Don't fret. These features are all specially FOR small SGs.

I didn't see anything about an influence bank.

Did I miss it? Will I still need to have another player character to transfer funds to my lowbies?

EDIT: Beyond that.... VERY NICE STUFF, Devs

[/ QUOTE ]

Was an influence bank ever mentioned? I don't seem to remember in any interviews by the devs but I have missed many discussions on Issue 7.

Why can't we just buy storage bins? Why must we create and then place them?

[/ QUOTE ]
I sure hope not...we'd have to suffer through coordinating our salvage across multiple characters to be able to craft the receptacle to have a central place to dump salvage.

Um, irony?

I'm going to stay cautiously optimistic on the prices of the new functional items...my little PvE SG has scrounged together a semi-functional base, it would be nice to know these are achievable for us. I mean, the storage bins a nice convenience, but lets be honest...some people already mule this stuff around with alts and other characters anyway...it's not like this is something that only big SGs and PvP groups should have access to.

And the new decorative stuff....so...very...pretty. Want it right now, please?

The additions sound great but they certainly do sound ridiculously expensive. Especially the ones where you can create your own special buffs for your SG.

[/ QUOTE ]

OK, stop there. Positron has explained that the whole POINT of the empowerment stations and the storage devices is that they CAN be afforded by a small SG, to make their bases more functional. This is supposed to be the boost that small SGs need.

The one thing they won't be is ridiculously expensive.

Actually, with this, there's less of a need for an inf bank.

You can buy enhs, put them in the storage bin, switch to your lowbie, retrieve the enhs from the storage bin.

I'm doub there will be an SG bank, but the enhancement bank will probably serve better for lower lvl players anyways...50's can leave lvl 50 enhancements for low lvl people to cash in for tons of influence...

that'll probably be very very good to build!

Heh. That'd take awhile...

I think the players have a very different definition of "ridiculously expensive" than the developers.

Millions of prestige for a room? Sheesh.

Still here, even after all this time!

I think they have much the same definition of 'affordable for a small SG'.

When I read the article, to me, it sounded like the empowerment stations were to be used in base... like as for base raids...

[/ QUOTE ]

Consider what Statesman said they'd be used for -- small SGs who can't afford a full blown power room / generator / control room / control objects / workroom / crafting table just to do SOMETHING! with Salvage which is otherwise completely useless, since the only craftable things any non-raid SG needs are teleporters. (...that was a long sentence.) Anyway, solution: Small self-powered, salvage-burning buff stations that tiny SGs can afford and use.

Things that can monkeywrench this plan:
1. The empowerment station is too expensive.
2. The empowerment station only works in one room type (probably workroom).
3. The buff is granted immediately -- and wears off by the time you travel to your mission.

And frankly? I wouldn't put it past the devs to do one or all three of the above. Given how astronomical base costs are and how little anyone seems to care about raiding, I don't think they're quite in touch with what people want out of bases. I'm HOPING Issue 7 is them grounding themselves in reality and lowering costs, offering things like these stations, etc... but I'll wait until we get an official response before I get my hopes up.

Not that I don't believe you but I can't find this mentioned in the Dev Digest. Any link available?

With the release of Issue 7 you can strategize in the great hall around your new table

[/ QUOTE ]

Does this mean we finally get a proper 'sit' emote?

[/ QUOTE ]

Actually it already exists. Been in the game since CoV came out. Walk to the edge of a seat, or railing, and type in "/em ledgesit" and you will sit with your legs dangling over the edge. To make things even sweeter, there are two seperate emotes for the same code. One has arms in lap, and the other has the arms braced on the ledge. Very cool stuff!

Agreed completely... Not to mention the holograph SG emblems... There are some Very cool fluff items that I know my SG will be spending a ton of prestige on.

Ledgesit is for hanging your feet of ledges, if you try to do it on a chair/bench your feet go through the floor, thus it isn't a 'proper sit emote'. If we had to use ledgesit while strategizing around our new table, we sure wouldn't look very confident in our plans, what with our heads hanging down and looking all sad.

I guess it'll work if the entire SG ledgesits on the edge of the table. But then everyone would be facing away from each other!

Costs for a 10-slot inspiration bin? 1million!

Cost for a 10-slot enhancement container? 500K!

I'm just afraid to even ponder how much these things will cost.....Everything even remotely nice is priced so that small groups can't get them. I'll wait till it hits test to see if my SG has a chance at ever owning one.

[/ QUOTE ]

Just so you all realize, the prices Lektrik wrote are completely made up.

Everything in this issue will be "reasonably priced". It doesn't make sense for us to set out to help small supergroups and then charge large supergroup Prestige for the items.

AOL.

Today's discussion was brought to you by the words "cautious" and "optimism".

I have no doubt that these things are going to be cool (they certainly look extremely shiny) but eventually it's not enough to just be cool, it's got to be accessible as well.

Are there any plans to let Hero players get into their SG bases, as opposed to just Villain players that also play heroside?

None of this is at all useful if you can't actually get in.

[/ QUOTE ]
::sigh::

Go buy CoV for $30 at a store. "UPGRADE" your account and you get a free month.

Net cost: $15

That's $15 for four extra slots per server, a whole game's worth of new content, access to all of the SG Base features, and (probably in Issue 7) hero-access to the tons of new CoV costume options.

Seems like a pretty good deal to me...but that's just me. Obviously some don't agree.

The man has spoken. Sorry if it sounded like I was quoting factual information. I was just hypothosizing based on past frustrations at base costs.

Good to hear that they'll be attainable.

Okay, there's one concern out of the way. The other two were room restrictions (not a big deal, though) and how the buffs are granted (a huge deal). Are these basically insps or temp powers that can be fired up when you're ready to use them, or are they insta-granted and fade by the time you get to your door mission?

Actually why dont we wait until I7 comes to test then we can see what the cost for new items will be, instead of 'mind reading' the Devs and complaining later when prices are different.

Pointless to get work up about nothing.

Hell, I recently saw the Collectors Edition on sale for $30 Canadian. CoV is cheap right now.
