Quote:This. So very, very much this.Let me explain something. Every aspect of everything in existence has people who don't like it.
Also, your reference to "the paying subscribers" is quite arrogant. Do not presume to speak for all the subscribers.
Of course, if this guy was so up-in-arms over the problem, he'd take his own message to heart and vote with his wallet. -
Quote:Welcome to my world.
Travel Powers have been ganked since Issue 4. Instead of actually returning them to the status that made them "super", an additional power was stapled onto each pool. Those who have played this game since 2004 haave found these "bonus" powers to be almost absurdly useless.
I sincerely wish you better luck in your request than I have had in mine.
The Devs and a few of their more vocal catspaws have, for all these years - and frequently - simply dismissed the issue with the now legendary brush-off by the now-long-gone CupppaJo's insulting statement that "it [travel power suppression] works the way the Devs want it to, and there are no plans to change it."
Never mind what the paying subscribers wanted, MANY of whom voted with their feet and left the game; as long as the Devs were happy, who cares about what the sheep wanted? It was only our money.
But hey, after 6 years, maybe someone will care enough to spend a couple of days' worth of coding to track down a bugged mission location people have been reporting for over half a DECADE.
It could happen...
Wow, hold a grudge much? -
Goob, this sounds like EXACTLY my problem, only I don't think I will be able to re-install windows as I don't have a copy of Windows to re-install.
-
Unfortunately, reinstalling Windows is not an option.
-
3 days ago I was running the game at 1600x900 with all settings maxed with no lag with the 430. Now I can't. Nothing changed on my end.
-
I've already uninstalled, cleaned and re-installed a few times now, but I suppose another go 'round won't hurt.
-
Ok, here is the Helper run as administrator.

Is it possible that this issue is a resolution issue?
-
It looks like that test was run under Safe Mode.
Does that matter? -
Here ya go, Mr TJ:

197.45 drivers are not compatible with a GT 430 according to Nvidia.
-
So, yeah. Now the game stops responding even in Safe Mode.
-
While in Safe Mode, the graphics are already set to a reduced rate. They cannot be reduced any further than they already are; however, since those settings cannot be altered, when switching back to non-Safe Mode, the settings revert to where they already were.
Meaning, no change can be affected by me.
See the dilemma? -
Ok, so, I launched in Safe Mode and everything worked fine. I could open and close contact windows, open and close my settings boxes, etc.
When I started in regular mode, and went to drop my settings down out of the advanced, the game stopped responding.
So, I ask: how am I going to get my settings reduced when the game freezes up when I try to lower the settings? -
I'm actually using a GT 430 now, but I am going to try rolling back to a slightly older driver that I've seen people mentioning. Also, I'm going to attempt lowering the water.
-
I think I've read something about this, but now I can't find it.
The game freezes up every time I open the contact window. -
So, yeah. I removed the game and went to re-install. I've been sitting at 96% of Stage 2 for a day now.
Have I done something incorrectly? Is there anything I can do to speed this process up? Is it supposed to take this long?
I don't remember it being this way when I originally installed when I21 released. -
Well damn. Yeah, I still have the old card.
No worries, though. It was a gift and I have the receipt. I'll return it and pick up something MUCH higher on the list. -
The game stops responding at varying intervals. Sometimes immediately, other times when I open a contact box, still other times just when I am moving around the game.
I started in Safe Mode with everything as minimal as possible, again the game stopped responding.
I run fullscreen.
