I don't have the plug-ins so I can't view my own comic on the web page, it's kinda funny. Anyone elce have that problem?

Anyway here's the link where I think the comic is posted could someone just conferm for me that the comic is viewable before I send it off to the contest entry. http://www.hypercomics.com/comicbook...ral_shark_2944

Note: I don't actully think I'll win with that but it was fun to make despite the debt I got myself in and I never even tried to enter one of these contests before so I thought I might get lucky.

It works, however, I can't see the whole pages, there are parts of it that are cut off.

[/ QUOTE ] There should be scroll bars on the side and bottom of the thing. (at least that's how it looked when I was making it) other than that I have no idea how I'd even begine to fix that.

[/ QUOTE ]

Well, there is no way for me to see the other parts of the pages, I haven't downloaded the comic book creator yet, so I don't know how you would fix that, maybe someone who know how to will come along. If they don't I'll most likely be downloading the creator this weekend so I may be able to find out what is wrong

Ok, Im having a huge problem. When I saved my comic last night i had 7 pages of pictures and text. This morning, i opened the file and the pictures were there, the chat bubbles were there but the text was gone. On top of that, if i type new text it will not show up. Anyone else with the same problem or any suggestions to recover my text?

I have my little comic half way done now, and i want to put it up on photobucket to show my friends. However, i don't know how to change the file type. Apparently you have to click "publish" in the file menu to convert the file type, but that button is greyed out for me. When i click "publish to hypercomics" it gives me an error dialogue saying that "Publishing to Hypercomis requires PDF Writer and Ghostscript to be installed. Please run hypercomics set up to install these programs."

Before i do this, i want to know:

1.) if these programs are 'safe'
2.) will this allow me to convert the files/pages of the comic to jpeg and other image formats?

Thanks
_D

P.S.: I cannot print, either. That button is greyed out and when i use the shortcut (ctrl+p) nothing happens. My printer doesn't even flinch. Is this related to the above problem?

Well one way you could get it on photobucket is by taking screenshots of the pages and then posting them on Photobucket.

Yes, but i don't know how to resize the images, and they don't fit on the screen at once.

i have the publish options available, but it wont let me publish, same as it didnt for Davenport. but these other files or programs arent in the package. i opened and installed everything that was available and, while mine is primative compared to some of the others ive seen, it is mine and id like to post. so...any ideas on where these programs are or how i can convert a .cbcx file to a .pdf file without a convertor?

[edit] nvm...iom a gimp...its the last install option on the main program flash screen for installing the program.

/em colors himself a deep shade of Stipud.

Nice, Dark1, veddy nice =) Though your text was kinda scrambled and compressed badly. Did you make it that way or did that happen post-production when you uploaded it?

Oh, and I don't think this was answered: Do we HAVE to use the comic software? I'd reaaallly rather just use Photoshop =/

Oh, and Crimson demands you play this arc-> Twisted Knives (MA Arc #397769)

How many comics can we submit? Just one, or as many as we can crank out?

Posted

From the contest rules page:
All entries must be received via e-mail prior to 11:59pm (CDT), Monday, April 27, 2007 (the “Contest Conclusion”) and must be in English. No other methods of entry will be accepted. Limit: one entry per person.
There ya go

The contest rules say that you may only submit up to 4 attachments in the email submission. So if you choose to go the .jpg route, and you do an 8 page comic, are you supposed to put 2 pages per .jpg? Also, the software doesn't allow you to publish to .pdf files, or save as .jpg files. So you gotta do kind of do some photoshopping if ya want to go the .jpg route. The only option I have is the publish to Hypercomics thing. Have we figured out why this is?

Posted

The reason you can only pulish to hypercomics is that you don't have the full version, or at least that is what I've been told.

Posted

And let me guess the full version would actully cost money? I'm not going to pay for the full version. Yeah sure I had fun with this comic but I'm more intrested in making movies (which I still havn't done yet) and so I'll be unistalling the comic creator program as soon as the contest has ended.

The bigger problem with this contest and the timing of it is that currently Comic Book Creator is not compatible with Vista and they are saying another month or two until it will be.

Thats just god punishing you for using a sucky OS.

I'm having a hard time here... When I save my completed comic in .pdf or .jpg format, it can't be displayed. Also, I can't publish it to the comic creator website. Even though it won't display, is it safe to say when I email the saved .pdf to the contest email that it will be ok? Please advise...

Must we flame this board??? Cant we just have a good time sharing ideas and things?

TSG, what error are you coming up with, if any? i had a problem publishing to the site but that was because i neglected to add'l install the pdf writer, which is apparently necessary to have it converted to the proper format for web publishing.

Posted

do I have to uninstall and reinstall the whole program?

Posted

you shouldnt have to. all i did was activate the initial install program which gives you the option to install the main program, the basic add on pak, and then down at the bottom in smaller letters the pdf writer program. shouldnt have to go through everything from scratch. i didnt.

Farmer_Frost, where was the URL of that post you reference. The information on our rules pages is correct for the contest. I couldn't find what you refer to above.

Can we create power effects on the image? My character doesn't have a certain power that I want them to use during the comic book action. Can I add it to the image by myslef?
The reason I'm asking is because it won't be like in COH.
And also can I come up with powersfor the characters?
