Takes longer to do a Task Force? Here's a nice bonus you can't get anywhere else.
[/ QUOTE ]
Careful with that one, it sound innocent enough when phrased like that but be aware that a lot of players will rephrase it as:
"Want that ultra-important drop? Well cut a hole in your chair and put a bucket under it, cause the only way you're getting it is by completing an 8 hour task force."
I might suggest offering a greater quantity of drops rather than a unique drop. The activity DOES need to be rewarded, but you have to be careful in making activity A the only way to receive reward X.
That is, after all, why we have the Statesman Task Force coming up now, isn't it? -
I am shocked that not ONE of the devs has mentioned Horizons so far.
EDIT
Jeez, I put that there thinking no one else would've thought to mention it. Not only did they, but there's a mention of it just above mine. So much for me being clever.
What a horrible, horrible game. -
Well. You convinced me. I'm going to make one.
Great guide. -
I had a fire-based character (he was a fire/invuln brute, but I deleted him and if I were to recreate him I'd probably go with a fire/fire blaster) who was a Natural origin.
The concept was that he was a virtuoso fire-dancer. Mastering sleight of hand allowed him to create optical illusions with the fire (the sword), and dealing with hundreds of burns and toxic fluids made him quite resistant to pain (invuln).
I felt it was plausible, as the context goes. -
1) Pirate shirt from CoV beta. Jay is sexy.
2) Eye lenses like many superheroes have, which block out the pupils. Screenshot (Best way to implement this would be to make a new category for "Eyes" and just offer Lens or No Lens, so people can combine with whatever masks they want. Jay is sexy.)
Ian is probably sexy, too.
EDIT
3) Masks without mouths. More of 'em please. Would allow better use of the "full mask" option. Screenshot (To be more specific, I'm referring to mask patterns, not the actual "Face" options available. Like Deadpool has the two black spots around his eyes, but no black pointing out where his mouth should be.)
I once heard of a firefighter named Jay. He saved lives. -

Okay, am I the only one wishing there was an emote that set all the thugs in formation with me, and then we all did the "Beat It" dance?
[/ QUOTE ]
Well if they let you do that with thugs, then they BETTER have an emote for Undead MM that lets your henchmen get into formation and do the "Thriller" dance!
[/ QUOTE ]
MUHAHAHAHA
I want the option to summon Gang war so they appears in foramtion snapping their fingers menacingly.

"Aren't we gonna rumble?"
"Not without three years of ballet and dance we're not!" -
They do seem to stack, yes.
And yes, using it on a melee minion is a good option. However, keep in mind that the power has an accuracy debuff as well, and if you put it on a ranged minion, you can stand next to him and feel safe knowing that anything coming to melee you is getting debuffed.
Course, Thugs has both types. -

I find the absence of Red Name comments on either the Elec Armor or the Elec melee to be quite sad at this point. We know they are reading the boards, but their lack of comment to me at this point is that both versions of Elec are " working as intended ".
Given the potential for this set - not really looking for uber, but was hoping for par - in its current form it will be most likely relegated to theme/concept builds only.

Keep in mind, E3 was last week, so a lot of the devs were probably down there and didn't have time to check the forums as much as we have been. There were what, around 3-5ish dev posts the entire last week? I'm sure we'll get a lot more this week now that they're back.
[/ QUOTE ]
Sorry, I was at E3, and Cuppa was the only CoX Dev or Mod I saw at the NCSoft booth during my many visits there (one of the blue-shirted people at the main desk looked at me like I was from Mars when I first said "Cryptic", but it's possible she just couldn't hear me over the band NCSoft had on stage).
Cryptic didn't have any demos there at all. Just a poster and a looping gameplay video, really. I don't see what they could've been doing at E3 that would justify a week of silence.
[/ QUOTE ]
Keep in mind, there was the big NCSoft booth in the South Hall and there were the private NCSoft rooms in the Concourse Hall. You probably never saw Tisirin in the South Hall, but he was at E3 hanging around in the Concourse. I know for fact that Positron was there, because I, uh, saw him at the NCSoft party that I probably shouldn't have been allowed to. I didn't personally see any other Cryptic folks, though, so I couldn't guess who else was there. The Meet 'n' Greet might've brought a few others over, though. Keep in mind, Cryptic isn't all that far from LA, so it's probably easier to coax them over for events like that in the area. -
[ QUOTE ]
Or maybe I'm just so excited I'm thinking of another power that jumps...
[/ QUOTE ]
That would be the case.
I believe Jacob's Ladder is a standard cone. -
I mean... you, like, know this is live already, right? And it has been for... I mean, a long time now.
-
Been trying to figure this one out for a while now, haven't been able to track down any clues. Manticore never responded to my PM, but I figured that'd probably be the case.
Is there any indication whatsoever as to just how old Malaise is?
With Sister Psyche having drastically slowed aging, he could've been her enemy decades ago. He could very well be in his 50s for all I can determine.
I ask because one of my characters (the one from whom I take my forum name- Contempt) is a blood relative. I've left it vague as to what, exactly, that blood relation is. I would like to cover that.
Anyone able to track down any clues that have eluded me? -

Oh and in beta you USED to be able to change AT's through the Terra Volta trial. So the tech is in place to change patron powers. Just like the tech is available to do name changes, etc.
[/ QUOTE ]
Actually that was the original, on-paper, plan for Terra Volta. The Strategy Guide went off the on-paper plan and said that is the end result of the trial. Thus there is no "tech in place" for this. The Terra Volta trial was not in the COH beta, it was issue 2, I believe, that it made its debut. Changing ATs has never been in the game, it was never programmed.
Hopefully that clears that up.
[/ QUOTE ]
Not according to your testers. Hate to say it Posi, but I just don't believe a word you guys say anymore when you say you're all going to do something.
[/ QUOTE ]
You are misinformed and unintentionally hilarious.
What testers? I was there when the Terra Volta Trial hit Test- it really, really didn't let you change your AT. It DID used to be insanely hard to complete, but you couldn't change your AT or your powersets. I was really hoping it would, but nope.
Time to let this one go. Think about it logically- what would they have to gain from developing all the tech to let people swap ATs and then not releasing it? -

There is no WhiteSands. I tried WhiteSands, White_Sands, WhiteSand, White_Sand... notta. As such, we still have one nomination to go.
[/ QUOTE ]
There is so? What the heck were you searching, I typed it correctly.
WhiteSands
[/ QUOTE ]
I had already PMed him letting him know that there is a WhiteSands. Problem is, she hasn't posted since early February, and he was only searching for the last month. -
I'll nominate Lady_Sadako , mostly cause I'm surprised she's not already on the list.

I just rolled a Dark/Poison MM

Hmmm, now how did you manage that?
Try as I might, it won't let me select two secondaries and skip right over the primary. I'd be a Force Field/Sonic Resonance Controller! -

[ QUOTE ]
No. Because if you didn't go back in time then the vase was still stolen. If you went back and stole it would change nothing as your timeline would be the exact same.
In this theory if you went back and tried to kill your grandfather then reality would stop you. Or it wouldn't and the whole time line would collaspe.
[/ QUOTE ]
You know, I always wondered if you could force a time loop by going back, leaving the plans for your time machine and instructions saying
"If you don't want the universe to explode, build the time machine in these plans, go back to this point, kill <insert your grandfather's name here>, and leave a copy of these instructions in the same place and time where you found them."
then killing your grandfather. Your grandfather dies, you cease to exist, somebody helpful comes along and follows your instructions, younger version of the helpful guy comes along and reads the instructions HE left--bam, it's not altering the past anymore, the new guy is just following a time loop that (as far as anyone could tell) always existed.
(You could leave the machine itself, but that runs into some problems when you realize the machine has to survive an infinite amount of trips...)
[/ QUOTE ]
Wouldn't work. You were never born, so you never wrote the note or built the time machine. -

<.< btw, we need to ambush castle with an avatar
[/ QUOTE ]
How has Castle gotten this far without an Avatar? I think one needs to be adopted. Maybe for a little bit, until Castle can find one that's more fitting...
<.<
[/ QUOTE ]
I recall back on the CoV boards when he introduced himself, he said he never uses an avatar. I figure it makes sense, since he was (is?) the Stalker rep, and even if he had an avatar you wouldn't be able to see it. In fact, maybe he DOES have an avatar. RIGHT NOW.
BTW:

I am putting the requirements for Contacts - and their location - in the Prima Guide...
but here was our intent with these Contacts - reward Exploration. Reward people who poke around to find new things. Now, the down side is that once found, these Contacts don't inform the player about what it takes to unlock them.
[/ QUOTE ]
Henri Dumont worked perfectly. He's a good example of what should happen with unlockable contacts. I hadn't even heard of him before, to be honest. I just ran past him, saw the yellow circle and thought "Huh, who's that guy?" I talked to him, and he told me that I needed to beat more Scrapyarders before he'd work with me. So I beat up a lot of Scrapyarders. A lot. Then I got the Strike Buster badge and I thought "Oh, I bet that means he'll talk to me now." Sure enough...
So as far as he's concerned, he's working perfectly with your intent. Some of the others, like the Slot Machine, perhaps not so much. -
[ QUOTE ]
Can someone clue me in on the "Kill skuls" reference? I've been playing CoH since the initial release, but apparently I missed this bit.
[/ QUOTE ]
It was someone sharing their experience with a pickup group. Random invites from an individual who had a "Defeat 10 Skulls" mission, would pop that mission up, invite someone, say "Go. Hunt. Kill Skuls." and sit there waiting for them to do it.
I wonder if the actual post has been archived. -
[ QUOTE ]
You're right... I fixed it so it works off both the CoH and CoV versions now (there are two different versions).
You may need to go back and defeat him again in CoV to get credit.
This will be in an upcoming patch.
[/ QUOTE ]
Will this badge be retroactive or will we be forced to find someone with this missions and take him down again?
It would be nice if this was datamined and Im sureit is, all you have to do is look it up to see if it was completed or not.
[/ QUOTE ]
Check out the bolded part of what you quoted. -

Thanks for taking care of it, Positron. -
[ QUOTE ]
Only when they appear in the world (outside of mission maps) do "Giant Monsters" count for badges. Basically: if it was meant to be taken down by more than 1 team, it gives the badge. Mission versions are scaled down versions that are more like AV's, thus able to be defeated by a single team, and thus do not give the badge.
[/ QUOTE ]
The CoH version of Baphomet appears only inside a mission, not as a Giant Monster. He's in one of the later Portal Corp missions, in an alternate world conquered by the Thorns. This is the only place to defeat him in City of Heroes, and the only way to receive a badge. If he was a Giant Monster in City of Heroes, I would never have questioned it. He is, however, an Archvillain there just like he's an Archvillain in CoV (scaled down to Elite Boss due to the latest patch, though you indicated that would make no difference).
Good news about the Leery thing, though. -
[ QUOTE ]
Badges don't care if you are villain or hero, there are no (or should I say, very few) badges that are "hero only" or "villain only". If you are able to defeat an enemy required for a badge, you can earn that badge.
[/ QUOTE ]
I asked earlier in this thread, is this the case with the Circle of Thorns AV "Baphomet"? He is in a CoV mission and does not award a badge for defeat, whereas in CoH he awards the "Demon Slayer" badge for being defeated. Customer Service told me that the Demon Slayer badge is only available in City of Heroes, and the CoV version of Baphomet does not offer a badge. This seems somewhat contradictory to what you just stated, but this could be one of those "very few". Is that the case? Is it intentional? Just curious, thanks.
[ QUOTE ]
Arbiter Leery is a special case, since the "I have the Respec and have not used it" and "I have used this Respec" badges are actually DIFFERENT badges (we take one away and give the other). A contact can only have one badge that 'unlocks' them, and in this case we needed 2.
[/ QUOTE ]
Would it then be possible to give one of those nifty invisible badges (like the one people are reporting for the Valentine's Day missions) for successful completion of the respec SF, and then hook up the unlocking of Arbiter Leery to that badge? Then he'd be available to anyone who has done the respec strike force, whether they used a respec, still have a respec, or even chose a respec as their reward.
