Is /EA just the worst idea ever or ??

I made a scrapper Spines/EA and tho he is only level 10 he feels extremely weak.. low defense with low resistance and low hp == epic fail ? Or does it get better at some point? because right now I'm considering to reroll a stalker for the increased DPS.. Also because the crit on scrappers is actually pretty aweful

At level 10? You are weak? Well damn, did you consider maybe..hitting 11?

Sarcasm aside, EA is a seriously great set now. It takes awhile to get all its tools, the heal at 28, drain at 35, but once you do..it rocks. OL will cap your hp to, not bad for a scrapper. And quills with go with the -rech in entropic aura..lets incoming hits.

Also, if you are fighting lots of cot and vahz at that lvl, they will REALLY hurt an EA. Give it a chance.

This describes every scrapper at level 10. It's not an EA problem, it's just the problem of being low level.

Once you actually have the powers and can slot them, not to mention set bonuses and etc, it is a truly excellent set.

If you look through a few pages you will find an argument were several of us believe that it is one of the best scrapper sets. Like all +def sets it blooms late though.

You are too low to really experience the set. You got to keep going to really appreciate EA.
EA is a great set now.

Well, there's your problem.

If you still don't like it at level 35, maybe you're on to something.

Gonna be the negative nancy and chime in that my own recent experience with /EA is abysmal. I rolled a STJ/ Scrapper and decided to try /EA since I haven't played it since beta. It's been nothing but a pain since the start. Sitting at 25 now and even soloing missions seems far too difficult. My difficulty is still +0/x1 -.- Really thinking about rerolling because the damage doesn't seem bad but it's like shields are turned off and I'm constantly starving for end.

The Spines/Ice Stalker I made, however, is destroying everything. The only time I have a bit of trouble is against E/N damage since I'm only 26 and haven't gotten the shield yet.

Both characters have a full set of ATO's, Perf +10 end and the steadfast def.

EA ROCKS THE HOUSE!. Post your build and let the mates help you because something does not sound right.

The development team and this community deserved better than this from NC Soft. Best wishes on your search.

That sounds very unusual, considering that my current main is a TW/EA Brute and never had much trouble with End, despite TW being a gas guzzler. Are you slotting End Reduction in your attacks?

The culprit here is StJ/ I think, not /EA. Are your attacks well-slotted for end reduction? Are you regularly using your AoE Finisher(s) in ST chains? Either of those things can cause StJ toons to burn through their endurance like mad.

It's STJ burning through the endurance. At 25, you don't have access to /EA's end management tools yet. At 35, you'll get Energy Drain and before that, Energize at 28. Both should help with your endurance. And definitely get your attacks slotted with at least 33% end rdx if you haven't done so already.

/fixed :P

Just a nitpick, Energy Drain is at 35, not 26. Those 9 long levels with no end refill can be a long road. It's worth it though, /ea is a great set.

Really want to echo this. I have played /EA to 50 on three toons now and have had nothing but fun with it. Like any +def set it doesn't really bloom till in the 30's, but after that it is all gravy.

In the end game it is just a beast.

I have played it to 50 on Staff, TW, and STJ.

Stick with it and you will see some huge rewards.

Energy Aura is a top tier set. The OPs problem is that he isn't high enough. Once it comes into its own (around 30), I'm not sure what set could be said to be better. Shield is equal, but no heal.

The City of Heroes Community is a special one and I will always look fondly on my times arguing, discussing and playing with you all. Thanks and thanks to the developers for a special experience.

This was the position most of us took in the other thread.

I don't mean to derail the thread, but I've been really looking forward to playing EA for the first time since it got buffed, now that I can pair it with Staff. I've been wondering, though, does Entropic Aura have a taunt component? Because I'm debating between Scrapper and Brute and this is what it comes down to...

Thanks in advance.

Gee... Late Blooming Primary, Late Blooming Secondary, and still level 10... I think I may see your problem...

Seriously, the only real complaint I have with /EA any more is the lack of a 'No Fade or Pulse' option for Energy Cloak. Otherwise, the Dev's have finally tweaked this set into working.

I have a nice DB/EA planned which will be in a wonderful position to take advantage of the crit proc in the 2nd ATIO set should it stay at +50% crit

Oh it is there. A very Good friend of mine Fallenz may even chime in on it in a moment because he hates it so much. The taunt portion should be suppressed when energy cloak has you in stealth, but I have been told that is not working correctly.

Don't see how anyone can hate a taunt aura, it is the main reason I haven't been able to enjoy anything since I made my shield scrapper.

Ughh I gave up trying to explain. Just move on and enjoy Energy Aura.

edit btw here the taunt aura:

Entropic Aura

Entropy Shield diminishes and dampens the energy of controlling type effects. The shield makes you resistant to Knockback, Repel, Disorient, Hold, Sleep, Immobilization, and enemy Teleportation for as long as you can keep this toggle power active. Entropic Aura also grants you good resistance to Defense Debuffs as well as providing you a recharge bonus for each foe in melee, up to the first 10 foes. Foes that get close to the user will have their own recharge rate reduced and may be taunted.

Since it's a debuff, it taunts like RTTC.

My Mids is definitely showing a taunt effect on the scrapper version, between Sleep and -KUp in the Effects tab. It appears to have a shorter duration than the Brute version, but it's there.
