I will try to be there. I was a bit surprised by this trial going live this soon, so I am trying to quickly adjust my schedule to allow me to be online.

I should be around - we are usually finishing up on Pinnacle about that time.

Save me a slot - I'll run w/Mr E-Man Inv/SS Tank unless you need more support.

I'm happy to share newsblitzing for your runs and mine (hardly "mine" anyway, all I'm doing is sounding the call). No reason for them to be exclusive, and if it meets everyone's scheduling needs, all the better.

First attempt completely *****'d thanks to a buggy queue. I had to AFK after an hour to take care of MiniTurg, and THEN the queue frees up, so I hop in 3/4 of the way thru the Tyrant fight...

We're trying again tomorrow, same time. In fact, just bank on it until we get it.

Thanks tonight for the runs which unlocked Hybrid! I'll see about getting it slotted for the next badge run.

FYI, found some information about the iTrial at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7Bdi9Zn_qKE
Timestamp 16:00 - 19:00

Q: Is Tyrant meant to be deadly?

A: Here's how the [lightning] power works. Tyrant uses a PBAoE, similar to Nova or Footstomp. It's on a 35 second cooldown. It hits everyone within 150 feet. If it hits you, one second after it hits you it's going to drop an invisible pet at your feet. This pet will be pulsing an attack in a column; the lightning that you see come down.

So here's the basic deal: If you are just standing in one pillar, you can stand in it for 10 ticks until you die. (I think it's 10, it might be 12.) If you're standing in 10 pillars, or 12 pillars, you can stand in it for 1 tick until you die. The attack will come every 35 seconds, almost without fail.

So here's what you want to do: You want to get your lead to say, "Alright, it's been about a little while since the last lightning... let's jump out for a couple seconds from the lightning, then run back in." That's the easiest way to avoid the problem.

I think what you are explaining, is that you are getting hit by other people's lightning at the same time. Essentially if you have a giant clump of people and you all stand still, yeah, it's gonna hurt. But if you don't...

It's pretty easy to plan around and mitigate. You have to engineer a situation where you are not getting hit by this giant lightning from the sky. Or at least not getting hit repeatedly.

((There's more that repeats the above.))

If more tips surface while I watch the recording, I'll post up notes.

I noticed something during our attempt tonight. I started monitoring my level shift since it changes so often during the trial. I noticed that all pets and pseudo pets were getting whatever level shift I had at the time they were summoned. and they would keep it even after I lost it. In fact, the pets kept the level shift all the way until either they or I got killed.

So I think if we can get everyone on the team to monitor their own level shift and then save their pets until they get +9, that will make a huge difference.

Seriously - imagine a league full of +9 lore pets all going after tyrant at the same time.

A couple more notes from http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7Bdi9Zn_qKE

Timestamp 51:50 - 52:40

Q: Why does Tyrant become so hard at about 20% health?

A: Basically we want that last push to really be a push. We wanted you to really pour on the DPS for those last seconds.

Timestamp 1:05:20 - 1:08:50

Q: Do you require specific AT to succeed at [The Hard Way and The Really Hard Way] iTrial badges?

((shortened)) A: You shouldn't. We know the players are much better at the game than we are.

Players might be able to get it as they are with the inspirations and buffs currently in-game. But the intent is to want it and recognize [as you slot more of the Incarnate tree] that you are getting stronger and able to do it.

It turns out I may be wrong about the pet level shifts. I was on one trial earlier tonight and was paying close attention to both my own level and my pets levels. I noticed that they were always in sync. It was a small league though.

That makes me wonder - maybe the trial is shifting a certain number of objects, and not necessarily players. If, say, the 16 closest objects to Tyrant get the level shift, and if pets count for that, then it would explain why so many people are missing the expected level shifts. And it would also explain why I saw my pets shifted to a higher level than myself a couple nights ago.

Maybe the devs will comment on this soon, since from looking at other threads on the subject, it seems that the level shift, or lack thereof, is the current biggest problem with the trial.

I have seen all sorts of things that could cause the level shift. At first I was thinking it was whoever was destroying the well of lights, but that seemed random as well. On Friday my wife and me were both on camping light duty, and both were level shifted to +9 at one point. I know she was using fulcrum and transference a bit when she could, and I was on my brute so used a few ranged attacks when I could.

I noticed other light campers did not get the big shift so don't know if they did anything else. On other runs I was in the thick of it and had mixed results on the level shift.

The strange thing is the only time we succeed was the first try we didn't have that much organization going. On that run we had the lights down in a decent time but no dedicated campers. I know I was destroying the lights then jumping back in, so I may have been shifted high as others would have been to do better damage.

The other runs we had dedicated light campers and had them down in seconds but we always stalled on getting him down.
