceived imbalance in content between heroes and villains, we'll be adding 3 new zones to the Rogue Isles and 10 new Strike Forces in i13." I know it won't happen, but apparently I have no control over the impulse.
That business about changes coming soon to PvP is news to me anyway and I'm all excited about it. Aside from bases it's the one area of the game that most needs improvement. If they fix both bases and PvP this game might be well nigh perfect.
I wish the interview had talked about something other than the character creator. I mean the character creator is not the only diferentiator that makes CoX great. To focus on that, repeatedly, like six times, when being spoon fed the opportunity to trumpet so many other things, thats a PR bungle, no offense.
High Beam - 50 Blaster Energy/Ice - 1228 Badges
Munitions Mistress - 50 Mercs/Traps
Many Other 50's, Too Many Alts, All On Freedom
Just Because You Can, Doesn't Mean You Should!
Please let selectable Arena maps be part of the PvP systems.
Please please please please.
Questions about the game, either side? /t @Neuronia or @Neuronium, with your queries!
168760: A Death in the Gish. 3 missions, 1-14. Easy to solo.
Infinity Villains
Champion, Pinnacle, Virtue Heroes
Nice.
Could have covered a little more ground though cause, as mentioned, it focused on our creator system a bit too much.

Only if they don't screw over the PvE game to make the PvP fringe happy.

As long as "Fixing" PvP does not involve wholesale NERFAGE of PvE, as it has to date, I'm all for it.
Otherwise... the only "fix" to PvP I could support would be to break it out into a completely separate game.
"City of Heroes. April 27, 2004 - August 31, 2012. Obliterated not with a weapon of mass destruction, not by an all-powerful supervillain... but by a cold-hearted and cowardly corporate suck-up."

Seriously though all these announcements you guys been doing are worthless. We havent heard one scrap of new issue 13 info. WE ARE GETTING VERY RESTLESS HERE!!!! If you are not going to post something new then just dont post those announcements at all since it just makes the whole thing worse for us. All I can say is the new marketing strategey of stringing us along like this sucks.

how many interveiws does it take to get out the same information week after week ?
Is it fair to assume that i13 still has a ton of material that has not even been announced? The dev team went from 15 to 40+. I hope this means i13 and beyond are going to be HUGE!
While the PvP "improvements" have me really intrigued.... the rest was crap. There's no other way to put it. The Real Annoying comment was the "we've introduced new content for all lvl ranges". Sorry, but WRONG... the Villain lower levels and mid ranges have had Nothing. They really need a new Zone or 2 JUST for themselves. A 1-15 zone would be great, just to get away from Mercy and PO.
Don't get me wrong, I love the faultline and Hollows remakes.. but with 40+ people, its time to start dedicating a couple to giving red-side some choices. I'm almost to the point where I HATE making a new villain because I can't stand Mercy/PO.

Wait, altering one power (which is apparently STILL too brutal in PvE) is wholesale nerfage? Or is it that people just ignore all the PvE implications of power changes?
"the reason there are so many sarcastic pvpers is we already had a better version of pvp taken away from us to appease bad players. Back then we chuckled at how bad players came here and whined. If we knew that was the actual voice devs would listen to instead of informed, educated players we probably would have been bigger dicks back then." -ConFlict

And the game is afoot!
How many people can blame pvp for kicking their children and trying to destroy the game before monday morning! Right now we are at 3! I'm betting we hit near 20 who know absolutely nothing about pvp or how it works; but are like 99.9999999% sure that it is the cause of all the nerfs ever!
A majority of PvP nerfs don't effect PvE. If it gets nerfed in PvE as well there is a high chance that there were a few PvE reasons for it as well that you probably ignored/dismissed so that you could blame PvP and hates it forever. Please know what you are talking about.
But on a happier note! Yay PvP systems! Yay absolutely nothing else being said that we all didn't hear atleast 4 other times!
And.... [ QUOTE ]
Heroes players will find that the gameplay of Villains is a little bit more streamlined... we learned a lot when making it. In addition, the archetypes on the latter side can play very differently than their good counterparts

It is STILL not possible to convince people that travel power suppression was for PvE as much as for PvP. Everyone conveniently forgets that complicated keybind that was going around that pretty much let you ignore any and all penalties for fighting with Fly on, to say nothing of Super Speed kiting.

I don't PvP, but if these changes can get me thinking about doing so, then what the hell, why not? No "PvP change" (I use the term lightly) has ever had any unmerited reason for PvE as well.
As for the rest of the interview, it came across as more of a marketing manuever for new players... there wasn't really anything there that most forumites don't already know. But as mentioned, grabbign new players is just fine with me.

Kill 'em all. Let XP sort 'em out.
Like mnay, I dont pvp but I'm glad that more info about CoX is continuing to be placed out there for others to enjoy and hopefully turn their attention here. Great article.
I've only been playing since Dec. of last year and since then I've read the boards but just started recently posting myself. The reason I bring this up... I think I enjoy the game as much if not more as the next man but I'm concerned that as soon as some of you "vets" hear things about up and coming content you start bashing the devs for not giving you more information. From reading older threads I see that it goes beyond enjoyment and more of, "This is my game and how dare they not share more information. Don't get me wrong. I would love more info and as much as possible but some of you are not thinking realistic. LH job position as I've heard is Community Relations, but I've seen some folks tear into this guy like he's satan on a cross...
Anyway, my point is... "All good things comes to those who wait." "There's a time and a place..." Get my meaning?
If its broke, don't fix it... I like the chaos!

I know! PVE is so much more difficult now since all those crazy nerfs! It's like, almost impossible!

Feh. The only thing that makes the PvP fringe happy is an "I win" button for their favorite AT.

Please use this thread to discuss the below announcement.
City of Heroes Development Team Lead Designer Matt Positron Miller talks with IGN.com about fully merging the two titles and the current status of the game. The article covers a lot of ground, starting with some game lore and then on to reasons why those who dont play CoH or CoV might be interested to check it out. Heres a snippet:
