Decimate: A Roman punishment for cowardice in the legions. Every tenth man in the unit of the man who showed cowardice was killed.
Thus, Decimate means "To reduce by 1/10th" - I'm pretty sure that I'd want to do far more than THAT to my enemies, titan weapons or not!
The word the writer is seeking for is "Devastate" - I blame the hordes of uneducated news reporters who have confused the two for decades... -
Quote:It's been more than 2 months on the tokens though...I should have gotten at least one...or has nobody at all gotten any tokens yet?Reward tokens come at the end of the month. Everybody gets them at the same time. Points on the other hand, just be patient.
Patience is one thing, but they're ending the item I want for an entire year, TODAY. -
OK, last month I got my store points on the 13th, so I counted on that information, and planned to purchase the halloween costume set when I got my points this month...but the 13th came and went, and no points.
Now it's the last day the costume set is being sold and (of course) the game is down. When I log on after work today, those points had BETTER be there or I'm gonna be really pissed.
Also, aren't we supposed to get a reward token each month? I had 39 tokens when i21 went live and I STILL have 39 tokens...I didn't get a token when I got my store points last month. -
I remember way back when we would occasionally have an "invasion" event, for example I recall a fairly successful "Kobold" invasion on one server, where everyone was encouraged to make a short lizardoid character all at the same time.
For this Haloween, how about as many people as possible on Exaulted make an Oompa Loompa character, as a lead in to the trick or treat event? The only criterion would be having orange skin, Green hair, and (usually) being short, so existing characters could save a costume out and temporarily make an Oompa costume.
"Come, my diminutive orange-faced Green-haired bretheren! Throw off the chains of the Chocolate maker and invade the server, spreading Chocolatey Goodness (Or chocolatey evil) throughout the land in preparation for the Trick or Treating!"
Just a weird idea I had while watching the Developers preparing to shave Posi's beard and chatting about snacks in Help while it was going on... -
popmenu appears to have been disabled recently...I can't get them to work anymore. Or at least new ones, which is strange...is there a limit to how many MNU files the game will read at startup?
-
Already spotted a bug with the new login engine, even with the servers still down. The server selector cannot scroll down to the last two servers...it pops back up before you can click on the VIP server or the other server (In my case, Freedom) below the initially visible list.
-
I didn't have this problem with the NCSoft Launcher, but today I started having a new one...the Launcher won't come up when I try to start it after the first time I minimize it...once it gets into this "mode", the only way to get it to come back up is to pull up the Task Manager, kill the process, and start it up. It only started doing this today.

OK...did a couple of reworkings to check things out...here's my first attempt:
// POPMENU File for Performance of "Domo Arigato Mister Roboto" by Styx.

Now it becomes interesting. Once again, the ones that work are the ones numbered with the same numbers as the top level menus. Since I only used numbers for hotkeys, it makes it more obvious than it would be with letters or some other hotkeys that it appears the number of items in the top level is the limiting factor. Could it be that simple? let's find out:

Voila...this version works completely, even if you do have some annoying dummy menus. But is it really just how many lines there are in the top menu? So far that is the evidence...this would explain why it was so confusing early on...the first version had only 16 active submenu items, while this one has 47.
I must have misremembered having item 5 work before...but this gives us some insight into what we have to do to make more complicated popmenus function, at least for now. -
Quote:Yes, however your implication that this is what is causing some of them not to work is flawed...the ones that aren't working are the ones that are the ones that are being assigned LESS than the ones that ARE working (1-4 are being used 5 times, 5-9 are only being used 4 times, and it's 6-9 that don't work in the submenus (and sometimes 5 isn't working either))Have you considered the fact that you are assigning the same keys up to 5 times?
So yah, been there, thought that...thanks for assuming I didn't do any testing at all. -
-
You've seen those masterminds who like to set up fancy performance routines for their pets...well here's a way to do that with Popmenu...the only problem is, for some reason I'm unable to determine, the submenu hotkeys don't work beyond a certain number (sometimes it's 4, sometimes it's 5...it's a very bizzarre glitch) so after they stop working you have to click subsequent lines in that verse with your mouse.
// POPMENU File for Performance of "Domo Arigato Mister Roboto" by Styx.
//
//To customize the performance, change the petsay_all commands to the petsay_power or petsay_name to the types and/or names of your pets.
//
// I usually bind the initial menu to a keyboard key (v, for example) so I don't have to keep moving the mouse around to click on a slot to open the initial menu.
// Submenu hotkeys are broken...numbers above a certain point don't work, and it seems kinda random.
//If you don't have the cyborg pack, change RobotDance to just Dance or use whatever dance emote you prefer.

Sorry, my Veteran Player instinct kicked in...whenever anyone complains that they can't use Teleport very well, I feel compelled to post the simple elegant solution afforded by the /bind command to bind it directly to a modified mouseclick...
-
Quote:You're doing it wrong. Try this:Weird - I find the CoH teleport very hard to use for some reason, where the CO one just seemed intuitive and was my fav travel power.
/bind alt+lbutton Powexec_name Teleport
then just hold down the alt button and click.
The DEFINITION of teleport is to move from one point to another WITHOUT crossing the intervening space. CO "teleport" would be fine if they had called it "Phase Shifting" - Teleport it ain't. -
Got a new computer, and can't make a shortcut for the training room, because there is no "Target" field to append " /LaunchGame=CohTest" to.
OK...I tricked it into creating a secondary shortcut (wonder why the first one had no target field?) but it says I need to make a separate test account? when did this change? (I've been offline a while and coming back...I was always able to get on the test server before...why the change?) -
Quote:Ewww...Summon not the Game That Must Not be Named!Hmmm... I wonder if Champions Online has better communication with their customers..
Things that suck about CO:
1) Made by the same development team (supposedly) but inferior.
2) False advertising on the "Teleport" power...how could the same team have done teleport RIGHT in COX, but gotten it so terribly, horribly WRONG in CO?
3) Only 5 outdoor zones? Really? Sure they're about 1.5 times as big as the average COX zone, but with only one server, there are always massive numbers of instances of every outdoor zone, and no mechanism to automatically make teammates exiting an instance wind up in the same instance of the outdoor zone.
4) For a game based on the single most customizable RPG, the power customization is pathetic. Done by items only? and only sword powersets have significant numbers of those equipment based powerups? BLECH!
All in all, CO is an incredibly dissapointing waste of effort. If they'd spent that effort creating a game that was an ACTUAL implementation of the Champions Hero system, it might have been worth playing. -
Maybe someone found the unlock for the hidden "Portal Gun" travel power?
-
I have no problem coming up with interesting character backgrounds...My main villain, for example, (Botman), is one of the small clockworks that accidentally had an AI module from one of the prince-level models installed, and then fell into a vat of irradiated Tapioca pudding, somehow gaining freedom from the Clockwork King.
"They laughed when I said I could create an unstoppable army of robots powered by Tapioca pudding, but I'll show them! I'll show them all! BWAHAHAHA!" -
The usual explaination for using Guns in the comics is, Heroes have special "Mercy bullets" or rubber bullets that don't cause permanent harm. The Punisher has occasionally used those.
Water's a very tough effect to render realistically, particularly in real time. What I'd like to know is, when are they going to implement underwater environments so we can play "Aquaman" type characters? -
Don't tell the stormie he can't use Hurricane or steamy mist...and then whine when his single target heal is insufficient to keep your whiny butt off the floor because he can't use his best debuffs on the enemy.

Why do Kins SB people just as they start running? People overshoot their mark. If they have hurdle instead of sprint and no combat jump it just gets silly. I'd SB people inside a fight duration, not moving towards mobs or holes in a cave floor.
[/ QUOTE ]
Want the honest answer?
Because it's funny as hell watching you shoot off the cliff like a cat with it's tail on fire on the ITF.
Seriously. Comedy gold. almost as funny as watching you hit the doorframe 16 times, and funnier than watching you get stuck in the ceiling in a cave mission when you are bunny-hopping your way around and get IR'd
[/ QUOTE ]
omg I almost died laughing at this.. good thing I work at a hospital.
on topic: I have had that happen to me a lot, good friend plays the kin, I am the rad. if I over shoot because of that .. hope I dont drag 1 or more mobs back with me when I come to help with the mob I shot past. (If I die for your enjoyment I will also see about passing on the fun).
[/ QUOTE ]
It is also funny to TP someone while they are traveling and dont have thier TP prompt on.
What not to do in CoX? Dont forget to turn your TP prompt on.
[/ QUOTE ]
I have an even more fun thing to do...when some clown spends all his time AFK, sucking up XP with no contribution, they're just ASKING to be transported into the middle of a bunch of mobs. And then kicked from team.
And yes, it CAN be done, even with his teleport prompt on. -
Just because an item once sold for 10,000,000 inf in the auction house, that doesn't mean that it's likely to ever do so again, particularly if it's a common item, like a General inv-origin recipie, which can be purchased at any invention table for a stock price.
True example: Level 20 Endurance modification. Invention table price: About 13,000. Putting them on the auction block for MORE than that is basically just a waste of your posting price. The likelyhood of running across a ninny who is willing to shell out 500,000 for one isn't worth the time it would take. -
[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ]
Here's another: If someone is spawning TOT mobs and training the ones he doesn't need to the hospital drones, either get out of the way or fight em...DON'T whine to the TOT-er about it. With the "one ghost per 50 door spawns" rate, there are a LOT of people dumping mobs on drones to speed things up. They've probably been at it for like 6 hours straight, and may decide that you want BIGGER spawns trained directly on YOU, instead of the drones.
TOT-ing for Ghosts does strange things to peoples' brains. Don't push it.
[/ QUOTE ]
If a 50 is trailing 50-53 mobs through the low end of PI then that person is being a jerk--especially if they don't have a taunt (or similar) to hold the aggro. Ghost hunting is no excuse for griefing people 8 levels lower than you.
I was minding my own business, ToTing on my 43 scrapper when I got zapped by a 50-something witch. Some numnutz was trailing monsters and was not able to hold the aggro. Maybe he was "ghost hunting" and maybe he was just purposefully griefing; it looked the same to me either way.
If someone threatened to train mobs on another player, that is definitely griefing and should be reported.

I am, of course, referring to people around the same level. The specific situation was, I was training mobs from the doors directly in front of the Sharkhead hospital to the four drones in front of the hospital.
I was at the LOW end of Sharkhead level range (22) and the whiner was 21. I was set on the lowest difficulty setting, so even if they took a potshot or two at him on their way to the drones, there's no reason he couldnt get out of their way in the short stretch between the hospital and the doors.
And No, I didn't threaten to deliberately lead any mobs to him, nor did I do so without threatening, nor was I deliberately training to hit him in the first place. And I had, as I said, been doing the same thing for HOURS...All I wanted by that point was to get the gratting ghosts and move on, so I was repeating the following: Click door. Fly up above roof (only the ghosts can fly, so if there was a ghost it would follow me up there) If there was a ghost, I'd root it there and fly to the drones to dump the rest of the mobs....if there was no ghost, I'd just fly to the drones.
Did he offer to team up with me for TOT? No.
Did he just go wherever he wanted and TOT for himself? No.
All he did was insult me and log off. -
Here's another: If someone is spawning TOT mobs and training the ones he doesn't need to the hospital drones, either get out of the way or fight em...DON'T whine to the TOT-er about it.

But 1 thing. I don't really like the idea of a generic attack until lv 40 or so. Besides that, the idea rocks. 1 question. Do you get to pick what damage type (with some limitations- coughpsioniccough

How about this: You pick the damage type at creation...with the exception of psionic. If you want to get Psionic damage, you SACRIFICE two unspent points (So the power is treated as if it had THREE points in the "Damage" catagory, but only does damage as if it had ONE point, but the damage is now psionic.) -
Not Bad At all...Duress would be sort of a "Jack Bauer" kinda thing...Hero has no choice but to play along...
