Poll: What do you like most?

While I do like all of these features, I voted for PvP. Even though it has massive problems, some of my best memories of this game so far are from PvP.

Those moments that make me vote PvP:
-10 minute fights with my Dominator against a Tanker. Talk about epic; it felt like a real super hero/villain throwdown.
-Witnessing the top PvP groups run their matches on test. It's hard to see at first, but once you get an eye for it it's like watching artwork being made.
-Impossible odds fights. I've had a few times where I did something I though was impossible, and just had to sit there for a minute to take it in.
-Meeting cool people on either side, and learning to be a better player from them. When PvP isn't so cutthroat, it's a good way to have friendly competition against people you may not normally see and to learn the ins and outs of your character more.

I, and a lot of other PvPers, feel that it would be a shining feature of this game if some time were put into it. I admit that it can get VERY frustrating at times, but those peaks are what make it worth it. And with a bit of polish, those low points will become that less frequent, and the high that much moreso.

I choose Storyline, but it is really tied with costumes.
If I could choose something which I like the LEAST (read: Hate), it would be PvP.

Main Hero: Flame Blade (Scrapper lvl 50; Katana/Regeneration)
Main Villain: Elenor Seahawk (Mastermind lvl 44; Necromancy/Poison)
My Arcs: #337278: Learning Curve

- It's a superhero game
- The combat engine
- The ability to solo when I want
- The costume creator hey that's on the list! I can stop here.

Ditto.

I wonder what purpose is behind this poll? Why does the cynic in my worry that the result will be used to form another opinion that is yet again far removed from the player base?

The game needs to have more immersion. I would do this thru making STORY PANELS LIKE IN A COMIC.

You are assigned the arrest of Frost Fire and a small still scene pops up with 4 - 6 panels showing where Frost Fire has made his home.

You defeat Frost Fire and a small 4 - 6 panels pop up showing Frost Fire being lead away and your contact saying - THANKS!

Is this a comic book tribute game or not?

You have such a wonderful vehicle and you just touch the surface.

Wow...

That's actually a really neat idea. Have you ever bothered to post this in Suggestions and Ideas?

I know you said keep it to the list, and I did vote "story", but I thought I'd just mention, my #1 feature that I love about CoX is:

Well, hard to choose, so I'm going to pick two

The SK/Exemp system.
and
The way missions scale to the group size.

I chose costumes, but I feel the need to elaborate:

I like the variety. Not just costumes, but origins, archetypes and powers. Especially powers. The more variety I have, the happier I am. I would LOVE to have more freedom among the powersets to choose combinations. I would LOVE to have orgin-specific abilities to choose from. I would LOVE to have more character complexity and uniqueness.

I know that there are always balance issues and min-maxing issues and that development of new powers, archetypes and abilities are very development intensive, but in my opinion, it's the most unique thing CoH/CoV offers. Your variety of character options are almost unmatched. I think you should continue to play to your strengths. *nod*

As has already been posted the selections do not include my preference- the PVE gameplay experience. Out of the options provided I chose storyline.

Those who like badges?

Im kinda scared that What Ive read of the thread it appears costumes are the most wanted. Have to say if this becomes the main focus I probably wont stick around much longer. However my favorite is storylines.

I may be one of the minorities in the community (at the time I votes, I was part of the 6%) that likes badges.

So be it.
GIMME MORE BADGES!

Indeed.

Storyline was my choice aside from that. I'd love to see combat become a little more involving (how about some team up attacks? Pipe dream i know but it would be cool... for me at least) but at the moment, it's the most fun of any MMO.

From the list
-Bases
-Badges
-Costumes
-Storyline
-Fr34k5h0w

Bases need more love!!

After all we asked for it and they came through. I love my VG base and I use it more many times everyday. I <3 storage bins and the ability to go to ANY zone from the base. So far the bases only have 34% of our votes; MO LUV TO BASES!

Other things my <3 melts over
-Travel powers!!!
-Combat
-Community (Go Virtue!)
-Game Originality
-Oh, and I gotta show some love for the devs! We may whine and moan all day about little things in the game but in the end City of Heroes and City of Villains are the greatest MMOs I've ever had the pleaseure of being a part of. Keep up the good work and there might be some cookies in it for ya.

The list can go on and on but I have to stop somewhere.

Where is the choice for "other"? Personally I like the variety of powers. There should be a "what do you not like about CoX" or "what was the worst change we've made" poll!

Who do I have to *&^% around here to get more Targeted AoE recipes added?

Sure wish we could rank them.

I must stress a point: While costumes are my favorite feature, and are what got me hooked on the game in the first place, badges come in a very close second. It's just that I have fun with costumes on all of my toons, whereas I only have one badge-collector toon. It's more effort to have more than one than I can deal with.

Hmmmm What would I vote for...

*Looks at signature*

Oh yeah, no question. Part of the 6% minority baby!!!!

Badges! We need mo' Stinkin' badges!

My vote went to the storyline.

The story is composed of the specific groups - I love choosing specific groups as nemesis for individual characters and working their stories into my character's story, and thus becoming part of the overall City story.

And I too must comment that PvP made the list.... and PvE most surely did not.

Number 1 would have to be costumes. It's almost as much fun creating a new character as it is playing/leveling her. I'll spend as much as 30-45 minutes trying out different combinations to find just the look I like. Even then I am rarely satisfied at one point I had around 6 free costume tokens on my 42 Level MM .... I changed her so much and so often trying to come up with "just the right look" that several members of my old VG that I teamed with all the time didn't recognize me. LOL

Number 2 (I know, I know I'm only supposed to pick one but I just can't ) Is the friends I've made here. If I'm not on a mission you can't shut me up. Even when I am inside a mission if I'm not actively fighting someone... I'm chatting. Now if I'm on a team I refrain because I don't want to get anyone killed or hold thing up while I BS .. but if I'm solo I'm chatting!

Numer 3 (Okay so I can't follow direction... sue me ) Story Arcs. Newspaper mission on COV are great for quick leveling and I'm looking forward to the Police Scanner mission on COH .. but it make the game more interesting when you run an arc where one mission leads to another until you complete the goal the contact is trying to accomplish.

Number 4 (Oh just stop yelling at me I'm almost done I swear ) Badges! I ummm actually have a macro set up on Harley Babe where all six minions point a finger at her, laugh and chant "Harley is a Badge [censored], Harley is a Badge [censored]" Usually use that right after we've completed a badge mission to make my team mates laugh and of course I respond that I am not and then proceed to weep and tell them to stop picking on me.

Okay I'm done... I promise No really I swear I don't have any more favorites and I'll be good now!

Interesting how 10% (atm) put PvP and yet IMO that part of the game gets more than 10% of the focus.

So you noticed that too? Doing a little quick math:

502 people chose story arcs (meaning PvE)
147 people chose PvE

So 77.3% of people that didn't go vote for costumes, badges or bases obviously prefer to play PvE over PvP. Costumes lead all candidate and those apply to either (same with badges but guess what .. lot more PVE badges out there than there are ones for PVP)

Can we send the final results of this poll to Posi and the Devs so they can TRY to understand the real appeal of their game?

I'd have to look, and it could have been deleted, but last year I made a comment in a thread to someone who was vehemently opposed to PvP (it might have been on the CoV beta boards though) that this PvP was different.

It would not appeal to typical PvPers. I think that they made a casual player friendly PvP system here.

So, anti-PvPers will not play it and typical PvPers will not play it. Leaving just a few of us who wander in now and then for fun and the few who do love what they have. One of the guys in our SG rarely comes out since he is above the auto-SK/EX level of Sirens.

I drop influence on him so he can change his costumes.

I am actually surprised PvP is getting 10% at the moment.
