Time to see what happens when 3D meets comics...

[/ QUOTE ]

I think Doug should be banninated from the contest. His stuff is too good.

[/ QUOTE ]

LOL, thanks =)

If I'm asked to gracefully bow out, I will with no hard feelings. My professional background could easily disqualify me as a 'fan artist'... even though I love COH.

[/ QUOTE ]

Naturally I was joking, but it sounds like you need to use screenshots with minimal touchups. (At least that's how I interpreted it.) It gives people like me, who have trouble drawing stick figures, a shot.

I had a couple of great ideas come to me today, and I'm actually giddy about this. Just need to storyboard it and the time to get the screenshots together.

Arc# 92382 -- "The S.P.I.D.E.R. and the Tyrant" -- Ninjas! Robots! Praetorians! It's totally epic! Play it now!

Arc # 316340 -- "Husk" -- Azuria loses something, a young woman harbors a dark secret, and the fate of the world is in your hands.

I don't know if this will work but...you could try copying the comic over to Microsoft Word and use the AutoShape tool, though I'm not 100% sure if it will work.
It's best that you test this before making the comic though...

The installation screen has several choices of extra packages. The word balloons and stuff are in the "Fun Pack #1 Content Pack". You have to install the content pack in addition to the main Comic Book Creator software.

If you've installed the content pack, then make sure that when you initialize a new comic book, that you choose Content Pack #1 as your content pack. If you choose the basic pack, you'll end up with the bare minimum content.

Okay, question:

Do we HAVE to use Comic Creator?

I'd rather just edit and make panels in Photoshop. Plus, people seem to be having trouble with getting the program to DL/work anyway.

Any copyrighted heroes and/or trademarked names will be automatically disqualified!

[/ QUOTE ]

This is tripping me up a bit.

You'd be surprised how many of our character names are trademarked as vacuum cleaners or whirlpools or sedans. Is my character a no-go if he shares a name with the honda in my driveway?

Thanks, that one worked for me.

Now if only I knew why the "publish" option didn't... Grr....

[/ QUOTE ]

You have to buy a license code to activate the publish option.

However, you CAN publish to Hypercomics, which is all that's required for the contest.

Another contest I can't enter. Oh well. Stupid internet law.

...You named your Hero Civic?

And aren't all our characters copyrighted by NCSoft the moment we make them anyway?

[edit] late, was in response to something on the 2nd page, sorry =O_o=

My big question is by "8 pages" do you mean a cover and 7 pages of content or an 8 pages of content which would make the book technicly 9 pages.

Inquireing minds gots ta know.

The link we have for the specific Comic Book Creator version (that has logos in the pack) can be had at http://coblitz.codeen.org:3125/d2.pl...rd_1215_en.exe

[/ QUOTE ]

This is a huge problem.

This was not made anywhere near clear.

I just went to the site and DLd what I found, no CoH/V related imagery or logos at all.

What to do?

if you install the "Fun pack #1" after you download the link you got the stuff.
mycomputer ---> C drive --> program files ---> planetwide games ---> comic book creator ---> content packs

Then you'll see "basic" and then "fun pack #1" or some such.
Then if you look in the "clipart" folder you'll find some generic superhero clipart. I think THATS what he is talking about.

But nothing CoH exclusive. I'm thinking that ain't made the deal yet.

Oh, ok. See I did install that.

The contest simply seemed to imply there would be CoH/V related artwork available, logos, etc.

EDIT: Could always take from the fansite kit

It says in the rules that you can have a cover in addition to 8 pages of actual comic, for a total of 9 submitted pages.

Which I do not want to do. I have this weird objection to posting my creative works on other sites like that. I'm not sure if I'm being paranoid or what, but I just don't feel comfortable doing that...

Yay! A contest!
Oh, I've got a great idea!
Wait, what's this?

[ QUOTE ]

Is there any way for a non-US to participate? Even if it's just to earn an honorable mention?

I am ALL OVER this contest.

Been wanting to do a screenshot comic for a while now, and just needed an excuse to try my hand at it.

This is going to be vast amounts of fun. I love writing comics.
