So... Alternate Realities, then?

Because I would kill to have The Reichman (misspelling it, I know) revive, rebuild the 5th Column, and then reopen a gateway to his home dimension and start trying to beat the snot out of everyone.

And having an actual Preatorian Paragon City to mess around in would really rock. Expecialy if they included The Rogue Isles, where the resistance groups lead by Aracna-man were hiding out.

Hell, go back to the Rikti homework and kick the [censored] of everything that moves. Expecialy evil mutated King Aurther. I mean Hero 1. -1. One?

Hmm. Another thought. Dark side of the moon.

Well, the way I see it, there are at least two ways to introduce tons of new content without actually leaving the CoH universe, sort of.

I don't know if that's what Jack meant, but when he mentioned shadows I thought of parallel universes type of deal (that's how these are called in Zelazny's Nine Princes of Amber). We already have Praetorions and Axis-America, and there's tons more potential there for cool stuff, in fact I hope that CoV at least have the parallels to Praet's and AAs, but obviously even beyond that, there's just no limit to what you can do in parallel worlds.

The other thing is time travel (sort of), similar to what's going to be introduced in WoW's expansion (very cool stuff there btw, even if you don't play it you should read up on it). We could have missions that send you to the past, maybe to participate in some famous battles (like 5th Colum's attack on Paragon... hmmm, a reason for 5th Column to return? I'm there! ), or help out with famous missions and so on. We might even get to see Statesman and other heroes in their old/original costumes.

Oh and if they dedicate a whole Issue to making Shadow Shard anything but a ghost zone I'm all for it.

Now that you have two half finished games how about we fill them out and make them as robust as most people would expect an MMO to be before we go and get carried away with the next City of....

[/ QUOTE ] You do realise that 'finished' and 'MMO' really go together very, very, very rarely. Actually, I'm completely unable to think of one.

Way to completely miss the point of what I said. Well done, you should be a dev.

Me? What do I think is next?

Hmmm. It isn't Spies quite yet...

[/ QUOTE ]

My two top guesses would be City of Monsters (although CoV already offers a lot of monstrous options) and City of Civilians (which would possibly allow secret identities)... or maybe City of Mercenaries, City of Vigilantes, City of Anti-Heroes...

I would hope that it's what some people have already suggested: World of Heroes (and Villians). I'd like for the basic idea to be that there are a few cities the size of Paragon City around the world that heroes and villians would fight for control over. The PvE and PvP content would be readily available in that case. I mean, they already have 2 cities now (Paragon and the Rogue Isles). These added cities could be branch-outs that have a certain level requirement to go to. Someone else also mentioned the idea of maybe a new group showing itselves, like an alien species that would be a threat to both heroes and villians alike to create some unlikely team-ups.

I would so much rather they did something like this than do something that involved underwater or space type things. It just doesn't seem like it'd fit or would be the next logical step. I just can't imagine CoH in space. Maybe on another planet at the worst, but not floating in space.

Unfortunately, that's rarely possible - game development, you have to keep running to stay where you are. In all likelihood, and this applies to any studio, the designing for the next game/expansion was started a couple months before the game went live. I'd bet that Statesman and company are well in the design phase of the next expansion/game.

Ah! A clue! Could the next expansion be about PULP-type heroes, like the Shadow? Hmmm...

Me too.

"After a time, I stopped at a hollow tree that had to be there. I reached inside and drew forth my silvered blade and strapped it to my waist. It mattered not that it had been somewhere in Amber. It was here now, for the wood that I walked was in Shadow."

Statesman has said, although the post is long since vaporware and therefore cannot be proven, that he would like to do a City of Pulp type of thing. So yes, I believe this is a possibility.

Not the NEXT thing, probably, but a definite maybe for the future.

In other words...

Soon.

Seriously though, whatever gives us the option of more-or-less Pistols Scrappers is whatever I'm all the way behind. Come on, I got my ragdoll physics, which is what I've been hankering for since the first time I knocked a Hellion into a mailbox in Atlas; therefore it is NOW my fondest wish for dual pistols. The expanshalone they're included in is a detail.

Man, Jack, you are taking a perverse joy in this "cryptic" hint thing.

Love it!

Hope you've got international city expansion in mind for the future... it'd be great to go to the Paragon Airport or take a Portal to Paris, Rome, Beijing... what a blast!

Wow, he even bolded Pulp in the list. And mentioned the shadow in the very next one. I'm betting money now that we're talking a pulp hero expansion with Deserts and Jungles and dinosaurs hehe...

Likely new powersets?
Pistols
Whips
Knives
Rifles
Dual Wielded Swords
Insect Control
Hexes
Epic Magic AT?

lots of options

Just thought you should know, they were bold because Celtic used Search to find them. A function of it is to make the words he searched for bold. Just so you know.

No, but they move when you're not looking.

Hmmm that would make it a semi-lock for City of 1930's Pulp Action Adventure Heroes and Villains and maybe someday Spies?

Personally I'd love to see the game take on more depth. It's made great strides in the past year, the escorts, zone events, etc. I've been trying to determine what it was about WoW that kept me attatched to it for so long, versus my quick burnout with CoH. Collectible drops I think played some part, in which case the Base/Salvage idea was a great addition as well. The other part was that a lot of the quests in WoW don't involve personal missions. Now, I'm not even going to ask to change the way missions work. Having personalized missions for each person prevent a lot of potential conflict, allows scaleable things, and is a great core quality. However having some missions that involve simply running hither and thro from place to place (preferably after level 14), interacting with various objects and what not, to progress a story, would be great.
As it is, every single mission I do will involve me going inside a mission door. There are are some rare exceptions. The PvP "zone" missions, and the patrol paths are the only 2 I can think of at the moment. The generic "Kill X of Y mobs" are the other, but they have their place.
I would find it somewhat more interesting to have to find an object in a lower level zone, perhaps it's an object I've seen very frequently, but up until the game did not allow me to interact with it.

Anyways, there's my thoughts =)
