Well, Ultimus, i guess the SigPow idea will never see the light of day.
At least not in CoH.
It was a valiant effort though.
(Maybe they'll make CoH 2 and it'll be in there.)

Quote:Well, a VERY (belated) HAPPY BIRTHDAY to you!!Of course not, and ironically you posted this on my birthday May 29th
I brought it up in today's Q&A on Facebook, but it looks like they're not addressing it. Although they did answer my other questions, so maybe they're intentionally not saying anything? (One can hope anyway!)
And... Happy Halloween everyone! -
Wow! This thread is now just over 4 years old and it's STILL a popular idea. (The only other thing i can think of as that old and popular is the BRB (Big Red Ball), but not sure if that's still being thrown around anymore)
So, after learning more about Incarnates, it looks like i could have been wrong about SigPows being a part of that system. I can see where it could fit into the scheme of how those slots work.
Still hoping and praying that we get this someday. Hopefully no other super-MMOs decide to do this either first, or at all. I can see it being a decision maker for some people, now that the market has 3 (right?) main super-MMOs and people actually have to think about which game they want to play.
Anywho, just wanted to stop back in this thread as it's been awhile. Oh, and Ultimus, you got the first post of 2010 in this thread... looks like I take the first one of 2011, hehe.
+1 meelyun -
Hello again Ultimus! Good to see this thread is still (somewhat) active.
I finally found the info on Incarnates so that i could understand what it is all about... and it isn't your idea fleshed out at all. From what i read, it seems like they're just slots for global enhancements. So, say an Incarnate Boost to reduce the endurance drain of all powers, or more damage across the board, etc.. Which, if that's correct, is cool and all, but seems a bit lacklustre as an immortal power.
So, here i am, still hoping that SigPows make it into the game some day. It would definitely fit into the Incarnate system idea, thematically... so maybe they could tack it in there (Incarnate lvl 11?) later on.
Although, i'd rather see people be able to play with it earlier on (lvl 40 or so?)... like the power is building over time, so they could start of with a weaker, less robust power, but as they level up to 50 and on through Incarnate levels, they could continue to increase the effects of their Signature Power. -
I blame you for my lack of a topic to blame you for.

I'm about to pre-purchase, but i have two accounts.. so i'm thinking i'll get it for just one account for now, then wait and see if Rogue goes the way of Villains and is eventually included at no extra fee.
In the meantime, i'm excited to re-create my Test Server DP character, so... see y'all later -
I blame you for the Training Room taking so very, very long to install.

Grats on first comment of 2010 in this thread! lol..
i'm still hopeful for something to happen with this.. and still wouldn't be surprised if it was a slow-cooker. At least i hope so!
(well, even better if it were a fast-cooker, but you get my point)

I blame you for the Second Life forums closing.
nah.. that's a little harsh. (from my viewpoint anyway)
hmm.. i blame you for me still being awake at 4:10am (EST). -
I blame you for the fact i only have Blueberry Ale left, instead of another bottle of Rastafar Rye (although, they're by the same brewery and both tasty brews).

Ya' know.. if the AI actions were as interesting as the NPC dialog, we'd be set.
Over the past couple days, i've been really appreciating the oft-hilarious NPC dialog. It really shines as a bullet point of "cool stuff" in CoX.
Having the AI be much more dynamic would go an insane length to making this game that much more awesome. Maybe some lower level enemies scatter away from you, or higher levels chase you more. Commentary from enemy NPCs (including non-mission/instance) that is relative to the comparative level.. i.e., Greys will be afraid/respectful/wary, Purples would say challenging/demeaning stuff, etc..
Lots of room for improvement and interactivity/immersion with an increased AI.
Granted, that may not be the easiest thing to implement, but it's not necessarily all that difficult either. As in, it's mostly a matter of behavior modification and some extra text.. instead of having to create new maps/costumes/content/etc..
I have no doubt that type of experience would help keep new players interested, not to mention create an interest for people not even thinking about playing currently. -
Well, someone had to do it.. may as well be me.
Not only do i play it, i'm also a Lifetime account. Knowing me, i would pay for 6 months or a year at a time and forget to pay it long enough to cover the price anyway... plus you got 16 character slots instead of 8. (The STO Beta entry was a nice bonus, but it was the doubled slots that really got me)
It has it's pros and cons, i could easily list a bunch of cons.. but it's fun and i've made some fun characters (like my main, The Cramp). I have to admit, the Super-Jump animation "feels" a lot better. It almost makes me feel like CO is like Marvel to the DC-like world of City though... one's prettier, one's grittier.
Edit: *wave* and hello there, Infinity. (been awhile since i've posted here) -
i blame you for not actually caring much about post count padding anyway.

Not a bad idea Neon.. i like the slider version, sounds like it would make it a lot more intuitive.
Ultimus.. was this part of what you had in mind? or something different? (if different.. yea? nay? meh?) -
I blame you for not trolling more.. it's been a month!

Wow.. practically a necrothread and only on page 2??
hrm..
anyhoo.. personally, i work for a virtual world.. and work from home. (i get teased about it all the time). Good part: i can work in my pajamas if i want, Bad part: no such thing as a "snow day" or "traffic was backed up".
i'm close to 2 1/2 years in this job, the longest i've held in a long time. possibly ever.
i've even said if i won the lottery, i'd probably still keep my job (although i'd go down to part-time.. hehe)
oh yeah.. the worst part? having a full-time job means i don't get to play CoX as often as i did before my job. -
I blame you for thinking this thread was raised from the dead when it was just taking a nap.
-
I blame you for thinking i meant this thread was still here, instead of that i meant it hadn't progressed past the same page in 10 days.
(you're all usually so chatty in here! ..and i don't expect to see this thread disappear any time soon at all)
-
i blame you for this thread still being on the same page after i got back from a 10 day vacation. (And alcohol IS free.. on the casino floor
)

i blame you for the lack of teleportation devices and the resulting need to leave at unholy hours to catch a plane...

i blame you for not flying unsder the radar.. lol
