Official Thread: Issue 8 Known Issues
I'd check your teleport destination...
No thanks, I'm not hungry right now.
I'm definitely not THAT hungry.
Yes that's my intrepid PB, stuck in the donut shop. Good thing he has Dwarf and could teleport himself out of there.
Bugs I have experienced - game crashes. Game crashes. Game crahses. Game slows down. Game crashes. Reboot computer, game crashes - lose all xp gained in mish. Game crashes. Lose all bounty earned in SC, game crashes.
Not sure if this is the right place to post this, but...
I try to run with my inspirations bin full, or close to it, as much as possible. I believe that this is true of many if not all players.
The latest patch seems to have added the 'feature' that when the inspiration bin is full, the "Inspirations" text in your tray turns red, much like when you have an email. The color red is typically used to attract one's attention to a problem or something that requires action (such as when your enhancement tray fills up, and you might wish to delete or sell some). However, having a full bin of inspirations is not a problem; it is the desired situation.
The result, therefore, is that I now have a red warning light on my "dashboard" telling me that... I have a full tank of gas? What? Am I supposed to start deleting inspirations to "make room"?
Please roll this change back. I do not need to (almost) constantly see a bright red word on my tray telling me that ... everything is fine, actually.

A little of what I have noticed:
1st the crashes are annoying and I agree these need to be fixed. I have heard many rumors about the crashes being caused by capes. I don't know if there is any truth to this or not, but my main character has a cape on all of the time and the crashed seem to happen only when someone is around with a trench coat.
- I have seen allot of people complaining about the red text when inspirations are full. I don't think this is a bug, an honestly think this is the way it was meant to work from the beginning but since so many people seemed to be bothered by it, maybe it should be set back to the way it once was.
- Mobs out of reach (IE in ceilings or walls). This one seems to happen more than it did before and is a bit of a pain, but I wouldn't put it on the same level as all the random crashes. I wonder if it would be posable to write abit of code that would check a mobs location and force the mob to /stuck if it is in a place where it can not be damaged in melee combat?
- Enter the mission of nothingness. I have noticed that on some missions when you enter you take damage as tho falling even if fly is on, and find yourself surrounded in a pit of nothingness. After playing around in it for a while I found that you are actually spawned on the outside of the walls in the mission and you can in fact fly up to the walls and see into the mission, after doing this you can /stuck and get to the correct side but will more than likely be torn apart by the mob you just spawned in front of.
and lastly this is not a bug but a glaring oversight on I8 veteran rewards a system has been created to reward players for the length of time that they have had an active account. Awsome, more power to you. The bigger issue is that inevitably there will come a time when NO ONE will be able to use ALL of the features of the game. As time rolls on inevitably everyone will miss at least one payment period. and there is no option in place for buying missed time. Now I agree 90% of this stuff is nothing more than "cookies" extra costume parts etc.. but the powers add an interesting balance issue. with all the nerfs that have been done in the past and are planned in the future, to counter mind this by adding extra powers to only those who have had their account for x amount of months seems silly, I meen where is the balance in this?
When I use the base TP from vet rewards I tp in and in about 3-5 min I am automaticly tp'd back to location I originally tp'd from

The other option being the way another game does it. Say I started my account the DAY of launch. Played for one month. Quit. Come back 3 YEARS later... Wow, look I got 3 month vet reward. 6 month. 9 month. 12 month. 15 month. 18 month. 21 month. 24 month. 28 month. 32 month. 36 month. Only actually had an active account ONE Month, but whoa look I've been playing for 3 whole years!!! Go me!!!

With all due respect, the vet rewards are there for peopel who have actually been playign for the length of time. These are purely a reward for, well, veteran players. Of course, my paying & playing 3 years may break down to fewer actual hours of gametime than your paying and playing for 3 months, but then again Cryptic doesn't get paid per hour of game played. It's also a sort of "carrot" to entice players to keep playing.
The temp power are not unbalancing at all. You cannot slot them, an don a character w/ a few levels under his or her belt, they will actually result in a less effective chain of attacks than a normal power would. Even in the case of controllers, who don't get direct attacks until APPs, they'd be better off taking a few pool power attacks. The only time I find them even remotely useful is in 2 circumstances: my lowbie stalker took the ghost slaying axe to fight all those damn CoT ghosts, and my ss/sa brute took sands for the times when he's slowed and waiting for other powers to recharge. I never had a problem leveling my othe rcharacters before the vet rewards, though, so I treat them as just icing on the cake and nothing more. Do you honetly think they will make the difference in the long run? Also, would you really be willing to pay for months if it gave you nothing but the vet rewards? How much is a permanant sands of mu worth to you? How much is a perm nemesis staff worth?
I've noticed that my Ice/Ice tank can't seem to hold aggro even with Icicles and CE running - the "auto-taunts" for both these powers (and possibly even gauntlet) seem to be supressed/turned off.
That and the occasional crash.

When you boil a game like this down to its raw element, the strategy becomes who can deal the most damage in the shortest amount of time, while keeping your own health up, and up until I8 there was no true answer to this question, there were some good answers but none were perfect, that is why the nerfing keeps happening to keep any one person (or team of people) from having any true advantage over another. But now with the addition of I8 there is a definitive answer, and that answer is he with the veteran awards. The proof is quite simply in the fact that you do use them. You might not use them often, but in the raw numbers game it adds a little extra. Take 2 lvl 10 INV/SS tanks with the exact same build the only exception being one has vet rewards the other does not, throw them in the arena against one another and see who wins.
Now admittedly at this stage in the game its not that big of an unbalance, and I am aware of other unbalances in the game that are so laughable that I will not mention here in fear that they will get nerfed. But the fact remains that more veteran rewards are planned, and more powers are planned in said rewards, so how many powers will it take before there is a clear and glaring unbalance in the game?
You also have to look at the reverse; while the one tank w/ the vet rewards may very well be missing w/ his vet atatcks that aren't/can't be slotted, the other tank doesn't rely on them, and as such hits more often, and for more damage. Level 10 is a bad example, however, as the sheer scarcity of attack powers does make a difference. But, in the high levels, which is where most PvP takes place, people have full attack chains, and it is simply impractical to try to shoehorn the vet attacks in there.
I see what you're getting at, though: lets take this to some extreme. Imagine someone down the line w/ 5 years' of payed & played time on their account. Would they have 3/4/5 extra powers? Could they make it into a full chain then?
Perhaps a better solution would have been to introduce things like a "prestige brawl", which replaces your normal brawl. It'd be exactly the same as brawl, except maybe you attack w/ a buck knife, or brass knuckles; just a slightly different animation.
Personally, I think it's more a matter of the devs choosing things they already had in-game, and just changing a few variables. These were temp powers already animated and created...

I agree with you 100%, twas the exact point I was trying to get to, I just lacked the words. Thank you.
I see the whole debate over "Vet rewards are evil" about the same I see the whole "Vet badges are so unfair" topic over at badge-hunter.com Some people are of the idea that if they work really hard to get ALL the badges in the game, there should not be any badges they CANNOT get (tends to be (although not all) the same people that scream bloody murder over Celebrant, Reveler, and 5th Columnist. Even with them bringing back the Holiday badges, those 3, plus now Pursuer/Elusive, will NEVER be available again). I've been playing for 5 months (that's my vet reward time). The argument is that you can get the veteran badges, you will get them. I don't resent the badge-hunters that have been playing longer than me and suddenly have badges to prove it. They earned those badges. I will earn them someday.
Well I have a complaint that I am quite sure everyone has gone thru at least once with this new patch, Game Client crashes. I have never experienced this before and every since the I8 update it happens 2-4 times per day. I have tried /unloadgfx and everything even lowering settings (which I never had to do) and I still crash and see many others do it too. It happens mainly on the villains side for mean Especially Grandville.
I love the Faultline story arcs, but I've ran into an issue on Captain Castillo. Delilah (forgot the spelling) meets you, but when I take one of the Lifts, she follows me but won't come off. I think she's stuck inside the lift (I used Fortitude on her, and clearly you could see the fortitude within the lift structure). I tried going back down and up, no change. Dunno if it's one time bug or it always happens. As a healer, it really stinks since she's quite helpful.

You need to go back over my posts and read them again. I am not saying Veteran rewards are evil at all. In fact I LOVE the idea of Veteran rewards. I think the devs did a wonder full job on all of the new costume parts, and cant wait till I get my samurai armor. All I am simply saying is that powers should not be in the veteran rewards as it adds an unbalance to a game that prides themselves on balance.
Just noticed while playing a /kin - Siphon Power does not make a little icon appear up by all the other status effect icons. Upon activating the power, the Combat text would say it was activated, not say it missed, but the icon didn't appear. My damage increased, though.
i was playing my kin defender extensively yesterday and had no trouble with the siphon power icon. It was stacking properly when i had two up at once, showing properly when i was casting and was blinking properly when falling down.

It's a long standing bug.
Enable Auto Power icons and you will see it. For some reason, the game considers both Fulcrum Shift and Siphon Power to be Auto Powers.

Lighthouse: Can you please stop scaring the crap out of me and put the horribly broken tanker taunt aura problem in the "known issues". I'm terrified that it won't get fixed.
Today I ran my 30 tank in police band missions and normal mission fighting counsel in 6-8 man teams set on invins. We ran into multiple lvl 35 boss wolves while the other bosses were the same lvl as the mimions and leutenants. I logged out for a few hours and loged back in and ran into the same problem while running another players lvl 31 invins mission lv.
Either overlong list of "50's" or obligatory quote, your choice.
New badge bug I ran into last night. COV Corlax Blue Hybrid Gladiator badge is supposedly for defeating 100 Coralax Blue Hybrids. Our team defeated 110+ in a row just to see if it was working to no avail add that to the ones we already had defeated. Just for the hell of it we took down over 100+ Reds to see if badge information was wrong. No luck there either. Petition sent. Previously reported mission that wouldn't load bug seems to be lag/load time induced I took a team in and 1 person made it in and cleared it for me the rest of us lagged out. So just add that to the random lag/ game crash pile.

When my Storm/Elec Defender uses his Steamy Mist power, the tail of his trenchcoat is still visible during initial animation, and sometimes when I'm inside of the Snow Storm power with Steamy Mist active. It's barely noticeable, and might be on my side, but in case it isn't, it has been documented.
Here's something else that I just noticed...
It's not an in-game thing, but it has to do with the client loader screen.
When I clicked on the link to Ageia Driver download, the link opened up inside the Loader, and not in Explorer or FireFox. I've clicked it before, and it loaded up in Explorer. Matter of Fact, all links in the loader load up in Explorer; nothing has ever loaded up inside the Client Loader. Don't know if that has anything to do with I8, or if it's an issue, but in any case, it has been documented.
Again, LoL.
This is a Faultline mission bug..
Went to do the mission for Agent G where you have to find the underground base.
But.. it can't be completed. There's no glowie and we explored the thing fully six
times or more. The mission is something like 'Clear Out 1st Ruin'.
Hi. Bugs Ive experienced post-i8 as follows.
MM Pet Glitch - pets not following very far in a cave mission & bizarro npcs.
The pets made it past the 1st tunnel & got stuck at the next junction. They wouldnt follow any further, they just ran back & forth down the previous hallway. I tried resummoning them further in the map, but as soon as they took one step, they vanished instantly & ended up back at the hallway that they last got stuck in. Exiting & re-entering the mission made no difference, neither did restarting the game.
I completed the mission due to another bug, as soon as I attacked any of the council critters, they took a step, and they also vanished way back to the point where my pets were. I noticed this when I saw my pets health dropping and dieing. So I would attack a council critter, watch it move then vanish, then I would run back to my dieing pets, heal them, and defeat the council. I did this until I finally got to kidnap Archon Winter, he took a step, then he vanished way back at the beginning of the map. So did all the ambushes that turned up. Multiple deaths of my pets, followed by lots of resummoning/healing etc, I finally defeated all the council, and managed to lead the kidnap victim to the exit. I guess I am lucky that they were all able to move along the first tunnel, there was no problem for any of the critters along that tunnel. It was only further into the map that everything (other than me) would vanish (like a mysterious teleport) back to near the mission entrance. This took me nearly 2 hours. Yes I petitioned support.
Unusual death animation on Wailers & Hordelings.
Instead of falling down dead & staying dead, they stand up, flop forwards & fall down again, over & over & over until they vanish. This was amusing the first 5 times, but once we got a wailer mission with large mobs, it was very hard to target properly - eg - with AOE's you would look for a big mob & hit it, only to find out that there was only 1 live critter in it & that you wasted the power. Yes I petitioned support.
Glowie missing but can hear it (sounded like it was behind a wall/staircase & we could not get to it). Im not sure if it was just invisible, or whether it actually was in the wall. We tried clicking everywhere to no avail.
Enemy critters stuck in the roof (already in the ceiling when you turn up). Old bug, still present. Eg, hollows mission, defeat all outcasts in base (contact Wincott).
Please fix knockback, it is still broken.
When someone uses knockback during a cave mission, enemy ends up in the wall. OR when attacking enemy critter with knockback next to a door, you push it through the door!
Power button activation - showing the power is ready, but can't click on it, as it still is not recharged.
Snowstorm duration bugged?
Snow storm was cast on a council minion. We were outmatched on the mission & died many times. Eventually the defender with snowstorm left team/quit. We continued on trying to complete the mission. We found the minion still with snowstorm in affect on him, even though nobody left on our team had that power. All the players left on the team could see the snowstorm animation.
Power animations missing. This is annoying, as I can't tell if I cast the power or not.
Inspirations & mastermind pets
Dragging an inspiration & dropping it on my MM pets - if I do it with the pet too far away, the inspiration goes missing. At first I thought Id somehow deleted it, as it's original place in the inspiration tray was left empty. But then when I dragged another inspiration across into the vacant ones place, the tray was full again, showing the original one that I had tried placing on my pet. It seems that this only happens when the pet is too far away to receive the inspiration buff so it fails & stays in my tray, but the bug is that the inspiration becomes invisible until you move another one to the same place (like swapping places).
When in base editor, going in & out of that mode sometimes puts you inside the base portal. (Yes I know /stuck fixes that, but it is still annoying).
Players getting kicked out of the SG base.
This doesn't just happen to me. When I am booted, I turn around to go back in, only to see 2 or 3 other dazed players who were also booted out of their own sgs. (Usually a conversation follows of "you were booted out of yours too? Geez I wish they would fix that bug"). Having to wait to zone back in/out of the base is very annoying.
Crash to desktop happening more often. ie - "City of Heroes has encountered a problem, and needs to close"
I am rubberbanding & lagging more often, but Ill post the details of that in the performance issues thread instead.
But I will say this, ever since i7 my lag got worse. Prior to i7 I had very little problems. Note that the lag is much worse in the following situations:
* large teams (especially teams of 8)
* fighting giant monsters (where 2 or more teams are present)
* towards the end of a task force (rebooting can fix this)
* if on a team with 1 or more masterminds
* if in Atlas Park, especially when a costume contest is on
* if a flame corrupter (with healing flames) is on the team, or buffs you with fire shields
* Going into Grandville has been painful for me since it went live in i7. Between the ferry & the arbiter it lags like hell. I avoid playing my level 44 dominator because of this (Ive been playing my low levels instead).
