We seem to be getting more customization now too with the mission customizer. It'd be nice if this comes down the road soon

I completely support your idea! Though, along with the damaging, the healing, the buffing/debuffing, we also have summoning powers! A pet SigPow would have to have extreme recharge times IMO and pets that eventually die; like Phantom Army/Dark Servant. You could have 1-3 pets. Singular pets would have a wider selection of powers, duo pets would get a smaller pool, and 3 would have few to choose from. The attacks are already made, you'd get to pick them from pools much like the Epic Powers. As for looks, you should be able to pick your pet's mesh and tinker around with the texture/patterns/etc. Depending on the number of pets you have chosen, you'll get to pick from small samplings of each powerset to make up the pet's arsenal.
The pets would start out rather generic and clumsy, but as you add points you'd be able to change their attributes.
It might be a tiny-widdle-itsy-bitsy easier because Devs wouldn't have to recreate the visual effects of the powers.
Anywho, that's my idea.

I had similar ideas for a customizable Signature Power although I'd have it come somewhere between levels 40-50.

It would have it's own slots as you levelled starting with one and having six by level 50. It also would not count against your existing powers it would be an "Auto-power" similar to a Kheld's Flight or TP abilities.

The idea was each AT would be limited to an attack type consistant with the AT in general. Melee-types get PbAOEs, Ranged-types get Targeted ATs, with some ATs getting an option of either or. I suppose and option for having a single target attack could work so long as it's more powerful than an AoE one.

Then select the type of damage dealt probably giving a bonus based on whether or not the Signature move has anything in common with your characters powersets.

Since it is a signature move it would also have secondary effect such as various kinds of Mezzes some more powerful than others.

Then it would be a matter of picking animation and power color. The more choices available the greater the variety of the moves created.

VEATs and HEATs: They would be eligilble for Signature powers also but probably be more limited in terms of power FX.

There would be TOO many "Signature Powers" and YOU will have to make them and chances are someone will like yours and STEAL it and the an entire group(s) will have yours. AND there would SO many it wouldn't really BE a SIGNATURE...!..................................... ...............................................!

Lord_Bubbles.. umm.. same thing can happen with any powerset/character idea. if other people see a SigPow and want to copy-cat it, that's their choice to ignore creativity and try to emulate someone else.. in other words, no biggie.

(then again, how would they know every detail of what made that SigPow? they would have to pay attention to the animation(s), effect(s), power(s) used and any residual effect(s). good luck to anyone doing it.. seems like more effort to copy-cat someone then to just come up with your own)

basically, it wouldn't bother me.. and i don't think it would be as rampant as you are imagining.

Issue 14 has its hands full mastering the mission architecture now from what i heard, and 15 is to far off and not a single dev has posted here about this idea I think.

But ya, having signature powers would be a cool asset to a superhero. I'm only afraid with all the content they will do something odd like raise the lvl cap to 60 or something to compensate.

Good point.. plus, if threw both at us at the same time.. we wouldn't ever get to actually playing the game! lol..

They mentioned I15 tying up some loose ends and opening new ones.. i could see SigPows possibly making sense somewhere in there.

just as long as we eventually get this, i'll be happy.

what worries me about custom powers with custom effects is players ruining the game with them.

Making spider webs that heal the team..for some reason, and flaming explosions that hold foes in place...cof*

a guy named YelloSNO1132 who fires yellow ice blasts.

That isn't to say it couldn't be done right but total customization I'm against.

My god this is getting long... but I still think there would be too many and yes, the copy-cat case. Although I'm beginning to loosen up upon the idea and it would be cool to take the powers you have to create it, like a "drag&drop" method then you could preview before saying OK???
Or that's another way to do it

It really needs to be minor, even many cosmetic changes are too much, because of how everything is set up now with typed damage and all.
a power's effect dictates what type of damage it does currently.

how about Ice blasts doing energy damage or fire blasts doing psi? ugh.

I'll be hit in pvp with a Net Arrow that does dark energy damage.

I read:
H3R0Z deals 300 dark energy dammage from his JUE JUS GOT PUNKEDLOLLOLOLO!! attack.

I can see, maybe, tinting the color of some attacks, a little. maybe choosing from a few different animations (provided animation times are the same) even naming an attack, might be okay. but even then, things could get ugly.

all in all, I'm not sure if it is worth it.

Just a small point here.. while color customization would be cool for many different features, the Signature Power does not presume this would be part of the creation process.

It's simply mix-n-matching different anims, powers, etc., which i agree could easily make for nonsensical combinations. Maybe it could be limited to certain effects can only have certain types of damage/powers, or better yet.. certain effects could *not* use certain types of damage/powers. but, even without that stipulation, i wold still support this idea. (not really bothered by the idea of someone using a weird power once in a fight.. maybe they were effected in a way that made their power work odd, who knows..)

Make it so it can not be used in PVP tweak/balance it and call it a day... Sounds cool on paper good sir the Bearded nation salutes you. haha

Yeah, just make it a permanent temp power like Throwing Knives or the like. You can't use it in PvP.

Or maybe an actual temp power that you have to charge up with infamy for yet another time sink.

Sooo like an epic meter?

You deal enough damage or take enough or affect enough people with your powers after a certain amount? And you can only use the power every hour or so would seem fair. The epic meter sounds good to me, we could make it an insane amount say like this...

Blasters: 1000 damage dealt per level.
Tankers: 1000 damage resisted/deflected per level.
Defenders: 500 uses of powers per level.
Controllers: Immobilize, hold, confuse, disorient, sleep, or slow villains for 1 hour combined per level.
Scrappers: 1500 damage dealt and taken/deflected per level.
Kheldians: Epic meter fills after 10 successful missions in a row.

Deflecting/dodging = 50 points per level.
lvl 1: 50
lvl 2: 100
lvl 25: 1250
lvl 50: 2500

This is just a rough sketch of what I had in mind when I heard about some bar or meter involved. I don't know how well this will work but feedback on this idea will be appreciated.

How about this: You pick the damage type at creation...with the exception of psionic. If you want to get Psionic damage, you SACRIFICE two unspent points (So the power is treated as if it had THREE points in the "Damage" catagory, but only does damage as if it had ONE point, but the damage is now psionic.)

It does need to be limited graphics-wise, but if we could choose from differnet power animations already in game that'd be great! More like taking different powers and choosing different effects and graphics from them.

This would also be a great addition to the upcoming Issue 14: Architect, which would allow players to create story arcs leading up to their unlocking of their signature ability, or giving the Archvillains a special sig power!

Same by my setting too, and I started this a little over two years ago... my has time flown by. I cannot believe this game is nearly 5 years old
