I'd like to know this too--my assumption was that you could drop a mission, which would just put it back on the menu, as it were. That once you dropped it, the game would just act as if you had never taken it. So, if it's in a story arc, then it would be there again until you did it.
Other folks seem to think that it means they can "skip" the mission--advance the story arc without doing the mission. This seems unlikely to me, but what do I know? It would be really nice if we could get a redname to answer this--although it also seems possible that they aren't answering because they haven't decided yet either.

Actually, UnicyclePeon, there is an easy fix to the whole PL problem that we have had several threads about. Just have everyone in a team lower than the active mission level SK'd directly to it (just like a PvP zone SK). Then, adjust the XP rate accordingly. Problem solved (if the tech can handle it).

For one, i dont want double exp all the time for average level difficulty enemies. It would just turn into double exp weekend all the time. No ty. And as for the teammates, ill consider it if you give me a couple thousand dollars for a new computer and internet so i could ACTUALLY do teams like that.

You know, I kinda wonder what kind of setup alot of you guys are running. I mean, the graphics in this game, especially on the COV side are pretty high-end. So if your trying to run this on an old celeron 1.0 ghz processor, and cheap integrated graphics, then you should expect lag.
I currently have a AMD Athlon 64 3500+ with 2 gigs of ram and a 7600GT graphics card and I have never had that much problems with lag. Sure, if I go into Atlas when it's really crowded, or in a Hami raid or something, I notice lag. But I am repeatedly seeing posts with people griping about lag on midsize to fullsize teams.
All I have to say, is before you blame the devs, take a look at your specs. It's more than likely because you are running on older computer.

I have little or no problems on Heroes in any zone but Atlas.
In villains I rubberband in most zones with constant low framerate and lag.
On 6-8 person teams on mission maps in Both CoH and CoV framerate sometimes is fine and others it gets so bad I can't reliably walk around a room much less be an effective combatant.
I don't really blame this on graphics performance issues only it seems to be much worse on a yellow load then a green one. The servers' abiities are also a question in my mind.
It's hard to tell which is the real culprit tho, afterall the server populations went up at the same time as the graphical upgrade. I personally blame the lag on the servers, not my PC.

If the "drop mission" code doesn't allow me to skip these missions and ditch outleveled arcs in their entirety, it's all but useless to me.
And, note that I'm not asking to get a single point of XP for missions I drop in this manner. All I want is to (1) never do an "introductory" mission for a zone I've already street-swept two dozen times with my alts, and (2) never have to spend hours clearing out ancient arcs for every contact that I've ever done a single mission for.
(You think I'm exaggerating about that last point? Schadenfraulein on Virtue had to clear nineteen outleveled arcs before any of her current contacts would offer her one. At least six of those were from contacts for whom she had done only one mission previously.)

This is not true. You can have as many story arcs open at once as you want now. I have had 3 open at once. You haven't had to finish one arc to get another for quite some time.

I don't know about that, a contact in Grandville recently refused to speak to me, then I cleaed an arc I had open and she was giving me missions again.

No idea what the devs have planned, but I just thought of a funky idea: Mission credits.
You get 1 each time you complete a mission, and each time you skip a mission you use up one. So in effect you have to do at least half of the missions in the game as for each one you skip, you have to of build up some credit first.
maybe even give a limit to the number you can stockpile too.
Oh, and make any badge/temp power mission unskippable, as I'd never want to skip them, perhaps warn you, some people are weird

Have you considered making dropped missions cycle back into the list of missions as long as it is not a story arc mission? That way in the future someone may be able to go back and redo a broken mission...pending they don't outlevel it.

What about the bug that unpredictably boots you from your base after going there for rezzing? The ying/yang is that you reappear on the map where you were defeated or just outside the door of the mission instance you were in, but still it's unpleasant.

there has to be a way to make hollows less annoying than it already is... unless there are more mish in atlas from levels 1-14 and up hollows entry to 14 at travel (or travel at 10)

My gut feel is that the Hollows won't get a hospital. Ever. Based on the current state of affairs, there isn't a hazard zone in the game that I'm aware of that has a hospital, and a "non-hazard" zone that doesn't have one. Admittedly, I've never had a toon make it way up to the end game, so that might break north of level 40.
However for all sub level 40 zones I think you'll find that to be the case. And since the Hollows is a hazard zone .....

I have to agree with CuppaSyniq, I think y'all are seriously overcomplicating the mission drop thing.
My bet is it will simply remove the mission from your que. If it's from a contact you haven't outleveled they will offer it to you again next time you talk to them. The only thing it'll really let you do is retry a bugged mission, and make room in your que for new missions. That's pretty much it.
Edit - Just to clarify, by 'bugged' I don't necessarily mean a mission that is broken. Sometimes missions just won't complete for some reason. Usually resetting the mission works, but if that's not an option being able to drop it and reaquire it would be usefull.

I asked about that in a petition over a month ago when the same thing happened to me. It got escalated until I got this reply, about 3 weeks later:

All I wanted to know was how LONG I had to wait after healing when fighting NPCs before this NPC damage would go away. And they couldn't answer. I assume you have to log out and back on before you can actually fight players now. And of course the forums don't have this info.

All well and good but hey, there's still a sound bug of sorts (esp on test right now). FPS for CoV is in the dumper despite what kind of system you run for many folks. There's a slew of issues that got slated as QOL issues that really need to be brought to the forefront and repaired. How about some fixes to some of the issues that linger from i2 or i3, etc.
How about a comment on why almost every patch breaks as many things as it fixes and how your QOL implimentation team will be resolving that with the Devs?
Sorry to be crass, but come on with all the bugs man. If it's not game breaking or fresh on the plate it doesn't get fixed. That's the "normal" lifecycle of MORPG's but then again, no others have interactive developers like this game has. Maybe CoX could be one of the 1st to break the mold.

I am still missing my "inactive" friends, and there has been no answer as to when anybody missing off anyone's list is fixed. Also if the inactive friends come back their globals are still being changed (which is part of the bug) AND Cricket mentioned that when this was fixed we would be getting global compensation - which we have not seen yet (no the double xp weekend was NOT global compensation that was "thanks for putting up with all our nifty other bugs compensation"). So I am still anxiously awaiting the compensation and the completion of the work on the global bug.

Finally we get to drop missions?
NEVER gonna do the "defeat X vahzilok in faultline" mission again.
I haven't done it in over a year already, I just go to a different contact when it's the only choice offered. Once upon a time, I had four out of five contacts offering ONLY that mission...so I went and did the Synapse TF twice to out-level those contacts.
Dropping it would be much preferable.
Also, along the same lines....anybody else suffering from a lack of contacts at level 27? My WS has only ONE regular contact available at this level. I can get new missions in Croatoa, Striga, and from the WS contact (forget her name) in GC... plus whoever my ONE regular contact is (can't remember her name right now either), but all my other contacts are outleveled and won't introduce me to anyone new....
Ah well, if there's an easy fix, could someone PM it to me? Thanks.
