This. The announcement seems absurd at this point. Just earlier today the Facebook page featured new promo shots for the Tech Knight costume pieces. All this came down in a few hours?

Quote:This has perma fastsnipe? I thought the threshold was 22% +tohit? This is slightly under...With the use of Agility Incarnate your S/L capped and .3 shy of Range defense cap (44.7) I guess you could use enhancement boosters to try to cap it out.
It also incorporates the changes in i24 with Perma snipe and Crashless nukes.

/Cold. I guess they're arguably fairly even against a single target, but those single targets are often surrounded by hoards of enemies or calling hoards of enemies to attack you from behind, in which case Cold's AoE debuffs and mitigation bring it way out on top.
-
I don't mean to derail the thread, but I've been really looking forward to playing EA for the first time since it got buffed, now that I can pair it with Staff. I've been wondering, though, does Entropic Aura have a taunt component? Because I'm debating between Scrapper and Brute and this is what it comes down to...
Thanks in advance. -
Hasten is perma with only 2 rech. The Kismet unique seems like a total waste when you have 51% +acc in bonuses and 22% +tohit from Farsight. You could move those slots to TJ and throw in 4 Dark Watcher's for some HP, recov, and rech. Or drop Grant Invis for Maneuvers and put them there and have much more wiggle room on defense.

I still think Null the Gull is the best option.
"Change all my knockBACK powers to do knockDOWN instead (note this will not affect powers that have the primary function of knocking back, such as Force Bolt, Power Push, ect"
People that want to play Energy but hate the knockback win, people that play Energy and love the knockback aren't affected.
Really, it's sad that perhaps the most iconic blaster set gets ignored by the majority of the playerbase because of something as silly as knockback. This change would do wonders for opening up the ranged blast sets a bit instead of being Fire... and all those others. -
If I make one, it will likely be /rad. Been thinking about /sonic as well.
I played it with Time in beta and hated the combo. Basically, when you're trying to keep what you're shooting at Disintegrated, it really sucks to suddenly have to switch to doing something in your secondary.
I think dropping rad toggles -> blasting away would fit it best.
Though honestly, I need to see it in action a little more. My feeling in beta was that the highly touted single target damage wasn't even as good as Fire or Sonic, and if that's the case, I'm not going to bother. -
Quote:What is there to worry about? If you aren't using Aim before your most important debuff then you're doing it wrong anyway. You don't need to worry about using Aim if Benumb has enough accuracy to begin with.
I consider not having accuracy in an important power a flaw. ;-)
I consider wasting a slot a flaw ;-) -
The correct answer is Fire/Cold corruptor.
Bots/Traps isn't a bad answer, but tell me, aren't there instances when MM pets just don't really work? MM is the only AT I've never spent significant time on because I find them exceptionally boring, so I can't say whether it's an AT flaw or just user flaw that I often witness. How are MMs during Lambda (pretty much all phases)? Last mission of Apex? Stuff like that where you're forced to play "fast and loose."
Because if there are scenarios where you can't bring your damage to the party, then it isn't a very well-rounded toon imo. -
I've battled with people on there before about this, but I'll say again that it's completely fine to skip the ACC in Benumb as long as you make sure to use Aim first.
-
If you're going to solo UP TO 50, I'd go definitely go /rad. If you're going to get the toon lvl'd to 35+ before you really dig into it, I would go /cold. /Cold is just so powerful late game and with IOs, and considering you won't be taking Hasten, you could probably fit Aid Self in there pretty easily and make it an even better solo'er.
Sleet + Ice Storm + Heat Loss + Blizzard can't be replicated by rad, and it's rather beautiful. -
If you don't want to go fire (why wouldn't you?) rad blast works fairly well. You can just stand in the middle of the fight and spam Irradiate and Neutron Bomb, each slotted with Achilles Heal procs (plus one in Slowed Response).
It melts minions and lieuts away pretty damn fast, but you'll be extremely jealous of Fire's single target damage. -
I find this argument rather amusing considering I've felt tankers are one of the more useless ATs for a while now. A properly built brute (as well as some scrappers) can tank anything in the game and deal far more damage while doing it. At the current state, the game is too easy for Tanks to be necessary.
-
Tar Patch is the same for defenders and corruptors. That plus how beautifully RoF leverages scourge, and it's Fire/Dark by a mile, imo.

Quote:The RSF can be difficult if you don't have enough team survivability. And a standard +3 AV isn't really about DPS, at this stage of the game it's really about burst damage. You need to kill them before they kill you.Rsf isn't difficult though. It's "gimmick" is to stand there and dps all the heroes into dust.
Perhaps you have to consider the RSF before everyone got so OP with Incarnate powers. The point it, it's more fun to jump into a massive horde of dangerous enemies and duke it out than it is to dodge difficult-to-see reticles on the ground while keeping track of 15 other things, some of which you're not even sure of its purpose. -
BAF and Lam are too easy, and while Keyes also isn't that hard once you learn, I think it's too hard because of the learning curve.
I guess what mean regarding Keyes is that people don't want to do it not because it's HARD, but because it's confusing. Making something hard by making it too convoluted isn't the way to go, imo.
I want trials to be difficult much in the way that the LRSF is difficult. You're not faced with gimmicks, you're faced with something extremely daunting to match head-to-head with. I want an AV to be standing there and then all of a sudden summon 50 bosses right on top you. THAT type of encounter is fun and challenging imo, not dragging Positron around to 20 different blinkies while keeping track of 5 other objectives and obstacles. -
1. Corruptors. How people can say these things are half-rate defenders + half rate blasters is beyond me. Many corruptors blow Blasters out of the water in damage while providing buffs and debuffs that are often, in effect, equal to defenders (ie: damage cap is damage cap for a kin, sleet/tar patch/freezing rain are the SAME as defenders, etc)
Can't profess my love for them enough, they're the perfect AT.
2. Brutes. Steam roll solo style, me likey.
3. Scrappers. Same as brute with less flair.
4. Controllers. Similar to my favorite AT, the Corruptor, but sub some damage for control. Still a pretty fun play, though I usually just give up and roll a corr and burn things to the ground.
5. Dominators. Lack of AoE damage takes them from competing with corrs all the way to 5th for me.
6. Everything else. MMs are boring. Tanks have become more or less useless if you know how to build and handle a toon. Blasters are crap. Defenders don't have anything to lure me from corruptors. Stalkers... have issues. PBs are crap.
*Warshades. I've never actually committed to playing a Warshade. In theory they could be fun, I just haven't done it yet. Something about them just doesn't excite me though. -
Quote:I'm thinking of skipping it.I may be the only one considering skipping Temporal Selection >_>
A) Too many damn powers that need taking.
B) Too many damn powers to click.
C) The buff isn't that great. If 50% +rech from my Chrono Shift doesn't put into the stratosphere of +rech then, uh, screw you.
D) The +dmg isn't that great, and the added healing isn't that great.
Basically, combine that "meh" factor with the fact that I don't want to have one more power to monitor and it's a pretty unappealing selection for me. Since I'll be leveling this toon the old fashioned way when I21 hits, I'll probably take it and respec it out later. -
Quote:This, IMO, there's Fire/TM corruptors, and then everything else. The slows from TM will let you leverage that oh so delicious corruptor rain of fire to perfection.This. So, Fire Blast. Defenders will be getting Fire Blast too, but aside from Corrs doing more damage overall, Rain of Fire does double Scourge damage.
A less scourgey set is more of a toss up between defender and corruptor because defenders' builds aren't as tight and they get stronger -res to close the damage gap. -
They both pull more than their weight in "steamrolling" through mobs. Kin does it faster (usually) and cold does is more reliably (by keeping the team safe and being better against singular hard targets).
I think that's as succinctly as I can put it. -
Quote:Lancer Shot is easily Beam's best attack. It's Blaze with a stun.i usually did fine skipping the tier 2 attack, the tier 1 attack is fast charging and does -regen on disintegrated targets
the other power i could get away with underslotting would be lancer shot (the stun), i would mostly use that since it has a 100% chance of spreading disintegration but its fairly low dmg and very short range would not be something i would use often -
Quote:Well, the thing is, TM is so easy to turn into a tank mage that unless you're really trying to budget your toon, there's really no reason NOT to perma Chrono Shift. You can soft cap S/L/E with almost no IO slotting. And while YOU may or may not benefit a ton from perma Chronoshift, like you mention, certain teammates surely can.
I've been thinking about Chronoshift and whether it's worth trying to get permanent. The upside is that if you take Hasten it's very easy to perma them both. The other side is I'm not sure if it's worth it. Outside of Chronoshift Time doesn't have any really long recharge powers. Farsight is perma on SOs and even a moderate amount of recharge could get Slowed Response up every spawn. I'm not saying it's a bad idea to try and get it permanent but I don't think TM itself derives a lot of benefit from doing so so it really comes down to your other powerset.
Considering how easy it would seem TM is to build, I'm thinking of prioritizing +dmg much more than I would on any other character (as a corruptor, of course) -
Anythingexceptfire/Devices Blaster (even with Fire a /devices sucks pretty hard)
/FF Controllers suck quite a bit.
And while most Corruptors and Blasters can be made to do something fairly well, most non-fire blast and non-sonic blast toons suck comparatively (sonic blast toons generally suck compared to fire as well, but at least they adequately serve a particular purpose.) It is my feeling that pretty much every blast set needs a buff or rework. They're pretty terribly balanced. -
Quote:I've got a character on Freedom that just needs Bunker Buster, but I'll help out with all of them.Time waits on no one.
I'm up for it again. I'll send out feelers to the team and see who's willing to run again.
I ran with Yat Man and some others through quite a few runs a while back, but missed out on the one.
