awesome idea! but i think there should be another choice, whether you shoot it out of your arms or eyes. my primary is radioactive and i love X-ray but it's not that great, so i think you should choose how it shoots.

i'm still hopeful for something to happen with this.. and still wouldn't be surprised if it was a slow-cooker. At least i hope so!

this is a REALLY [censored] good idea!!! Wouldnt it be neat if they did it in time to get it into the next issue or even GR!! if I dont see this soon..ill copy/paste/link this suggestion into Champs online forums and any other MMO hero based game! what a concept!

It is a great idea, and would also add something else to players leveling up, and stop them rolling new charecters so fast at 50.

Perhaps it could be something 50s only could work on though? as to add more content to the game at the end?

It could be linked with a TF to start it at 50 like 'learning your own style' sort of concept so you arent just a carbon copy of every other charecter with the same powers.

To me the more customisation we get the better and this is definately one of the best ideas ive seen here for a long while.

If you need proof systems like this work, take a look at Star Wars Galaxies before SOE destroyed it with NGE, they had a very similar system where you picked your powers in tree formats as you leveled, the more points you spent on it the better powers you unlocked. This would basically be a better version of that since you can change animations and stuff too.

It would take a hell of a lot of effort to balance though I think, I can see it been easily exploitable particularly with the poor amount of testing that seems to be done here by developers before it hits live. I really can see stalkers modifying AS or Sharks already to a long animation time but one hit killing people.

Interuption time doesnt really matter to them since there hidden anyway, that would be a big factor that would need balancing out.

I came to this thread rather late, but....Is is just me, or does this seem like the direction they may end up going with Incarnates?

I just saw this post and thought it was a fantastic idea! It would definitely shift focus from "number-crunching" to actual "fun" - I really LOVE it

I like the idea of it's recharge being long but at the same time what if a Dual Pistoleer wants their signature power to be just as effective as Pistol (The First DP ability) but to have a reallllly cool animation; I think maybe allowing you to use previous powers as basic templates could help there.

I believe Incarnates will be the embodyment of this idea. I've supported it from the day I read it. We'll just have to see. But if it is indeed the case, congrats in advance, Ultimus.

Hello again Ultimus! Good to see this thread is still (somewhat) active.

I finally found the info on Incarnates so that i could understand what it is all about... and it isn't your idea fleshed out at all. From what i read, it seems like they're just slots for global enhancements. So, say an Incarnate Boost to reduce the endurance drain of all powers, or more damage across the board, etc.. Which, if that's correct, is cool and all, but seems a bit lacklustre as an immortal power.

So, here i am, still hoping that SigPows make it into the game some day. It would definitely fit into the Incarnate system idea, thematically... so maybe they could tack it in there (Incarnate lvl 11?) later on.

Although, i'd rather see people be able to play with it earlier on (lvl 40 or so?)... like the power is building over time, so they could start of with a weaker, less robust power, but as they level up to 50 and on through Incarnate levels, they could continue to increase the effects of their Signature Power.

What better way for the devs to be able to say "You think your game has character customization? Pffft!" than something like this? (Besides being able to create your Arch Nemesis, but hey... >.>)

We have power customisation, we have incarnates on the way, and i20 is implementing 'several new systems'. Anyone else feel this is a suggestion whose time has (finally) come?

Its about time, I think. Statesman, Sister Psyche, and other NPCs have had signature powers since as far back as I can remember. Players should have some kind of signature power access, too.
