Official Thread for Masterminds: Thugs
[ QUOTE ]
Feh. I think they should do this with everyone, or spread around some options of choosing male/female characters. Can you imagine a wraithly, beautiful, furious female Liche? Or a tough, tom-boy Commando? Or a hot girl-ninja?

Options good.
Random bad.
(I would seriously go ninjitsu assassin on everyone in a 120 mile radius if they gave my Merc MM a girl -anything-.)
Dawncaller - The Circle of Dawn
Too many blasted alts to list, but all on Virtue.
Just tried thugs with my MM
Just a few things I noticed and were already said before me.
Thugs don't follow well.
They are slow.
My pistol sounds like some wierd futureistic laser weapon to me( No Idea it just does)
And why randomize the thug models? One time my thug "Chris" was white, next mission he was asain.
I got my LT tonight on my thugs MM. I was told by several people that the LT was supposed to carry some kind of Leadership pool power. I have my first buff for the pets, and after buffing them there was no leadership pool added to my LT. Dont know if this is a bug. If I am repeating someones post already I apologize. Just want to let the Devs know the buggs that I am finding.

The Enforcer (2nd Tier Pet) has Leadership->Defence and after his 1st Upgrade gets Leadership->Tactits.
Sadly it does not spill over to your toon, but will spill over to other Thug Henchmen (unknown if it spills over to other Toons Henchmen).
I can say that having a 4 Toon Thug team, you dont miss a whole lot with all that stacked.
Thugs have no resistances on their own, and only gain some small measure of defense from being in close range to the Enforcers. with the current AI (small children high on Pixie sticks) 20 feet is too short a distance for such a group.
the Thugs run all over the place for no reason (not even getting into melee range ... just running loose)
nevermind me trying to keep them in Supremacy range.
Notes on Thug Powers:
A) Shells really do look extremely silly ejecting out of revolvers.
B) Anyway we can get the power name changed to Empty Magazine? Clips haven't be used for common fire arms in decades. Maybe rename it to Unload?
C) It seems the only people who don't hate the sounds of the guns are people who actually know what guns sound like. You did a good job. Unfortunately, it's not very "cinematic". A nice base boost would probably help out there.
D) See A.
All around great job on the new powers and sfx! As soon as every1 saw those Desert Eagles my friends made plans to buy cov (gun freaks to a new level huh?). But a few things though....
Are we goin for thugs or some bad @$$ suburban kids? K here it is.... Im a 6'5" black dude with two Desert Eagles tryn to get some respect in Mercy and right when i bust in the bank door and whistle i get laughed at. You know why? Because two malnourished pink mohawk havin wannabes showed up with smiles.... If we're goin for true thugs lets see some attitude. Shades, facial hair, a bandana, and some muscle for God's sake!
Oh and I know you all prolly said it but the equip animation should be changed. I cant stand when two sets have the same animations for moves(like Dark Melee's Assassin technique). Throw him a roll of cash or maybe do an animation that would signafy a moral boost. And for the whistle, maybe a small cell phone.
Money Roll? Now that is a good idea! Have a money symbol glow under them (like the ninjas do - the glowing symbol aspect) or have them glitter as they bling out (bandana idea is cool for the upgrade piece).
Well last night testing:
Major difference I noticed in the graphics/animation is that while solo, the same gun disappearing issue was present. But when I teamed, it was not. They even kept the guns in hand and correctly switched from gun to gun as they shot down longbow.
The AI was ridiculous! we were in a Mayhem Mission (uber fun....kudos to devs) and my punk insisted on walking out of the jail entrance door in order to walk in through the wall. I am not kidding, he would run out the door and then reappear through a wall. Then after taking down the jail doors, he would runinside and stay there (did the devs program a conscience into the punks to randomly make them feel bad and put themselves in jail?) They would NOT obey the follow command.
Edit/Addition:In furthering the defensive stance issue, changing certain preestablished macros with the "Def" ending does not work or when it does, they just stop attacking. Kinda useless if you are trying to use bodyguard in a fight.
The defense stance is buggy. Sometimes they attack when agroed sometimes not. Aggressive works fine.

Supposedly there's a carnie set in the future. I'm sure you will definatly get your wish then.
Gang War is very cool, but after using it twice, I've got a couple of big problems with it. I can't shake the suspicion that they're this way on purpose, but let me see if I can change your mind.
First of all, given that I have to have a target selected to summon them, and given the long recharge time which means I pretty much have to save them for boss fights, is it possible that what I want them to do is concentrate hard on that target? I'm not saying that they have to attack it continuously until it falls down, but the selected target should be at the top of their list, as if it had fired a taunt at them, and stay there for longer than they currently do. As it stands, they take one swing at the selected target, hit or miss, and then randomly mill around picking other targets.
Which brings up the second problem. That is to say, they pick other targets ... if they do anything at all. They're just not aggressive enough. If they're not hit, they take forever to actually enter combat, even if I drag them right up to contact distance from something. They need to either be set to a more aggressive AI, or if they're on an aggressive AI already then their aggro range is either bugged or set too short.
Oh, and unslotted, they suck rocks. But one Acc and one Dmg DO cleaned them up quite nicely. (It may have helped that the Enforcer is slotted with 3 ToHitBuff DOs. Do they get the benefit of my Enforcer's leadership skills? It looked kind of like they did.)
Other than that, I don't have much to complain about; two thugs, an arsonist, an enforcer, my posse, and me went through Ace McKnight, an Elite Boss (admittedly on Villainous setting, so he conned only orange) in around 5 minutes. I was soloing, so there weren't a lot of Longbow minions with him; it's possible that their milling around and hitting random targets other than Ace helped distract fire away from the myself and my four main minions, which I guess might have been more important if the spawn size had been larger.
They last just barely long enough for two normal fights. When you get to that second fight, though, it is almost impossible to get them to actually attack something until one of them gets hit. And given that they're not really doing anything to attract aggro, the fight's half over by then. Yet another example of why I say that they need to be more aggressive.

[/ QUOTE ]I think because they go from t-shirt to tanktop that the body aura needs to happen ... unless they want to show the thug pets stripping. That would cause a different sort of problem though.
HAIKU!
Tried thugs yesterday.
Thugs move like slugs on the drugs.
Uncontrollable.
Sooo, anyway I got 500 feet from the base and the thug was still in the base almost. Then I wanted him to follow me along the beach and he ran away from me, then up a bank and when I caught up with him and found a mob and commanded him to engage, he didn't.
I'm not impressed, seems very broken.
FIRST IMPRESSIONS OF ENFORCERS:
1: The "hipshot" heavy Uzi burst doesn't seem to have any sounds.
2: Can we get heavier sounds for the Uzis? I'm not one for toilet humor, but it sounds like they're farting at people.

The phrase you're looking for, to borrow it from Spider Robinson, is "asthmatic sewing machine." I'm told it's what a Uzi actually sounds like. But I could stand to have the volume turned up on it a little bit, too. But after running mercs to 40, trust me, eventually the sound of loud, clattering SMGs/assault rifles gets really old.
Ok, I didn't think it was possible for MMs to be more annoying but success has been achieved. Have you been in a group of 8 yet with 4 Thug MMs and all call Gang War? In caves? Seriously. Not grouping with more than 2 MMs ever from this point on again. Too much of a pain in the patoot if you are a Brute or Stalker (or any other AT really).
Can pets be made non-solid or something? Or mission spaces much larger? Or MM AT just be dropped from the game?
Total Focus is a hold, right?
Yea no joke. Been meening to say something about them not being moveable.. Like other mm pets u can push by running into them these guys are solid and unmoveable. Kinda anoying specialy with how dumb they are..

Please no. The one thing the game does not need is more annoying and louder sounds (and super-bright visuals either).

boy aren't u a bundle of joy!
Yes...makes my zombies look like they came from Harvard! Imagine the headache of the bank in the mayhem mission when all the civis go haywire and so do your thugs.

To echo what others have said about the upgrade animation, it needs a change.
What about throwing them your colors?
Youve passed your initiation and have earned the right to wear our gangs colors. Wear em with pride.
Have the MM toss them a bandana and their appearance can change to have them wearing the Do-Rag. Have the enforcers tie it off around their arm (I think the they get the mask as part of the second upgrade so the theme would still fit without changing anything).
Just having the teir-1 thugs and the tuffs from Gang War wearing Do-Rags would go along way in dispelling their boy bandishness, IMHO.

Hm. All my robots are female already. Go figure.
I think the upgrade power should be another goon walking up behind them, tapping them on the shoulder, belting them across the chin, and replacing them.

Seconded! Concerning Empty Clip, I rather like that power, myself, but I play my MM a bit differently.. Thugs/Dark, focusing on debuff and support secondary, with extra buffs like Assault to stack with my Enforcers, and Empty Clip as an attack I'll throw out occasionally to lay down some good ol' softening. That attack seems to have a very, very wide cone.
Though, I wouldn't mind seeing the power changed for more chain viability.
