Poll: What do you like most?

it's not listed, but I would've voted for killing in style because it's a lot of fun blowing stuff up in this mmo..that said I do not enjoy PVE because it is incredibly repetitive due to the repeating tilesets and I cannot vote for storyline because you guys do not give the storylines the treatment they deserve....for example tilesets that actually reflect what's happening in the story, warehouse this, office that - zzzzzzzz. Imo you should not have been fixing faultline but creating a whole slew of new tilesets which after 2 years this game desperately needs.

I think you underestimate how much of an impact a well designed map can have on the game as a whole. Case in point, Striga and The Hess TF in particular, the only storyarc that is given proper treatment in the whole of CoX. Which considering how much story "content" (lol) you guys have, it's pretty pathetic to see how shallow PVE is...consider the many misfiring TF's...Positron, Synapse, Manticore etc etc which are all Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz in my book.

Even the PVP centric Guild Wars executes it's storytelling better, with missions and sidequests that reflect a sweeping story arc.

How about this idea? We have Boss showdown scenarios whereby heroes reaching the end of a storyarc do not just bearhug the AV till it dies (AV battles are sooooooo one-sided), but instead are treated to cutscenes involving the players and elaborate finales - say the showdown with Dr.Vahz could involve all of the heroes being captured, trapped in chambers in Vahz's lab (they're being prepped for Dr.Vahz's next experiment). Dr.Vahz steps out of the room and the heroes now have 1 minute to bust out and free each other before Dr.Vahz returns. When Dr.Vahz does come back the action is paused and the cutscene switches between each hero in the team and plays their battlecry automatically....come on, that'd be kinda cool.

There isn't enough carrot dangling content, the gaps between memorable moments in CoX are too far apart. Every AV showdown or storyarc ender needs it's own unique map IMO. If you can do that, I can put up with the crappy repeating tilesets because I know I'm going to be rewarded with something way cool.

I voted for the mobs. The storylines are good when I'm working through my own toons - but most times I'm getting bits and pieces by teaming with other folks. I get a better impression of the game by the foes I fight. I want more foes though - not less or status quo. And that's what got my vote.

I want more foes.

I'm here because it's the only superhero MMO in town, and there is (so far) no "loot" until level 47, leaving me free to just do things for the sake of fun. And by "things", I mean experiencing PvE combat with different ATs and powersets, none of which were on the list.

So, I chose costumes, since it was in a close tie for me with "storyline" out of things that actually were on the list, and I don't like the Phalanx/Arachnos centric direction that the storyline has taken since CoV, leaving our characters as bit players in the world.

It was a toss-up between story and costumes, but I eventually ended up with costumes, as I can get a great story from a book, but that book's sure as hell not going to have a costume creator!

What I like most about this game, is character customization. From the costumes to choices of powers, choosing slots, and being able to come up with my own background for the character.

Although I voted costumes, it's not just that, it's the whole character creation and development part of the game I like the most.

But of course, I like everything listed on the poll about this game.

I love the story personally. I eagerly read through everything that is added. I've completed almost every single arc in CoH, save maybe one or two, and love them. Though I will admit, if it weren't for Red Tomax, I would have missed out on a ton with Task Forces (bring back TF souveniers!).

The costumes are a huge part of what keeps me here as well. It's like playing with Barbies/Paper dolls all over again for me. Combat and soloability are biggies as well.

But the biggest thing that keeps me here and isn't on that list...

THE COMMUNITY

If it weren't for the wonderful people here, I don't know that I would have stuck around as long as I have. Yes, there are idiots, but the good people here make things so much fun.

Gee, I guess I'd have to vote for PvE.

Oh, wait, that's not an option.

[/ QUOTE ]

It seems highly likely that they left PvE off because they already know that PvE is going to be a focus going forward, they're just looking for info on where else to look.

The storyline I like the most. Followed by the environment (city zones, hazard zones etc - which isn't listed unfortunately).

I put down storylines, but thats not really accurate. What I love, Is the ability to create totally unique concepts for characters and make them live. For example, when i made a thugs mastermind, I spent half my time running around mercy, showin punkass skulls and pigs whos turf this really is! And Ive been chomping at the bit to play my new sr/ma mutant scrapper jesus freak. he is from an ultrachristian family, then mutated purple skin and huge clawed feet.

But I like new settings to play these characters in, thus he stpryline response.

Jay Doherty: Yes, there was this one night that I was ready to go home but had to drop the browns off at the super bowl before I left for home. While on the throne it hit me. I stayed for a few more hours and that why we have the pain pads in the game.

The question is rather specific: What do you like most?

My answer, as is MANY others', fails to be on the list. If your supposition is accurate, then they should have just come out and stated that.

Tough choice simply because none of these items would be in the top 5 things I like about the game. What about powers, AT's, soloability, missions, TF's, etc.? I hope a poll like this isn't used to present a skewed conclusion about what the playerbase likes most about the game.

50 Fire/Dev | 50 AR/Dev | 50 Ninjas/FF MM | 50 Bots/Dark | 50 Kin/Rad |
44 EM/Regen | 39 BS/Regen | 38 Kin/Elec | 27 Thugs/Pain

Costumes for me; Storylines are second place, and Badges third.

I put Story in second place only beause, as a veteran RPGamer, I can make my OWN stories - and COX at least doesn't actively "get in the way" of that.

I put Badges in third becausae I just like collectible stuff - but if that was ALL the game was about, I'd think it sucked, so ... ^_^

...

But the Costume editor here is VASTLY superior to anything you can get ANYwhere else - no exceptions!

I think the survey is flawed. PvE should have been an option. the closest answer to it would be specific mobs. Man i hate that term "mobs" and why are highest two choices over 200 percent? what kind of percentage breakdown is that?

Posted

Pretty much everything on the poll but I picked costumes. I just love having so many options. The possibilities are almost endless (more options are always welcomed )

None of the above?

The feeling that I'm "playing through a comic book". Story line, costumes, bases, all contribute. PvP is sort of also-neat-but-separate, since the PvP is less about immersion and more about competition, for me. It's more like a mini-game within the game than part of the game.

Costumes are great but I made my choice w/ mob groups. Love the Malta Group. Gunslingers are great looking characters and they give hope to all those players who wish for pistol-wielding heroes!

Posted

I'm the one guy that voted for bases. Probaly cause I'm the only base arcitect for our SG/VG.

Costumes come in second.

Posted

Had to go with costumes since you didn't put POWERS in the list. Costumes are the closest to saying overal graphics and power effects.

Everything I see on the screen makes me feel....super.

A lot of choices there...I would have said badges (my main has 344 on Freedom); however, there wouldn't be any badges without a storyline.

I tend to write a lot of fiction based upon my heroes and my supergroup in general. I'm a one-man supergroup with 21 different toons in it (yes, I have a lvl 50....three of them, in fact) and their storylines all intertwine with each other and with a lot of the signature heroes, too.

So, without feeling like I'm in a "living comic book", then nothing else matters.

The costumes were what drew me into the game, and it's what has the most lasting appeal. A friend demoed the costume editor to me, and I was stuck.

The storyline would be a contender, if it wasn't so <mild expletetive> hard to follow when grouping - the clues are hidden away in submenus and popups, and only the mission owner can see what the contact says in conclusion when you return after each mission. I wish there was a simpler solution (e.g. a "story" chat channel like the "combat" one) for following the storyline.

Playing with the base editor is great fun - I could spend hours and hours with it (fortune has it that I'm the architect in one of the SGs I'm a member of). Pity there is almost no reason for the SG members to use that base...

Storylines for me. I only wish my 50 warshade had more to do. I've done everything. There isn't anything left but the influence badges. The current storylines are incredibly wonderful! I love them dearly, but as a 50 they go pretty fast unless you have flight or teleport for the firebase zulu. I don't understand how people like NOIS have more then 3000 hours on his scrapper.

- It's a superhero game
- The combat engine
- The ability to solo when I want
- The costume creator hey that's on the list! I can stop here.

Took the words right out of my mouth. To me no game allows me to kick as much butt in such a short period of time, while looking awesome doing so. That's why I still play this game. I have no idea what I9 will bring, but Posi's got me jonesin' for whatever it is!

Costumes...it would be the storyline but that needs something to make it more immersive.
