This thread is for discussions involving Issue 8 Known Issues, workarounds or things to be aware of when first playing on Issue 8. Please do not post any specific account information: this thread is for general guidance only. If you discover an issue where you need specific assistance with your account, please contact our support team through the "Ask A Question" tab.

Known Issues:

1. The Citadel Task Force is currently spawning some critters that are too high level for the intended difficulty. This could mean your group will not be able to comple the Task Force. The in-game support team is unable to adjust the critter's levels. Because of this we are asking for Heroes to refrain from attempting this Task Force until a fix is in place.

2. If you are experiencing any issues with chat windows taking up the whole screen please use this workaround:
1) Click on Menu, then Options.
2) Select the Graphics and Audio tab and scroll to the section where it has the Screen/UI Resolution and 3D Resolution Scaling.
3) Change the 3D Resolution Scaling to match the Screen/UI Resolution.
4) Click "Save Changes" and this should resolve this issue.

3. Workaround for changing the inside color of Veteran Reward Trenchcoats:
For characters who have already unlocked a Cape:
- Equip a cape and set the colors you desire for your Trenchcoat
- Switch back to the Trenchcoat
For characters who have not unlocked a Cape:
- Select the Trenchcoat, use the "copy color to all" button, select the color you want for the inside of the tail. Select any other costume option then de-select the "copy color to all" button.

4. Mastermind Thug Pets may not display upgrades properly.

5. Contacts Dr. Gregy Lenk and Dr. John Yu do not have any missions to offer.

6. Some extra objects or flavor items in missions may not be visible, but their collision volume is still in effect. This can lead to players may then run into things (like a box) and not see them.

7. There is an intermittant issue with passing insperations to team mates that may not allow the transfer to occur. The trade window can be used as a fall back means to make such transfers. Also, Villains and Heros can not trade, even if teamed for the Holiday Mission.

8. Supergroup base teleporters to Faultline may send Heroes to a location within the Doughnut shop where it may be necessary to use a teleportation device (such as the Pock D V.I.P Pass) or have someone with Teleport power Recall Friend to take you out of the Shop.

9. Gauntlet and other Inherent Taunt powers currently do not effect Lieutenant, Bosses or Underling rank critters.

Known Issue: The Known Issues page has not been updated for Issue 8.

Joking aside, can we get an updated version? This is a good idea for a thread because it will let players cite minor issues that aren't likely to make an official list but that everyone would appreciate knowing, nonetheless.

Trenchcoats - Interior of tail does not change.
Two workarounds:

1)Select a cape(20+), change the interior color to the desired one, switch back to trenchcoat (Shoulder cape Vet reward also works for this.)

2)Use copy current colors across costume to select desired interior color, deselct the option and resume costume making as normal.

Suggestion to fix- Either allow the trenchcoat to give the exterior/interior dialogue capes have or have the color bound to the trenchcoat color.(In other words selcting a color will apply to both exterior and interior of coat)

Greek Letters-
Epsilon,Zeta,Eta repeat in the selcet menu for both upper and lower case letters.

Both of these were mentioned during testing, I'm surprised they made it live.

Faultline Teleporters aren't working? funny, DoiDD got ours working after deleting the old beacon and reexploring all the exploration badges in the zone. We put the beacon back, and I'm almost 100% sure it's working now.

The exploration badges changed (some were added) wouldn't that change the beacon from working to not?

That's what we came up with anyway...

* Veteran Respecs for Kheldians will fail if the Veteran Sprints Reward has been collected beforehand. All Enhancements in your tray (NOT the ones slotted in your powers) before you begin the respec will be lost. The only known workaround is for Kheldian characters to [u]NOT[u] claim the Sprint Powers prior to using a respec.

stupid question - what makes a Veteran Respec any different for that? do normal (non-/respec) ones fail, too?

In my experience, it is the claiming of the perma-temp powers (Ghost Slaying Axe, Sands of Mu, etc.) that cause the RespecFailed error, and not the Prestige Sprints. I have tested this several times in various manners on the Test server. I can respec fine if I claim just the Prestige Sprints. But if I claim the Axe or the Sands, I fail miserably.

The failure seems to apply to any form of respec, be it Veteran Rewards, freespec, or earned respec.

Arcane Base- Medical Auxiliary and Defense items not working or attaching to items.
Arcane Base Auxiliary and Defense are bugged on both Hero side and Villain side
Tech Base- both work


I believe our children are our future and I reflect on the lessons and values we taught them.

Small Issue, Which I Have Already /Bugged:
The animation for Aim in the blaster Electric Blast set uses the same animation as the blaster Energy Blast version of Aim. That is, it has the blue and white sphere thingies instead of electricity like the Build Up animation has.

I can't quantify this at all, but things seem laggier than they were under I7. This may be because I was playing a Trick Arrow defender (with Glue Arrow) in a trench coat on a team of 8 (several of which were using the veteran reward goodies, including wings) running police band missions and a safeguard mission. But, everything seemed significantly laggier, to the point that my computer would pause for several seconds at a time and my frame rate felt like it was in the single digits.
Of course, like I said, I can't quantify this yet. But I will be keeping an eye on it.

Something else I noticed with the Trenchcoat color selection with regards to SG mode. No matter what you do you end up with the SG's secondary color as the inside of the trenchcoat. I can't figure out a way to get around that except by not running in SG mode

I really really hope that the use of the word "workaround" here means this will be fixed soon. We with craptastic video cards really appreciate being able to run the GUI at high res and the 3D slider somewhat lower.

Some issues I found tonight (and also during Testing):

* There's a weird sort of clipping on the left side of the neck on the new cape that drapes over the shoulders (ala Batman). There's also clipping with the Small Shoulderpads with this cape.
* The Blast Goggles Up clips into Male Hair - Styled. I noticed a very negligible amount of clipping with this combo on Test, but the clipping seems more pronounced on Live.
*I've tried the workarounds for the inside color of the trenchcoats, but when I uncheck the Copy All Colors button, the inside reverts back to black. I tried with three separate characters on different servers.

I didn't mention either of the first two during Test because I figured they had been brought up already. With the third (trenchcoat), the work arounds worked on Test so I'm kinda bummed they didn't work for me on Live.

Here's a real kicker of a glitch. Was doing Frostfire and the mission had no ice or fire effects during the whole mission on the wals or floors. But the whole team was still slipping and sliding on.....bare carpeted floors.

Yeah, I was experiencing some intermittent choppiness on a sewer team today. I dunno if it was the two sets of wings on the team, or if someone's power usage was at the root of it. Were I to take a guess, with what was going on I'd peg either the Force Field or the Earth Control powers that were being used as a likely culprit.

This was reported so hopefully it's known.. Skull belts are now missing from Jacket tops. They have been there since CoV but now they're gone as of I8 and was bug reported in game and through the forums. Please return the skull belts.

The Thug MM Tier 1 and Tier 2 upgrades are still not working..

if you use the Tier 2 upgrade then the Tier 1 .. the upgrades work but the graphics will not display correctyly. it also seems that you can double stack a tier 2 upgrade.. because it will display upgrade 1, upgrade 1 for the pet powers.

I suspect its a glitch with the upgrades not being applied and not a graphics issue. but I'll let the devs sort that out.

Along the same lines - all the graphics are missing in the Shadow Shard molepoints, as are the sand bags in Portal Corp. The items are actually there (you can play with people's minds by doing poses on the PI sand bags ) but are invisible. This makes the Molepoint tutorial mission in the Shadow Shard just about impossible to do as you can't see the portal you are supposed to click on.

Last time this bug came up, it also made a mess of the final room in the Revenant Hero story arc on the hero side. The final room is... well, I don't want to spoil it but there are supposed to be things on the ceiling. Last time the Molepoint graphics vanished, those ceiling things vanished as well. Might want to check them while you're at it.

Has anyone checked the Oribitting Death warshade power?? It still absolutely kills framerate for me on Test. Make sure you're close to a wall when you try it out.

Looping sounds, toggles dropping when you zone, and other long standing known issues are still around. Not sure if you want them in this topic, though.

We were running the Air Pirate Strike force today, and our Thugs MM was having trouble with Gang War. I watched him use it over and over and over again, but it only worked once, the first time. This was the last mission of the strike force. It worked in the ship, but not out on the peir, on the other ships, or anywhere else Dulay was. I don't really know how he had this slotted, but it definately made things harder not having use of that power.

I had some left over halloween event salvage pieces (Statesman Mask, Lord Recluse Mask, Back Alley Brawler Gloves, and Hamidon Costume). Now for some odd reason the icons have all been replaced with a glowing purple canister icon and with orange text names.

FSAA
Setting FSAA in game to 4X causes the world, but not your in game windows/menus to go black. With 2X it sometimes works. FSAA managed in game has a higher performance hit than having FSAA managed by the Catalyst Control Center.
-Note: This issue may be related to running 1920X1200 on an LCD through DVI.

Crytpic's HDR Implementation
Bloom, Depth of Field and Water set to High break FSAA, regardless of how FSAA is enabled. One or all three, any combination. As it was explained to me by the developers, these three effects are rendered using a pixel buffer and ATI's FSAA implementation can not function with this pixel buffer. Other terms I've seen used for this pixel buffer: front buffer, post-process rendering. Low Water does not use this pixel buffer and so does not break FSAA.
There is another bug that was introduced around the Catalyst 6.7s that causes a ghosted image to appear when you look out over water. This ghost image is of whatever was on your screen at either the moment you turned on one of the three effects, or whatever was on the screen at login if you already had an effect enabled. As of the Catalyst 6.10s, this ghosted image is still an issue.

The Contact and Character Information Windows
On AGP ATI cards, Fast Writes MUST be enabled, or crashes are likely to occur when these screens are called up. Even if fast writes are enabled, there is still a substantial pause when clicking on Contacts, and this pause is directly related to the number of images within the list.
-Note: Issue 8 is on test, and the way these images are brought forth has changed. Although there is no longer a pause, on my system at least, there is a major FPS hit as the images are loaded.

Grandville and 92** series cards
Having Geometry Buffers enabled within the game while using a 92** series card causes graphical anomolies in Grandville and often an inability to even zone there.

When I use Psychic Scream (Psionic scream, whatever) on my defender, it usually goes in incredibly slow motion for about 5-10 seconds while everything else around me goes at normal speed. Meaning I'm getting pounded on by enemies while I sit there with a glowing ring in front of me, watching everything else move at normal speed. I hope this isn't intentional :[

Kheldian Nova and Dwarf forms... and Stone Tankers' Granite Armor sometimes appear to drop (Dwarfs and Novas appear to turn back to human form, Granite Tankers appear to detoggle back to their non-armored state). The forms/armor are in fact still operating, just the toon APPEARS to no longer be in the form/armor.

this is not just clientside, as other people see you in your non-form/armored state.

This was the case on Test, eventually they uploaded the correct icons. The ones you see now are just placeholders until they patch in the right graphics.
