  1. So, where will your hero and/or villain be in the final moments?

I have a solo SG by the name of "US Federal Bureau of Superheroes" with, obviously, a red, white and blue theme. They are all currently parked in front of the flag on the top of Atlas City Hall.

My main character, US Customs Inspector (yes, my Invul/EM/Awesome tank), will be hanging out with Blue Steel in Kings Row. He'll be standing side by side with what I think to be one of Paragon City's greatest heroes when the darkness comes.
  2. We all had great times, Kinji. This game, especially Freedom server, has a fantastic community.

I do remember quitting some teams over the years, but that minority is so small I doubt I could assign a percentage to it.

Let's just hope that this isn't over yet.
  3. It's all your fault.

Once you got the "Avoids the Green Stuff" badge, they decided that there was nothing left they could challenge you with so they decided to shut the game down.

    Just kidding.

    Just as an FYI...

I'm on "The Secret World" Arcadia server as "Solostaran" (Templar)

"Star Wars: The Old Republic" Jedi Covenant server as "AgentBorne" (Jedi Consular)

"Champions Online" as "US Customs Inspector"

Let me know where you're going to be at and we'll team up.
  4. I have never written a letter before as a consumer trying to appeal to any type of commercial entity; however, I was moved to write one in an effort to make my voice heard. We are all upset with the closure of the game we all love and I urge you to write your own letter.

    Here is mine...

RE: Termination of “City of Heroes”

    Dear Mr. Kim,

My name is Rob and I am a seven-year veteran of the online MMO “City of Heroes”. I was shocked and dismayed by the sudden announcement on August 31st that the NCSoft Corporation is going to terminate operations at Paragon Studios in a realignment of your company. I cannot more strongly urge you and your staff to reconsider this decision.

When I first heard of “City of Heroes” through some friends, I resisted their repeated attempts to get me to purchase the game. I had felt that once I purchased a video game, I shouldn’t have to continue paying for the game over and over on a monthly basis. I finally relented and I couldn’t be more pleased to say that I purchased an additional copy because one just wasn’t enough.

I remember with vivid clarity the first time I logged into the game and created my character. I had so much fun using the character creation tool that I almost forgot there was a game to play. It was when I clicked that little button that transferred my new hero into the game, being greeted with beautiful (and heroic sounding) French horns, that I knew my life was going to change.

Over the years, I’ve created a group of heroes that have become as real to me as could possibly be. They managed to spark my imagination, creating a vivid movie filled with action, romance, suspense and drama that plays in my mind as I play the game. I have even spent countless hours writing background profiles of each of my super heroes to bring more life to their digital adventures.

This game has not only helped me evolve on a personal level, it has also helped me socially. I’ve made friends all over the country and have even met a few in real life, connections that would not have been made had it not been for this game. We’ve laughed, we’ve cried, we’ve shared and we’ve even lost. “City of Heroes” has affected my life in so many positive ways and for that, I thank NCSoft but most especially the beautiful minds at Paragon Studios.

“City of Heroes” has gained an extremely loyal fan base, mostly for the same reasons that I’ve outlined above. We came to this game expecting action and adventure playing the part of a super hero. What we didn’t expect was to find a family.

Mr. Kim, please be our super hero. Please rescind your decision to close Paragon Studios and keep “City of Heroes” alive.

    Sincerely,

    Rob
  5. The one thing I hope against hope for with the sunsetting of this game is that some how, some way, the player's data is saved some where.

This way, should some entity come along and wish to develop a sequel to this game, we would be able to revive our characters from stasis.

Don't know if that would really happen or not but it would be nice. It would be a great way to "salvage" the 10,800+ hours over the course of almost eight years I've spent playing this game.

Before you Google that, it comes to roughly 15 months of playing the game non-stop.
  6. The only MMO I've ever played (besides beta testing) was "City of Heroes" but unless some miracle happens over the next couple of months, I need to find a new home.

It looks like it's going to take some getting used to but I'm really enjoying the two new games I've bought over the weekend, "Star Wars: The Old Republic" and "The Secret World".

For "The Secret World", I'm on the Arcadia server with the player name "Solostaran", who is of the Templar faction and I may create one for the Illuminati.

For "ST:TOR", I'm on the Jedi Covenant server with two characters, "Drakkulor", a Sith Inquisitor and "AgentBorne", a Jedi Consular.

Hit me up if you play either game.
  7. As I sit here typing this, I can't help but feel anything but betrayed by NCSoft. Over the past year, this game as taken great strides in offering new content, developing storylines and offering nothing but a promising future.

Sorry, but I was going to make an epic post here but I find that I am a little too emotionally upset to think straight.

Until they flick the switch, you will find me patrolling the streets of Paragon City, fighting crime and upholding justice.

To the friends I've made in this game, hopefully we can meet again in another digital world of wonder.

    Rob
  8. Any chances for the development of a water and/or earth based blaster set? I know you won't talk about upcoming changes, but it's just a thought.
  9. I can be there with whatever AT you need...just as long as this mickey wears off before then.

Going to make an alt build with the leadership pools right now and build a new Interface this afternoon (currently have Diamagnetic Core Flawless). Will have requirements completed by GO time.

    Thanks.

EDIT: Got Degenerative for my Interface now. Working on seers.

EDIT II: Now I've got my T4 Seers crafted. With my secondary build that has all three of the Leadership pool's toggles, Degenerative for my Interface, Rebirth for Destiny, Support for Hybrid, and about 20-some Ultimate inspirations waiting in my e-mail inbox, I'm ready to go.

    T4 Support
  12. Please sign me up for any and all of them...I'll be bringing my Invul/EM tank so pop me in where you think I would do the most good.

    Thanks and see you there.

EDIT: Oh, I forgot. I've got Cims or Warworks for Lore, Rebirth for Destiny, and either Support or Assault for Hybrid.

EDIT II: My global is @US Customs Inspector
  13. I would love to join, but my father is ill and I'm heading home tomorrow to see him for the rest of the week.

Perhaps next week I'll be ready for this.

In my opinion, it was one of the easier badges to get. Here's my ranking on difficulty...

Shadow Master (easiest one...but contingent upon the next badge)
Enemy of the State (just completing it)
Triple Threat (easy to do when you don't have 10 people shouting out opposing instructions)
Ready to Rumble (I was on a team heavy with control and DPS, and we had to totally plow through everything to get to her. We defeated her with 20 seconds to spare.)
The Hard Way (when combined with the above gives you the MoMag badge)
    The Really Hard Way

I've been on two successful trials and four failed trials. All in all, it's not my favorite.
  15. Yeah, I'm interested in a MoMag. Got all of them except for "The Hard Way" and "The Really Hard Way". The second badge I'm not too worried about as Posi has said that this badge will get easier as more incarnates are unlocked.

I have RL obligations this weekend, but I'll be up for it when I get back. Just let me know.

  16. Does anyone else experience this? Every day when I open Firefox to check out the CoH forums, I have to log in every single time if I want to post.

    Anyone else have this problem?

Many thanks goes out to Amygdala for her awesome leadership abilities and to the professional players on Champion server.

You know...I am considering making Champion my home server for my badge hound...
  18. I'll be there. Save a spot for me.

    MoTPN - June 2nd

I'll be there with my tank!
  20. The only two that I have left is "Fair and Balanced" from the TPN iTrial and "A Perfect Storm" from MoM iTrial.
  21. I would like to tell the Champion server something they already know...Amygdala is one of the most awesome players you have.

For six months now, I have been on one failed MoKeyes attempt after another, either from someone who didn't know how to follow directions (after being informed that this is a badge attempt) or purposely grieved our attempt. Six months.

For six LONG months, the "Loves a Challenge" and "Avoids the Green Stuff" badges eluded my badge collecting hero. My pride felt naked in the company of those that have earned the honor of "Master of Keyes Task Force". In public, I endured the taunts with brave humility but in private, my composure crumbled.

However, last night I was fortunate enough to have been included on a MoKeyes attempt hosted by Amygdala. I was as nervous as a level 1 hero joining in their first battle. I forced myself to remain calm, cool, and professional.

One run, folks. One run was all it took to get those two elusive badges. One freakin' run and six months worth of effort was accomplished.

To Amygdala, I salute you as one of this game's worthy heroes.

Now...on to "Fair and Balanced" and "A Perfect Storm"...
  22. I'll be there with my tank. I've already sent you a PM on the matter.

    MoKeyes

I still need these on my main badger, also, Carnada.

I posted on another forum an offer for someone to assist me in getting those badges. I did not receive any bites so I'll post it here.

If you put together a league that gets me the "Loves a Challenge" badge, I'll pay you 2 billion influence.

If you put together a league that gets me the "Avoids the Green Stuff" badge, I'll pay you 2 billion.

If you put together a league that gets me both badges (not necessarily on the same run but the same night), I'll pay you 5 billion influence.

I also have two other badges I need..."Fair and Balanced" from the TPN and "A Perfect Storm" from MoM. I'm offering 2 billion per badge on those, too.

Why? I have a new career in which requires me to travel one or two weeks per month, in addition to some fraternal and charity work that I do in my spare time. Even though I pay for two accounts, my online gaming time amounts to less than five hours per month. At this time, I simply do not have the time to invest in tracking down other reliable players to get these badges.

I'll transfer my badger to any server to get this accomplished. The only requirement is that my friends Carnada and Atomic Saint are in on the run, if they are available.

Send me a PM if you are serious and wish to claim the bounty on those two, or all four for that matter, badges.

    Thanks,

    Rob
