Thats the way it is with every melee pet. Practice with ninjas if you need to get used to it.
Ive read a couple pages about the Bruser and I have no experance with him but if hurl bolder is that bad then just take the power out and make him all melee.
Any ways if the bruser isnt superhuman atleast I dont think he is wich means it would be impossible for him to rip a huge chunk of side walk and throw it.

I actually found that I get much higher dps out of just not using the lv 32 upgrade power on the Bruiser.
Even when sending him into melee, he likes to through the boulder at point blank range. The other two powers he gains for the lv 32, is KO Blow (25 sec recharge), and Footstomp ( 20 sec Recharge, AoE). I use the Bruiser as a single target killer, and having him cycle Jab, Punch, Haymaker (From 1st upgrade), and occasionally using Handclap (1st upgrade) makes him much better at killing a tough boss than having access to the extra lv 32 upgrades (Especially due to the hurling AI).
Some may say, well, what about fliers? Not a problem for me, got fast recycling -Fly that also does -Recharge and Slow.

They definitely do rock, when a player can use them properly.
The Bruiser doesn't use them properly, hence I get better dps rate without KO Blow and Footstomp. It just gives me too many issues to be worth using the lv 32 upgrade.

In reply to simply not using the lvl 32 upgrade to make the Bruiser better... yes, he does perform better when you dont use it on him, but you should WANT to use your final upgrade on your final pet. Its something we should look forward to. I like the suggestion of simply removing Hurl Boulder from his attack list.
I understand you can just use the goto command, but why not make him a little different to set him apart from other sets. Just give him NO range attacks what so ever. We have 5 other pets for that, make it so that he has no choice but to go melee. /shrug.
In any case, if he must have range he needs to be fixed. I want to use the 32 upgrade.

that would be awesome, a girl in my grad student program learned that dance adn taught it to all of us, we now do it at all the official functions that has a dj...I think it makes the professors a bit nervous.
Ok... I just got finished with the "Kidnap Vanessa Verandi" mission in the mission there was a temp pet called "PITBULL" from the family.. hes every thing a bruiser should be!!!!
Great defense (um damage resistance, forget defense=dodge in this game) the Super Strength powers but most of all.. The SHOTGUN!!!! The long range cone was soooo nice... and the way his AI was set IS THE BEST for a pet I'v seen for a pet.
the way he set up to a group of mobs pull out the shot gun and blast them, but once they scattered hed charge in and take out the stragglers with his SS powers while the rest of the team handled the main group and if someone was in trouble he'd come to their aid (or maybe he just happened to choose the right mob to attack, not sure)

all I ask is you give the bruiser a shotgun ( havent made it to the lv to get one so im not sure if he already does, but in the RV event on test I made a lv 40 thug MM but dont remember if I seen him pull out a shotgun.) With the same spec and the same AI you gave the "Pitbull" pet

So not alone on this. Sure I've been wanting winged monkeys forever now or even just an animal set, but I'll settle for group pop-lock.
So far I love my punks. They seem to be stronger than my zombies or soldiers were. I like that they have a little more variety too. Sometimes I call twins which looks odd. I would like to see them get a little more pimped out, gold chains and clocks, or something.
I only wish I could pick what style they wear, but that might be more complicated in terms of programming. Still a choice of pimp thugs, mafia thugs, street thugs, or Triad/Yakuza would be neat.

Well, the shotgun would be a nice touch. Since none of the other pets have that option. I mean nothing else is nasty then hearing that "cahink" sound of the shotgun being c*cked (filter). I can see a big bad brusier using that.
As for the final upgrade, if I remember correctly these powers have a disorent and AOE effect. If they have a knockdown, thats great. Knockback can hurt though.
The only thing I dont understand is added 2 attacks shouldnt delay any more attacks. Usualy the 3rd tier pet, will have moments of just standing there cause a power is waiting to cycle.
With the full upgrades, he should never have a time where he just stands there.

I third that
When you call thugs your character should pull out a big '80s style boom box, prop it up on his shoulder, and start rocking out to some jams. At this point Thugs would come running in with the same animation as the Tier 1 mercs and start doing /em dance.
That would be awesome.

He plays pretty slow (for him) at first, but at about 3 minuties into that my head exploded because I was being rocked so hard!
My personal opinion, as a MM myself, i think MM's should have a 1 training thing for their pets, which would use one power and enhance all pets at same time, use as much endurance as you would using a single enhancement, i dont think we would be overpowered at all, or anythign to that sort, it would just make it easier for us and the teamates that wait forr us to summon and enhance.. just my opinion

What would be nice is a color-coded status bar when the health is full so you know who needs the upgrade and who does not. But then again, if a pet gets wounded, to say half health right after you summon it, that would cause the bar to turn yellow it would get in the way of knowing again. Or maybe a Font size-change would help a little. Small Fonted name when not Upgraded.... larger Fonted name when Upgraded.

I love my MM I have the Pistols and I find they do decent dam. But I have also found that If I put My Thugs and Enforcer in Passive /Follow They respond better. Really good on a Mayhem Mission and as soon as you are through the banks door set to Aggresive attack my target They work pretty good for me. I have not lost a Mayhem mish yet this way.
Putting the "Pitbull" AI on the bruiser wouldn't be an unwelcome change, but one thing that puzzles me is that the bruiser description says he is supposed to have an automatic rifle for long ranged attacks.
Continuing to belittle the bruiser, he doesn't feel like the end all of MM Thugs, sure his entrance is cool, but the constant knockback makes AoEs like (dark miasma) Tar Patch and the Debuff (name?) useless. Give him a huge steel pipe graphic and assign him the mace powerset.

So far I'm loving the set, just hit 30 on my Thugs/Traps and I'm pretty pleased with the set. The only problems I've noticed so far is the Bruisers AI. He seems to be lacking a lot in the fighting department. I send him to attack a certain target and he'll do just fine, but when I send my Enforcers and Punks in, I'll find him just standing around while the others take down the target. It doesn't happen all the time, but enough times that I've noticed and thought I should post something about it. I haven't read through this whole thread so someone may have already posted this up, so I apologize if this is a rehash.
lvl 32 as a thugs MM is pretty good, yet in order to get any kind of functionality out of the bruiser i cant use any upgrades on him, on the plus side the arsonists dynamite is a blast.

I just fly directly to the bank, enter, summon, kill. with twilight grasp set to auto and my first bot targeted Iv yet to lose a single mayhem either

While I do agree that the tier1 Thugs probably should have an automatic of somesort, I don't think the MM him/herself should have the same style of Pistol.
The MM should have something sleek, and sophisticated (Look at the Merc/Robot rifles...

Just a small commentary on this point: The Merc MM rifle is the same one the SpecOps use. The difference, is that the SpecOp version has a longer barrel. I'm guessing the silencer.
