You should get your reward token a month after the last time you got a token, at the end of your current month, barring any lapse in VIP time.)

"All up front" was planned for reward tokens (not for paragon points - they were ALWAYS going to award monthly), then scrapped because they couldn't get it working.
Ok that's odd then because my friend who used a time card got his points and token as soon as he put the card into the ncsoft website. well, not instantly but as soon as the site and coh synced of course, heh.
  2. I am currently having some issues with the paragon store. They are listed below. Is there someone specific I should be sending these to?

    The PROBLEMS:

    1. Can't buy Time Manipulation as a VIP. This prevents a vip from buying time manipulation in the case of wanting to go premium and still have access to the power set. This is also a problem with controller/mastermind/epic arch-types.
    2. While Powersets are locked out NONE of the stuff I've already bought IS! So I can re-buy something I've already bought.
    3. Things I bought before Freedom came into being also are buyable again like the magic pack which I own from buying the Magic Super Booster, including the powers, auras, costumes emotes etc...
    4. My Time card usage did not automatically add the paragon reward tokens nor the paragon points that I should have gotten right away like you do when you pay for x months up front with a credit card.

    Suggested Fixes:
    1. Allow purchase. State that the buyer has access to these automatically as a vip (it does say vip content to let you know you get these for free as a vip but could be said again before purchase to quell any complaints.
    2. Disable purchase of stuff you've already bought thats not a consumable. e.g. barbarian costume bundle etc...
    3. Check account badges and then do step 2 above.
    4. Fix this so that you get your points up front like other payment methods do.

Thanks! Abaddon is an exact match from what I see. Drakon looks like a modified version of abaddon.

Sexy lingerie? Wedding pack does it, along with a few other packs and costume options.
    Roman/Grecian stuff? Already have it.
Wedding outfits? See the wedding pack again.
Formal wear? Got that in various forms.

So what could we get for a Valentine's day themed bundle?
    Pshaw that's easy!

    Valentine's Bundle
    • New ugly faces (MFH) <snicker> with kissy/duck lips.
    • Cherub Aura (flappy cupids, light & heavy, light = 1 heavy = 3)
    • Heart Bow permanent power. Fires an arrow that explodes in hearts upon contact and confuses or placates an enemy.
    • Heart Choker (detail 2, none of this chest detail crap which interferes with other chest details)
    • Sexy Heart Pasties/bikini (chest detail) with and without aura
    • Lacy / Strappy boots (high heel and normal) think roman-esque.
    • Lacy / Strappy gloves to go with the boots (unlike the crap with barbarian which is missing gloves)
    • Heart Stream/Beam emote. Target someone and send a stream of hearts from you that swirls around them and then dissapates. Puts a debuff on target so they can't be the target of hearts emote for 1 min or so to prevent griefing...perhaps add null the gull option.
    • Carnie style Sash with colorable hearts. Can be used as a solid sash by choosing the same color for prime and secondary.
    Simple :P

Then posi should keep quiet on such things Also I see a huge amount of people in game refusing to spend money in the store due to these stupidly high prices. Back in the beta forum the outrage in the market thread on the current pricing, which we were told would change and has not, was amazing with almost everyone in the thread, outside of a very very few, agreeing that the prices were far too high.

Perhaps a section like we had in the beta forum showing people just how much a set like the magic pack or science pack costs in the store compared to the 10 bucks it used to be as an eye opener for people. They'll have to change their pants once they see what something like going rogue costs by buying all the stuff in bits, even with package deals.

Thank you for keeping this thread up. It is very useful as the market interface is very user unfriendly for trying to find stuff at times.

    Copy Tool Down?

then they need to fly a 'guy' out there or hire a temp comp/web guy to fix their crap. With the prices that ncsoft is charging in the store they can well afford to pay some guy 50 bucks an hour or whatever to fix their problems.

Few months before Free to pay went live the quality in many things has been going downhill and it's sad to see that happen.

Sadly it's a pretty crappy place for it and excludes it from working with other options.

I've been saying it for years and we need a neck detail in addition to detail 2 for faces. The ascot should have stayed in detail 2 or be duplicated into both places for maximum useability.

By the way what ever happened to positron stating that costume slots would cost 5 bucks instead of 10? they're still 10 bucks.
  10. Hi Milady's Knight,

I remember the help you've given me in the past. Thank you for replying to this thread. I usually don't like set mules either and remembered that about your other builds .

Could you also post the blapper build that we could use on a second build?

ClawsandEffect. Thanks for chiming in. I've groused at Salvorin for blasting foes all over the place as I usually play melee, otherwise i'm on my corruptor types So I've been helping him learn where to knock stuff and how to knock down instead of way back while grouped. Good points though and something to think about.

Ordius. Thanks for posting the build. It's always great to see what others are doing to help you figure what you can/want to do for your own builds. People have some great slotting tricks when slots are tight.

    Energy_Aura.
True AoE can be a problem I suppose if you don't build for more range as Milady did in the above build. How big are the aoe ranges on trials? They never seemed to be much of an issue for me unless I had to zip in for an pbaoe heal on a squishy.

EJI. I always have mids set for suppression and that above build should have it suppressed. I know it wasn't softcapped and hence my asking for help but it was/is pretty close at 41%ish Thanks for posting a build!

Anyone else have any insights they'd like to share?

Yeah better prices like what positron said for costume slots being 5 bucks instead of 10 bucks. Of course that hasn't happened yet.

  15. Hi there everyone!

My friend has started playing city of heroes as of a few months ago and asked for some help on his energy/energy blaster. Now I never really got into blasters as I enjoy more of a blast/support role and thus play corruptors at times.

Soo I attempted a build for him with a few things he wanted kept in mind and would really like some help on this build because I'm sure I've done a few things wrong and that the slotting could be better.

He is currently L26 and we'll be doing amerits for recipes as his funds are very limited

    His goals:

    • Hovering/Flying around and blasting from range with the ability to knock a foe down/away if they get close with melee.
    • Survivability by softcapping s/l and decent ranged defense.
    • No Endurance problems
    • A Heal if possible
Everything else is malleable. He likes the idea of a heal and an oh crap button (hibernate) and the small support with snow storm, though that too can be changed.

    Here is the build.

They have a .texture extension and must be placed in a specific over-ride directory structure. This directory structure has been included in the zip and it's a long one. Just unzip inside your city of heroes game directory and it will create a data directory and all other sub directories for you.

This will probably not affect your current game as it's using a hybrid UI subdirectory. It is intended for either the beta server or when CoHFreedom goes live. No files are actually changed on your computer and to remove you simply delete the directory tree that was created when you unzipped the file. Simple as that.

the above link will probably only last 30 days or so, so grab it while you can.
I've gotten a few PM's from people on wanting the login screen I made. As the developers changed the file name on lives launch the one I had created no longer works. The filename is embedded inside the .texture file and must match what the game expects to see there.

So here is a new version of the file all ready for people to use. ^_^ with a simple read me this time too hehehe.

Again this link may only last 30 days or so.

While the current crop of inf sinks (primarily the market fee) serve to keep "normal" inf gains reasonably in check they aren't really deflationary so the total amount of inf per player tends to remain the same or even increase a bit over time.

The AE then compounds this because it skews the supply of items available. AE is excellent at generating Rare Salvage and Bronze-roll recipes and is ok at generating Gold-roll recipes but doesn't generate any Purples at all. This means that prices on those items tend to go down (due to increased supply) while prices on Purples tend to go up (since fewer of them are being generated relative to the amount of inf entering the system).
I agree and this goes right back to my post on fixing the market. The market shouldn't have to depend on the AE to generate bronze/gold recipes and salvage, doing missions and normal game content should but it doesn't.

1: Remove AE buildings from Atlas and Mercy.
2: Force the tagging of 'story' or 'farm' for AE arcs to allow publish, and give the farm tagged arcs bonus rewards to incentivise farmers to be honest.

    Eco.
I think the best suggestion to limit new players to farming was the suggestion made to remove the AE from the starting zones, which you and others have said. Remove it from Mercy and Port Oakes and Atlas Park and Kings Row.

I doubt that the devs will admit to farm arcs by adding a farm style tag. Someone earlier made the suggestion of calling them Challenge Missions or something....that could work if you could get the farmers to label them as such....otherwise it falls to the playerbase to tag stuff as "challenge missions / farms" and we already have something like that in place and it's not working

As to giving the farmers a bonus. The only 3 bonuses there really are, are tickets, exp and inf and you can't give them a huge exp/inf boost. If farms were tagged farm and got 25% more tickets if tagged that way then maybe farmers would do that. they could spend 20 seconds less on a map but that won't affect the power leveler to whom tickets are a nice bennie, they're there for the exp at 4x8.

EDIT: I still feel fixing the issues with the market would reduce the "need" for tickets that people who farm for them feel/desire. If you can buy almost anything by doing regular missions and not having to hope for the triple apoc to sell for 700mil in order to afford something then there would be far less need to go run tickets.

I dont think it would curtail it that much. It takes about 15 minutes to hit 22.
5 bil in 5 min....crafting time included? buying time of recipes & salvage included? If so then congrats, you've just outdone most of the marketers in the marketing forum

It may not curtail it that much being able to autolevel to 22 for an X year vet but the devs aren't going to let you start out at L50, hence my earlier post of doubt they'll stop powerleveling-farms. Even curtailing it a little would help.

It would probably also help that any mission published that hasn't been played in a year or so gets deleted from the AE listing unless it's a dev choice or hof. Might clear up the AE a bit.

I will take it one step further and say anyone who farms and doesn't enjoy it should have their priorities re-examined.
Sure it would impact your farming. A well built farmer makes 3 mil inf a min. In order for you to match that level of income in 1 hour you would need to make 180 mil in sales per hour.

I agree that flagging a mission as a story for better rewards won't do much. My point is that even if you gave a story a slightly better reward and a farmer made a farm into a "story" to get that reward it won't help them out due to how fast/little they need to farm in order to cap on tickets.

My disagreement was regarding the "cure." I think that developers mislead themselves to believe that farming can be cured. I believe the original team thought that they could cure farming but the remaining group and the newer additions seem to have realized that the best policy is to fix exploits and move on.

Finally, I think that farming means different things to different people. But I think the best definition is repeating a certain behavior in a specific place to obtain rewards. That definition works for corn farming as well as gold farming.
I think what would curtail farming, as some people enjoy doing that so they won't stop no matter what, is fixing market issues.
    • Lack of mid range recipes
    • Extreme prices forcing people to RMT, Farm, or do without
These two things could be solved in a variety of ways, making tickets far less desired which would curtail farming some.

Increase market supply of recipes would drop all prices. We know this by looking at what happened to Costume recipes. This could be done in a variety of ways, such as...
    • Any recipe sold to a vendor appears on the market for it's base vendor cost.
    • Increase drop rate of uncommon/rare recipes
    • Redo uncommon/rare recipes that people don't use due to crappy set bonuses making them more desired and removing the need for the few good rares (+def, rech, acc, dmg bonuses instead of +debt prot, confuse reduction etc..)
    • Lower merit vendor prices on recipes
    • Allow 10 tips a day, doubling the rate of Alignment merits.
    • Allow tickets to actually buy a recipe instead of just randoming on it.
    • Merge all recipe levels into one recipe that just levels with you, cutting out tons of recipes.
For salvage you can do similar stuff. Also making common salvage just buy-able for say 10 tickets per would help instead of more random roll crap. Also lowering the rare costs from 500+ tickets would also reduce the prices of rare salvage.

Now you wouldn't want to implement all of these but some of them would make a large impact on what's available to the populace.

As to power level farming. Don't think there's much that can be done about that. People were farming Dreck with bridges way back in issue 1 and they'd keep farming missions today if AE gave no rewards, with the bonus of purple drops. Maybe allow X year vets to start a character at L22 would help curtail some power level farming.

There is no hard and fast definition to what an exploit is, but I think that the devs define it as any activity that causes a large number of players to gain rewards at an unreasonably high rate.

They can tackle exploits and succeed at eliminating them, even if it's only one at a time. But farming cannot be eliminated because a significant number of players will always go to the next best thing.

I anticipate that CEBR will result in some corrective measure in the near future. My guess is that TopDoc had that result as a goal . . . as he laughs his way to the bank.
Farming is not just about leveling BionicFlea, you know that it's also about inf gain to buy stuff now that we've had an "economy" in the game since issue 9.

IOs make a character by far more powerful then SOs ever could and in most cases then Hammi O's.

I do agree that you can't really stop farming in it's various forms but you can curtail it by addressing the core problems that cause people to farm...within reason of course.

The thing is good farmers will always look for anything that maximizes their rewards/time. If someone found out that a bright pink spandex costume improved load times I guarantee you the next day the AE would be full of brutes in bright pink spandex. Similarly if you added a "give this arc more rewards" button (which is essentially the proposal) I guarantee farmers would select it just in case.
No that won't happen. have you actually farmed by chance? It's not a big deal if you haven't.

Let me lay out a basic farm for you as seen in threads like cebr. You may already know this but others may not.
    • usually use a map that can be frontloaded. There are a few good warehouses / labs that do this.
    • Have either objects or bosses up front that when damaged spawn ambushes set to hard. Max seems to be 6 to a map instead of in the past where you could have like 30. These are set to front.
    • Single glowie, floor or wall that's clicked to exit.
    • on zone in the mobs are right at the front, you move a short distance into them and start killing/triggering the ambushes. These swarm you so fast that you max tickets within a min or so. A farmer won't stop and shave off 10 seconds because very very few try to monitor their tickets while killing stuff, they need to spam inspirations as they drop and watch what they're doing.
    • They Only kill the front spawn/ambush and then click glowie to exit. Many times they only get a bonus of a couple hundred tickets if that due to how much they gain from all the ambushes.
    • They are of course set on ?x8 (from 0 to 4).
    • Most farmers stay to kill the rest of the foes for the extra inf that drops so a ticket bonus won't mean anything to them cause they'll cap no matter what.
Again if you want to stop farming, address the problem that causes farming as I laid out in an earlier post. Don't niggle with the symptoms that doesn't solve anything.

That's pretty minimal, but it IS a plus, so for min-maxers, it's more optimal than not having it, however small the advantage.

    Eco
Now why would a farmer care about 10 tickets and 1000 exp when a killed minion will give 14k? (+3-4x8) That's nothing to a powerleveler-farmer.

Make AE no better than fighting mobs of greys and almost no one will bother. I know I don't fight mobs of greys unless there is a badge involved, and even then it's only when I'm bored.
Correct. Everyone in this game wants to see progression of some sort and rewards for the time they spend playing. If there are none then why play? Games have goals outside of fun, thats just the way human nature works. You're all expecting that people will just flock to the ae to play a good story and you're sadly mistaken if you look at the average player. People enjoy the missions in game like a few times then they're bored with them but they do them because they get progression on their characters and they get rewards. If ae gave no progression and no rewards then extremely few people would play and most of you are already in this forum and can find each others story arcs. It's not a pretty truth but it is the truth.

There are plenty of non farmers or farmer lites who run AE to try and help themselves out with tickets for salvage and IOs for their characters advancement.

Again if you want to stop farming address the core problems in the game that cause farming. Don't try to cure the symptoms of farming. That accomplishes nothing.

  24. Currently the only change that I've noticed so far, and mind you I have not messed with bases a lot yet is that (I believe its all storage but I checked on enh bin) the bins sort alphabetically now.

You may now return to your tedious stacking ^_^
