I'd like some more spines as well. I've always wanted to see crystal spines.

I was starting to lean towards Mastermind, thanks for the input. And you do have a point there.
I was going to try and make Greed as a Thugs/Pain Domination Mastermind, saying he was also without super powers but was street-smart, and had a posse that ran around with him stealing things and doing other malicious acts of greed.
But I think that might actually be enough to convince me, so I'll try and go make him nowThanks for the input!

I'm planning on making a villain to pair with my friend's Stalker. I always wanted to make characters based on the 7 Deadly Sins, and since Greed's taken, I'm going to try Envy (or at least variations of the word until something fits).
What his backstory's going to be is pretty simple. He's going to be one of the 7 Deadly Siblings, one born without any powers. He was also born horribly disfigured or something of the sort, so he had a difficult life. Being the embodiment of Envy, he envies everyone for their natural looks and the super beings for the powers they were gifted with (he feels he should have gotten them as well).
In actuality he does have a super power - super intelligence. Though he's not aware of it being a power, since he spent his dark, isolated life learning and reading and such. Anywho, he uses his genius to either turn himself into a cyborg, or construct a robotic suit. This is where the trouble comes in:
I can't decide which powersets/Archetypes to use. The two ATs I'm ruling out are Stalker and Dominator, Stalker already being taken by my friend and Dominator not having powers I'd like to use.
Brute - He could either have Energy Melee/Energy Aura (his suit/cyborg body is like a power generator or something), Super Strength/Invulnerability, or a combination of them.
Mastermind - If he's smart enough to make himself into a cyborg or make a powersuit, he should be able to make himself some robots, right? He could maybe have a chip in his brain that he uses to communicate to them, to give them commands instantly while he uses traps and devices he constructed himself.
Corruptor - Either Assault Rifle/Traps or Energy Assault/Traps. I'm sure y'all understand why.
I just can't decide, so I came to the creative minds of you all to aid me in this dilemma. I know the story isn't completely plausible, but it's good enough for me. I just need opinions from you guys on what's best, both theme-wise and team-wise. I'd like to choose one that would compliment a Stalker, if at all possible with these choices. -

Honestly I can't see why you'd go with anything but thugs. Seriously, nothing else says greed like stealing even from your own minions. I mean if you're going to go after a base human being psychological profile you might as well be thuggish and thick as well as painfully greedy. Someone who would attract other thugs who wouldn't mind smashing open windows and snatching purses from old ladies, if you get my drift. Someone who would steal candy from a convenience store, which always seemed a little too "low brow" for a bots mastermind, and hardly worth waking the dead over. I mean, ninjas can't be bothered with daytime jewelry store theft, they're bloody ninjas!
So until they come out with Pirate MMs, [Do you hear that devs!?] thugs would be where I would start. Low brow, stupid, drooling thug who's just greedy as his main motivation.

I might go with thugs, and probably will now. I was going to have his background being he was one of seven children who became The Seven Deadly Siblings. I was actually thinking of naming him Greed, or a variation of the word. He has minimal powers, and could be bested in a fight by a trained athlete. But being an embodiment of greed, he wants everything: Women, money, attention, knowledge, etc... So, using Bots wouldn't be too odd of a choice, since he's exceptionally smart. But I might choose to make him more thuggish to fit that, and say he stole himself some traps. I want to make him today, so I'll need to think of something first. -
I think I'm going to go with Robots/Traps. I was sort of leaning towards them in the first place, just needed a slight push :P
And I understand that you're usually the lackey for someone in missions, but in a City of Villains...what can you do? There's so many villains and villainesses running amock, you'd think the world would have been dominated/destroyed a long time ago.
I bet there's a coalition for Villains, perhaps called COVDDM (Coalition of Villain Destruction and Domination Management) who decided it best to regulate the amount of chaos you can cause, to give villains more opportunities for work, without getting rid of work for others. -
I feel like making at least 1 character based on one of the 7 Deadly Sins, and I decided to go with Greed (I was orignally wanting to maybe form a team with other people who each represented one of the sins, but the odds of those names all being available are slim, so I might implement them all in a Story Arc once Issue 14 comes out).
Being Greed, his backstory is going to be along the lines of stealing/hoarding as much wealth as he can, but then I get stumped. He could either use his wealth to hire Mercenaries to be his body guards which he uses to help him obtain more, riskier wealth, maybe he bought/stole robots, or maybe he stole some enchanted thing which let him control Zombies...you see what I mean? From a roleplay perspective, I wanted to know others opinions on which would be a better fit.
I also wanted to know about the ups and downs of each power set. If I can decide through what fits, I might as well see what's best :P -

Must've taken you a long time. I applaud your patience and creativity. I think you're going to inspire a lot of similar things. -
That shield...beautiful...I must have one...
-
I liked the video. Made me wish that we could just have shields as a costume piece instead of waiting for it to become a power, which I think would prove lame.

This is a good guide. It's kind of restrengthened my will to use my Controller, though I wasn't gonna give up on him...I'm hoping to make him my first 50.
Though I chose not to get some key powers (Clear Mind, Ressurect) for concept purposes, your guide didn't make them seem like they were necessary, so I feel more comfortable with my choice. -
Okay, since we'll be making our own Story Arcs...does that mean that the character we create them on becomes the contact for them? That would be awesome!!!
-
Can't wait for the custom mission thing.

*Shitoko walks into the mayhem very non-chalantly. After observing the fights for a couple of moments, he pops open a can of Powerthirst, gulps the whole thing down, and cracks his knuckles with a gleeful grin*
'nuff said. -
Well, I've decided to use Leon Blitzangriff. Which leads to the fact that he's German, which would make sense. He could've been a fan of Hitler. I've decided to use his first name, and a last-name alias, because he doesn't feel the need to detatch himself from his past life and family, but doesn't want to expose himself too much.

Another suggestion is... pick a side for your WWII vet. Was he fighting for the Axis or the Allies? German, Japanese, Russian, American, British, or one of the lesser known fronts? Could've been just about any European nationality, most South-East Asian nationalities... in fact, if he saw active duty, he could've been from just about any country on the planet except for... I think most South American nations, Swiss, maybe Southern Africa, and possibly a few of the Baltic states. 'WWII Vet' covers a lot of ground- it was called "World" War II for a reason, after all.
Once you've picked a nationality, a name will probably come more easily; by the sound of him, your mercenary genius would likely use his own name (or an appropriate-sounding 'normal' pseudonym), and be far too arrogant to use a nom de guerre of the sillier, super-villain-esque type.
[/ QUOTE ]
I actually was thinking of using an actual name for him, I was just hoping for some more insight, which you provided, along with most others input
I'll just have to choose a nationality now. Thanks for your help everyone! -
I've been wanting to make a Mercenary/Traps Mastermind for some time now. I've got a decent enough story for him, but I still don't have a name. His description is going to more or less be based on this:
The dude is a WWII war veteran, but is a freakin' genius. He's very adept at building almost anything, and has even built devices that have led to him having a longer life span than normal people. In his infinite knowledge, he's decided it's time for him to take the throne of the world. He's decided to start small in the Rogue Isles, with only a small band of Mercenaries as personal body guards, and he's going to work his way up, gathering more followers as he goes, until he's powerful enough to topple Recluse himself, and take his position, thereby having total control of his military force, which will give him a much greater advantage in his world domination scheme.
I've yet to come up with a good name for him, and since this seems like the part of the forum where all the creative minds come together, I thought you guys could help me out. -
...I don't know what a rickroll is, but I still like it. The saying when it showed the CoV symbol was what really stole my heart.
-
I just wanna throw this out there, but would it be possible to make the Rikti capable of destroying buildings? The Dropships, that is. I think it would strengthen everyone's will considerably if we were actually defending something.
Other than that, I'm glad the Rikti are coming back! It's nice to have a sudden change in play. -
I never really found a problem with DA. I mean sure, I've died plenty of times. But hey, that's what makes the game fun. And did you ever consider that this armor's primary use may be to handle big groups? Brutes don't always have to be built for the purpose of taking down AV's and whatnot. I've jumped into large groups of enemies plenty of times and decimated them.
And who knows? Maybe there's a buff on the way for DA. They may up their resistances, or lower endurance costs. Who knows? -
...Doesn't sound unoriginal to me...

A beautiful guide, one in which I shall use to it's full potential. But first, I've a few questions to ask and a request:
1) You used the term "perma" multiple times in your guide. I assume it means "permanent", but because of that I was confused when reading about Caltrops. Your description says it isn't that great, but you also said it's perma right out the box. Does this mean it's a must-have?
2) I understand what you meant by respecificating Gambler's Cut out of the build once your a decently high level, but what about Flashing Steel and Sting of the Wasp? They didn't sound too great in your opinion-and though I know it's JUST an opinion, still-so should we keep them as basic attacks?
Lastly is my request. Seeing as I'm going to be following this guide very closely, I wanted to know if I could get the name of your Ninja Blade/Ninjutsu Stalker. It only seems fair that I include the name of my instructor in my characters description. -
Hey, are there any CoH/CoV books out there? I'm a fan of fiction books, but I'm tired of reading the medieval dragon books. I know there are comics for the games out there, but are there any actual novels?
