Poll: What do you like most?
Storyline for me. I like to incoporate my own stories in to the CoX world, pitting my forces against the various evils that plague the city, or carving my own niche in the Isles while battling for supremacy amongst the other wannabe bad guys.
The costumes come in second. They kick [censored].
Storyline to a degree, but what I really want the most of all is the post 50 content. I wanna keep making my main carater as strong as he can I wanna feel super powerful.
I didnt really read alot of posts, but I have to say badges are one main thing that keeps me comin back. That and storyline are good. Costumes are somewhere up there too lol.
PvP PvP PvP!
specifically,
1. story line (it took superheroes to get me back to online gaming after Diablo II)
2. costumes (love being able to wow myself and friends w a new look)
2. Bases (tied with cotumes. It is extremely cool to be able to actually design an aspect of the game that others can participate in, now if they just got unbugged...)
4. Badges (I have something to collect after the xp ends, could live w/o these w true end-game content though)
4. PvP (tied with badges. another form of end-game that is buggy)
6. Mob types (I actually wish we had some free floating/unaligned villains to bust on. The closest we get to this is PvP. It would be nice to see a contact give entirely new PvE opponents that don't fit into any established group. We would have zero knowledge of what to expect until one of the uber-fans wrote up all new details on them. Basically missions where you arrest the people in the mayhem/safeguard prison breaks. Comic book villains usually attempt to form societies, but they almost always break up. I am extremely tired of fighting CoT after 50 levels)
*now if you had asked about power choices, that would definitely be tied with costumes. I would be EXTREMELY happy if the game added a new powerset (to both CoH and CoV) every issue and rotated them through the ATs (i9 gives scrapper/stalker, i10 gives defender/corrupter, etc - of course I can imagine the demands on which AT deserves the next hot seat for love but oh well nothing is perfect). And give us new ATs that mix/match stuff as seen from the hero vs villain ATs, and, and, and........
For those who are asking why no "PvE" selection. Everything on the list besides PvP is PvE. When you fight the mobs you are fighting vs the environment. When you read the storylines, you are reading about the environment. Badges come from the environment 90% + of the time. PvE is too generic a term for the poll. I think the Devs were looking to home in on which aspect of PvE you prefered.
For those wondering about the numbers. I see 2 sets beside each answer. I assume the large number = actual votes, and the small % number = percentage of votes. Guess this might be new since the poll was released

what he said.
Story... personally I feel that it's high time lots of new contacts where added, rather than just new zones.
Storyline, but costumes and badges run very close behind. I like bases, but unless you have edit privileges, they likely won't grab your attention.
I really would like to see some advancement in the overall storyline in this game. Even by the standards of comics, the plot here is moving at a snail's pace. I would love to log in someday and reminisce about how we thought the CoT were bad until we got a good look at the Mu, or how some relatively minor little plot point that most of us had seen and forgot about became a driving force for some huge storyline.
"I wish my life was a non-stop Hollywood movie show,
A fantasy world of celluloid villains and heroes."
Unlocking new powers should have been on that poll, that would have been my pick. Costumes after that, and some of the villain groups after that. I'm thinking Sky Raiders, Freakshow, Crey, and Nemesis in particular, the science-fictiony ones. There just isn't enough steampunk or cyberpunk in this world.
Storyline here.
Personally I am a comiic book geek at heart and I love continual stories and things that keep my interests in comics. Inferno, Crisis,Mutant Massacre and all events leading up to it.
PEEEVEEEEPVEEEEE pwez!
Seeing Costumes up there at number one worries me a little. Costume pieces are nice, but ultimately don't add much to the game. Having played avidly since launch, I can say without question, new zones, new missions, new enemies, new things to do are by far the most healthy additions.
Wings are great until you remember that you stopped playing because the game has gotten boring, not the costumes.
I guess I'll pick PvP in hopes that it'll get some love.
Just my 2 cents.
If I'm just picking one, I'd say the costumes first and foremost. CoX's vast range of personal customability beats the pants of everything else out there, and easily is the biggest selling point of the game. The best part is they haven't gotten complacent even despite being better than every other game, and keep adding to their mammoth costume selections.
It's a sign of just how spoiled the player base is that we actually dare to complain about clipping issues or tail availability on certain costume bit, compared to the competition.
My unofficial number 2 vote is for the storyline. There's a palpable sense of your character actually mattering in the game world, even in spite of the game needing to keep things fairly static. CoV has an excellent on-going storyline as MMOs go (even if a bit light on villainy overall), but CoH also does a good job of making you feel important.
You never really get a sense of being particularly important in most other MMOs, including that certain big one everyone plays, and I really appreciate how in CoH your high level hero starts to be mentioned in the same breath as the game's equivalent of the Justice League. There's a bit of a disconnect when it comes to the capabilities of PCs versus NPCs, but it's nice to be able to plausibly think that, were YOUR character an NPC, it'd take 8 people to bring him down as well.
Number three is the badges, since I'm a card carrying Badge Person-Of-Ill-Repute. It's all the fun of loot grinding, without the unpleasant elitism factor. It's the most useless past time ever, since even the sweet accolades you get for badge collecting are strictly optional, but on the other hand it's fun precisely because you don't need to. If you don't feel like grinding for Banisher today, don't. You won't fall behind for it (heck, the reverse is true).
Bases are kinda fun, but only because I'm the architect of a now mostly defunct SG. They need improvement, though, because even I only see them as communal banks and teleport hubs. I want to like PvP, but the known imbalances in the current system are too steep a hurdle for me to overcome. There's just too many overwhelmingly good tools that require no skill to use. PvP victory should go to the skilled, not the people who hit the Easy button at powerset selection.
Arc #41077 - The Men of State
Arc #48845 - Operation: Dirty Snowball
Love costumes, but PvP gets my vote as well. IMO, it has the most potential of all the items mentioned but is the most underdeveloped / underutilized. Costumes and storyline are are already so full featured and realized.
Fix PvP.
PvP.

I would have picked PvE Combat if that was an option, which it should have been IMO.

It would've been my second choice after customization/costumes - which itself would've been second to "it's a Superhero Game" had that been on the list.

- It's a superhero game
- The combat engine
- The ability to solo when I want
- The costume creator hey that's on the list! I can stop here.

Wow... that's the exact order I had with the powersets immediately following costumes.
Costumes was the winner on that list. The real winner is the customability of characters. I love how the game plays differently with each of my 30+ toons. Second is the fast-paced and wild nature of multi-opponent combat compared to other MoGs. Costumes are a very strong third.
Edit: This doesn't mean costumes should be the #1 priority for developers. The reason the other aspects of the game are less valued than costumes is because they need more development. This is particularily true of story lines - making the story fluff texts avaialble to everyone (not just the team lead) would increase the value of the story by a lot.
I think a more telling survey would be "What part of the game is in need of development?".
It was costumes and the whole being a superhero thing that got me into the game, and I've one character whose collected if not all, most of the badges.
But (aside from the people) it's pvp that keeps me in the game now and is easily top of my list. Heck not even all my chars have all their costume slots (and I'm a girl, I should live in Icon!)
After two and a half years I've seen every storyline, TF and mission the game has to offer hero side and any new hero picks and chooses my favorite ones now, and they are always tech heroes because I love the freaks arcs.
I'm among the many who voted for the costume options.
I tell you folks, I have members of my tabletop RPG who can't afford to upgrade their computers so they'll run this game -- and after I let them sit with me at my computer and create their tabletop character in the game (just long enough for me to take some screencaps and print them out), their low-end computers are the ONLY thing stopping them from each getting his own Co* account.
The costume creator alone sells this game; every fascinating thing after that is the reason I stay after I've finally exhausted our costume ideas.

I dodn't want to hijack this thread, so I wrote an answer to this in a separate thread: Storylines and In-Game History .
I had to go with storylines. Running some of Television's arcs the other night on my 48 Brute was some of the most fun I've had in-game. Possibly my favorite contact of all time.
Also the reason I loathe non-arc missions, especially the kill 10 whatevers for every zone hero-side. Even though I've done an arc before on another alt it's still a feeling of being part of something important when you're working through an arc, gathering clues, and working up to the inevitable showdown with Boss/EB/AV (or Hero on CoV).
Arcs are like a great mini-series of comics, each mission being an issue. Playing a comic book is what the whole game aspires to be.
I pretty much like the character creation process the best. Not just the costumes, but powers, their names and backgrounds. I suppose that is so much fun, because the game is so good at what it does that it lets you focus on the things that you want to.So I picked costumes, but it's whats under the hood that makes my every day gameplay a pleasure.

AngelBurst
Costumes, I suppose, since I can't choose community.
