The easiest way to use the /ignore_spammer command is to reply to the tell and then arrow over to replace /tell with /ignore_spammer.
[/ QUOTE ]
To add to this, one thing that's also very good to do is when you reply to set up your ignore, decorum suggests intuiting something about the spammer's mother. Some people groan when a spam pops up, but I sort of enjoy the chance to try out some new zingers. Sometimes I'm surprised at the darkness lurking in my soul. But not often. -

This could have been in the planning before the divorce? Plans like this, I would imagine, are in the works for a long period of time. Software development, for any company, is not an "overnight" thing.
[/ QUOTE ]
Except that the Statesman based Cryptic rhetoric was that for our own good and the better enjoyment by all of the game, the mystery surrounding "Real numbers" was integral by design.
My guess is that with the minor reporting of percentages when powers are moused over this became feasible but more information than those generalities were still with held because Daddy knew best. I think the software is now all there, the ridiculous faulty (no matter how well intententioned) design barrier removed, and this will mostly be a matter of gathering and packaging up the relevant data for display. -

Smoothing the XP Curve
One thing that we constantly examine is the rate of advancement in the game. In a future version, we intend to smooth out the leveling curve by changing how much experience is given out for defeating opponents. The intent is to smooth out the bumps where players typically get stuck leveling up their characters. Keep an eye on coming patch notes for specifics.
Real Numbers
As a general quality of life improvement we will be adding new functionality in a coming version of the game to display the real numbers behind your characters and their powers. This includes a user configurable display of important characteristics such as movement rate, regeneration rate, resistances and many more! Additionally, you will be able to see how those statistics are affected in real time by buffs and/or debuffs affecting your character.

Apparently the divorce from Cryptic was the best thing that could have happened to this game?
Wow. Thanks folks. -

Electric Hammer
[/ QUOTE ]
Is it just me, or does this seem strangely specific?
It would be like if they offered us a fire whip, or staff of +1 animal husbandry.
I mean, it's cool and all, but it seems like this would be better as a hammer powerset, then giving us Chance for Electric Damage Melee IO sets.
[/ QUOTE ]
Yes. I very much hope nothing this ridiculous gets in the game. -

I'd rather pay for the box and get more stuff.
[/ QUOTE ]
Amen. 1000 times.
However, I think that entire box / free stuff switcharoo was purely a marketing ruse. If they could have had that stuff ready for a box 6+ months ago, how can it be taking so long to do it now? Has always sounded bogus to me. *shrug* -
Wait, Ludites only drop Tech? But, uh... Isn't that like vegetarians only dropping meat?

It is low priority, however, since Stalkers are still the best in PvP according to our data. As such, there is no ETA for a fix.
[/ QUOTE ]
Haven't we been repeatedly told that the AT we THINK is the best at PvP isn't really the best according to the numbers?
[/ QUOTE ]
Yes.

Now I'm confused.

I am kind of disappointed that there isn't more emphasis on getting villain areas up to Heros levels. I mean there must be twice as many zones and areas for heros as there are for villains. Villains have fewer contact missions, no Shards, no Hollows, no Stringa and no Hazard zones at all.
So what is I8 about? Getting heros equal to villains. Heros have tons of missions and zones to explore compared to villains. So lets take the only thing villains had that heros didn't away from them, newpaper missions and mayhem missions.
That wouldn't bother me as much if they at least threw the villains a bone. But it doesn't sound like they really plan on balancing villains much, instead all they talk about is adding more to heros or to both. i.e. the Stateman taskforce and inventions.
[/ QUOTE ]
Many (if not most) of the CoH Hazard zones are continually empty and unwanted. They were a very bad idea about forced teaming, except that even teams don't want to do street hunting in the middle of the Abandoned Sewer Network.
I'm really hoping most hazard zones just go away.
[/ QUOTE ]
Hazard zones are a relic from adressing the desires of multiplayer games of eons past. When Heroes launched the number one thing people wanted in this genre was enormous vacuos zones filled to the brim with groups of enemies that they could "hunt" with friends. When my small circle of friends started we were damn near the only people running missions.
You have to remember that when Heroes launched, instanced content was virtually unheard of in the genre (Realm had it! Hahaha!) and was a hotly debated feature. Many people argued that any instanced content at all eroded the very framework on which these games were founded.
Obviously Cryptic was a little ahead of the curve here and instanced content, if not the norm, is now a staple in the industry.
So that's the peculiar situation we are now left with regarding Hazard zones. When I started you couldn't walk 50 yards in one without seeing a roving group of eight mega heroes herding 3 dozen enemies to their mass murder, and now you'd be lucky to find one other character grumbling about some god forsaken quest they need to finish 2.5 miles north of the Boomtown gate.
I don't want them to go away, I want them to change dramatically. I want them to become kind of PvPless PvP areas. What? Well, I want you to NEVER have to go there unless you go to a specific contact for a Hazard mission. I want them to be HAZARDOUS hell zones, with hordes of dynamic enemies groups patrolling the area. I want you to be finishing up a hard fight, spy another group baring down on yuou over a hill and have to hero-up or die fighting. Make them change ala Victory but have the engine to do so be PvE. I think it would be a blast, hard as hell and not for the faint of heart, but 100% voluntary.
That would kick [censored]. -

Besides, by the time MUO comes out, I'll be more than ready for the switch, as I'm sure most of us will be.

There's one. How many to follow?
Oooo look, the marvel MMO lets me do X, CoH/V doesn't. Oooo, the marvel one has better performance cuz it's written under the heavy guidance of MS and thus will be coded in D3D... heading out. Oooo, the marvel one let's me be a wolvie clone without getting the smackdown by the mods. 50K players exodus.
Sorry folks, not seeing an upside here.
Unless Cryptic intentionally makes the combat system completely different and uses the extra advertisement to gain more players.
Whatever. We'll see. For now, I'll maintain my pessimism.

The Supergroup mode bugs are back.
Exemple:
I have a character with Monster legs, Insectoid pattern, green/red Blend patterned.
When i it SG mode, my legs become Green/WHITE. But i can't edit it because the SG settings show my characters has having monster FURY legs, without any option to change the color. Help?
[/ QUOTE ]
Back? On most of my characters the Group/Editor bug has been present for months. Come to think of it, maybe more than a year. Very, very frustrating.
Although, yes, this patch made them MUCH worse. I have one (well more than one but specifically for this post) character who is all red/black/green. On the super group editor he is a pale creamy orange.
It is par for the course for all my characters to change hairstyles, pants, boots, the works. Don't even get me started on jackets/sleeves.
I suggest completely removing all costs for costume changes until you folks can figure this out. Are we in for many more months of this bug? Another year? -
Is the supergroup mode / costume shop bug EVER going to be fixed?
Expatriate is a bald black man. Every time I go to the costume screen I become a very tan, spit curled, white guy. Besides being psychologically damaging and annoying, it costs me a LOT of infamy if I haven't got a freebie.
This bug has been asked about for months. What's up? -
[ QUOTE ]
Nope, not from MGS3. I forgot where I learned that, but yeah, let's drop it. Game's a game.
[/ QUOTE ]
For off hand shooting it makes sense because it gets most people's dominant eye (right) closer to the irons without scooting your head over your left arm.
Try it out, get your pistol, toy if you've not got any, and hold it off hand straight up like normal. Now, sight on something. Tough huh? Then drop it sideways ala gangsta. It's easier to put in line. Now if you were to try the unadvisable and use two pistols it would make some sense to drop the off hand (usually left) 90 degrees while keeping your primary hand upright. (Kind of like fending off a vampire with a makeshift cross...) This makes it much easier to get both pistols on target.
Thing is of course, you still aren't going to hit a [censored] thing with the off hand pistol anyway... but we're talking about pistols here. You're not going to hit much no matter what, so why split hairs?
It's thematic, semi-plausible and it looks sweet. Folks should let it go. -

I think the upgrade power should be another goon walking up behind them, tapping them on the shoulder, belting them across the chin, and replacing them.

FIGJAM: Smarter than the rest of us. -
Notes on Thug Powers:
A) Shells really do look extremely silly ejecting out of revolvers.
B) Anyway we can get the power name changed to Empty Magazine? Clips haven't be used for common fire arms in decades. Maybe rename it to Unload?
C) It seems the only people who don't hate the sounds of the guns are people who actually know what guns sound like. You did a good job. Unfortunately, it's not very "cinematic". A nice base boost would probably help out there.
D) See A. -

Pardon if this has been mentioned already.
Enemies that are within the Lightning Field (I think that's what it's called) seem to play the Life Drain animation when hit. Perhaps this is a miss call for the jiggling shock animation?

Glad its not just me, crazy mooks are trying to drain my life every other attack it seems. lol But all are doing it.
[/ QUOTE ]
Thanks, Shaggy. Glad it can be reproduced. No one on test seemed to know what I was talking about. Course it was in Mercy Island where most people are still "testing" ;alakazamreact.
Don't know if it's Electric Shields fault, but when I have Lightning Field on and I go up or down an elevator I get stuck. This happens everytime in the Recover Arachnos Agent or whatever mission from the Doc under the clock tower. -

I've only played my Thugs/Dark to level 4 and haven't taken the Punk yet, just was having too much fun with my pistol powers. I really was a full Pistols primary now.
As for the gun, they do sound a bit weak for what they look like. However, they do good damage against minions, just once you run into Lieutenants the damage falls off sharply it seems.
Most of the animations look good, the pistolwhip replacing Brawl was sweet, but for the crying out loud, why do we have the stupid sideways gangsta grip in there? Some of us want to look like we actually know how to handle a firearm.
[ QUOTE ]
The guns do seem a bit huge on my smallish female character though.
[/ QUOTE ]
On my 3 foot tall character the guns look like they'd break her wrists with their recoil.
[/ QUOTE ]
Yes, people who know what they are doing in real life do not fire guns that way. However, it does look cool and it is genre specific. That gives it a pass in my book.
However, if you are such a gun afficionado, please join my quest to get shell cassings to stop ejecting out the side of the Punk's revolvers. Failing that, just give them autos. This would also fix the absurdity of tossing men with revolvers a rifle magazine to upgrade them. Haha, or, have the punk look at it, [censored] his head to the side as if saying, "The [censored] am I supposed to do with this?" and toss it back.
Firing a pistol "gangtsa" is 10x better than having spent cassings magicly pop out of a cylander. One is genre specific and the other is fundamently incorrect. It's like having the Katana's double bladed, or having arrows shoot out of the Assault Rifle, or holding the Bow backwards, etc... -
Points on Thugs so far:
1) The pistols, like all other weapons, look ridiculously too large on female models. Good looking models, but yet again comicly outsized for females.
2) Punk's revolver's eject shell cassings with every shot. That is silly. If nothing else is changed before going live, PLEASE FIX THAT. Similarly, I upgrade my Punk's by throwing them a magazine when they use revolvers? The upgrade animtion being identicle to Mercs is troublesome enough. Please change the animation to be; A) Unique and B) logical.
3) Everything else is unbelievably cool. Sounds, animations, powers, everything. Good job. -

Consider this an official, public apology. It wasn't my intent to cause any racial tensions here, I was trying to keep a potential problem light hearted.
I sincerely apologize.
To everyone else:
It's hard for me to remember at times the great variety of folks who read these boards, from all ethnicities, political and religious backgrounds. I imagine when most people are posting, they tend not to think about such things as well. As a representative of Cryptic Studios, however, I *do* need to pay more attention to these things. In the event that I fail in this, please PM me about it so I can take corrective action.

Will Brutes' Fury not building properly in PVP get fixed?
[/ QUOTE ]
I've not figured out a way to get it working yet. It's possible I *can't* get it to work as described, in which case, we'll have to have a pow wow around here (complete with Tee Pee's and Peace Pipes, hopefully) to figure out what to do.

Scalp the coders.
Or just give Brutes a flat 35% Fury when in PvP zones.
