So, to me, this sounds like I can create my own farming mission!
Outdoor Battle Maiden mission + werewolfs = win!

I can imagine the player created missions being non-reward until they are approved in some way.
[/ QUOTE ]
Well I can see it being defaulted like normal mishes. If we are able to put our own AV's in the arc then they should reward properly. I mean an AV is an AV and the minions, LTs, Bosses already have their coding for xp + difficulty settings I am sure, so I don't see where there can be an issue with rewards.
This is just RP Gold.....
I am a customer for life, well until the server dies >.>. *whispers* it was like this since I made an account

See, here's the problem... I might be expecting too much from the up-coming mission creator... because now I want to be able to write content for my themed sg that will stretch from level 1 to 50. Granted, that's a really tall order, but come on... if you could do it, wouldn't you?
[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ]
Hmm ... I wonder if the villian groups will have to match the level. Should I be able to create a map of Skulls set at lvl 52?
... snip ...
[/ QUOTE ]
I suspect you can't do that. Many moons ago, one of the devs explained that their mobs were table driven, and could only exist at levels provided for by the table. That's why (for example) regular clockwork stop at about level 20, because the table simply doesn't go higher. There's a whole other table for psychic clocks of course.
In the same vein, there's probably no table data for skulls much above level 20 or so, therefore you can't make a mission and populate it with L52 skulls.
Just increasing the HP and damage is not enough, I also remember a redname stating that higher level mobs have more attacks. That's presumably the reason for the table, to hold all those sorts of parameters.
[/ QUOTE ]
Wohoo level 52 Voz and Tsoo! lol That would be funny.
Happy 4th birthday Co*!
The mission creation feature sounds tantalising, of course we'll have to see what the details are, but it certainly holds promise to expand the game in another new direction.

"I cant tell you how excited I am for our games future, and although we have some major announcements yet to be made, one of the things I can talk about is a feature that we are planning. Similar in concept to our character creator, it allows you, the players, to create missions and story arcs for your characters and others to participate in. Youll be able to pick the map, villain group, and objectives, as well as write the dialog and any clues needed for the missions. When you are satisfied with it, you can upload it and have other players across all servers play it and rate it. Fame will come to the players whose stories rate the best overall. It is features like these that we never dreamed of including when we first shipped, but are excited to be able to offer players very soon."

CREATE OWN MISSIONS?! Sweet!
I've had a great idea for a SG mission..basically the reward is a shiney base item that gives everyone in the SG a minor buff!
Sweet huh
perma jump is ---> /up 1
Okay, since we'll be making our own Story Arcs...does that mean that the character we create them on becomes the contact for them? That would be awesome!!!
Holy crap. For a long time I've been working on a story-driven SG idea for virtue, and I've been working on tryin to adapt the overriding storyline of the SG to work with existing missions within the game (if you ignore the current content storylines and replace them with one given to the SG by me.)
This totally allows for me to actually CREATE my own missions to fit the SG storyline. How cool will it be for an SG to form as lowbies and follow an overiding storyline for the entire SG straight through till their fifty?
Man...I hope this is schedule for issue 13. :-)
If we can do cutscenes...
"Stan and Lou: the Mission."
That is all.

SG Missions? What about exploring CoH lore? Imaging making an arc mirroring War Witch, Apex and Horus' adventures from the comics? Think of making an outdoor map that has a HUGE Battle of random Heroes and Back Alley Brawler against an army of 5th Column! Just like in the comic!
Or making your own 'Oroboros' missions like going back in time to fight in the first Rikti War and BE part of Alpha Team while Hero-1 and Omega Team hit the portal!
Heck, maybe make some missions to explore The Crash, when Recluse depowered Paragon City and its Heroes!

It is by caffeine alone that I set my mind in motion. It is by the beans of Java that thoughts acquire speed, the hands acquire shaking, the shaking becomes a warning. It is by caffeine alone that I set my mind in motion.
I just hope we have access to ALL of the heroes, bosses, villains, and elite bosses. can you imagine a mission where the hero gets to take on mako after defusing all the bombs he set in the atlas aprk sewers?
Lord Raptor lvl 50 Thugs/traps MM Le Guerrier lvl 50 Broadsword/invuln scrapper
Lola the Chain lvl 50 electric/energy brute Kage Ryu lvl 50 ninja/dark MM
Billy. Bones lvl 50 zombie/trick arrow MM Jet Stream lvl 50 Super Strength/invuln tank
I feel like such a doofus, considering I read this and then missed the part about player created content. I truly hope there is a way to clone at least the look and power-sets of our own characters (gotta a Praetorian arc in mind.)
This... has awesome written all over it.
Still here, even after all this time!

That would make this feature go to 11 if we could do cut scenes!

First, great idea, it will be awsome to write my own story arcs, XP or not.
I just want to know if this means that for Arena battles I can finally choose my own map? Will this Mission Creator allow PvP in the missions? I would love to be able to create a mission where my friends could to try to thwart me ala safeguard missions but with PvP.
And for all you naysayers out there to PvP, this is the ultimate die roll for RP.

Regarding rewards for running and creating custom content, there's already a system already in the game that I think could be very effectively adapted: Merits. Completion of customs arcs/missions could reward merits to both the creator and those running it. Those whose arcs are more popular would obviously get more, so people would be encouraged to make good arcs. The merits could be tied to rewards similar to those given in the RWZ or the winter event; temp powers, costume pieces, and badges all from a content merit store.
Missions would presumably give normal or somewhat reduced reward, and obviously custom arcs would not give the enhancement/recipe reward that those made by the devs give. Too much exploitableness there....
Shh... its a secret....

Picture someone deciding that their TA/A defender is levelling just a bit too slowly.
Now picture a mission with nothing but rooms full of minions with little or no range, each with a door too narrow to exit, but wide enough to shoot through.
Now picture Oil Slick Arrow being fired into those rooms and ignited, one after the other, over and over, while otherwise staying out of line of fire.
And at the end of the mission, an AV with no flight or leaping and minimal range at the bottom of a hole, while the defender stand up here next to the cluster of green and blue buff crystals.
I can just imagine what a PL farming team would make, if they could make their dream mission.
There's all sorts of fun things that might be possible if they give us enough lattitude, but that same lattitude will make the mission content itself highly exploitable.

Arcana, you know that none of those scenarios are likely.
a) We won't be able to reduce mobs defenses, resistances, damage, accuracy or range etc.
b) We won't be able to create broken maps like you describe
c) Nobody will waste their time making maps just to PL a TA/A defender.
we're likely going to be able to set:
tile-set and/or basic size of the map
villain group(s) and a few story-important spawns...unfortunately, I doubt we'll be allowed to create our own enemy groups, but that would be interesting
dialogue
the presence of patrols, ambushes and waves (hope and pray...need more of these)
the presence of glowies and clue text
the presence of destructible objects and whether or not you have to destroy them or guard them
the final boss (would be nice to be able to design an Elite Boss, but I think AVs should be left to the devs)
************
If we are allowed to make our enemy groups....that would be...awesome.
************
in any case, this sort of system will require a bit of overwatch to avoid issues of profanity and other such situations...likely that will be covered in the rating system.

Posi mentioned picking the map, not designing it.
What map is there already made that has a door/window-thing that NPCs can't go through?

Wow, This is going to be great. Half my characters are from another realm and the rest are connected with them in some way. Can't wait for this to be put into the game, have dozens of origins and stories to work out now.
Levels 50s...(31 and counting)
Blasters(5), Controllers(5), Defenders(1), Scrappers(9), Tankers(3),
Peacebringers(1), Brutes(2), Masterminds(2), Stalkers(1), Widows(1) &
Corruptors(1)
I'm sure it's been discussed but here's my thoughts on the player created content.
First off, woooo! I'm really stoked.
I think it will be fairly straight forward. They system in place already has elements of randomness to it. I see the design process being like this...
1) Level Range - 1-5, 5-10, 10-15, 15-20, etc.
2) Zone - Atlas Park, Hollows, Striga, Steel Canyon, etc. (Restricted by Level)
2) Map - Sewer, Office Building, Cave, City Zone, etc. (Restricted by Level)
3) Enemy Group - Skulls, Council, Knives, etc. (Restricted by Level)
4) Objectives - Glowie, Defeat All, Rescue, etc.
5) Enemy Boss - Name, Costume, AT, Power Package. (Restricted by Level)
6) Hostage - Name, Costume, AT, Power Package. (Restricted by Level)
7) Story Details and Wrap up.
And poof, press create and you're done. One thing I hope for is the ability to go back and edit missions in case you mess something up along the way.
